Food Pro∙tec∙ts is designed to bring top class technology innovation right into the heart of both the Dutch and German corporate landscape. To do so business people from both sides of the regional food production chain have been invited into different technology innovation clusters, where they are trained by innovation experts in order to develop and use new and emerging technologies. The new technologies that will result from the project are precision work: they will meet the specific demands of the local SME´s and are built to enhance their leading position compared to other agri-food areas around the world. Even more importantly, this project will contribute to the agricultural turnaround which responds to the expectations of today's society: a food production based on sustainability, proximity and quality. The project is set on a fixed term of four years. With 18 partners involved into seven innovation clusters the project has a total budget of almost 10 Million Euro. The thematic priority of the project activities is on the following aspects: upgrading consumer protection and information, reducing food and water waste in production facilities, increasing animal health and welfare and finding new ways to transform biomass into valuable products.

Food Pro∙tec∙ts wurde entwickelt, um hochklassige, technologische Innovationen in den Deutsch-Niederländischen Wirtschaftsraum bringen zu können. Im Projekt kooperieren Unternehmer beider Länder mit Innovationsexperten innerhalb verschiedener Technologiecluster unter der Zielvorgabe, neue und neuartige Technologien gemeinsam zu entwickeln und ihre Handhabung zu erlernen. Alle technologischen Produkte, die aus diesem Projekt resultieren werden, sind einerseits präzise auf die Anforderungen der regionalen KMU´s ausgerichtet. Andererseits sollen sie helfen, bestehende Wettbewerbsvorteile der gesamten Region im Vergleich zu anderen Standorten weltweit zu sichern und nach Möglichkeit weiter auszubauen. Die Projektpartner wollen zudem ihren persönlichen Beitrag leisten zum Fortschritt der so genannten Agrarwende. Die moderne Gesellschaft erwartet, dass Nahrungsmittel nachhaltig, regional und in hoher Qualität produziert und angeboten werden. Das Projekt ist geplant für eine Laufzeit von vier Jahren. Insgesamt 18 Projektpartner verfügen in sieben verschiedenen Clustern über ein Gesamtbudget von rund 10 Millionen Euro. Die thematischen Schwerpunkte liegen auf den folgenden Aspekten: Erweiterung des Verbraucherschutzes und der Information von Verbrauchern, Reduzierung von Wasser- und Nahrungsmittelausschüssen innerhalb der Produktion, Verbesserung von Tierwohl und –gesundheit sowie neue Wege bei der Transformation von Biomasse in wertvolle Produkte wie z.B. Futtermittel.

Food Pro∙tec∙ts is ontwikkelt om technologische innovatie van hoogste kwaliteit naar het hart van het Duitse en Nederlandse bedrijfsleven te kunnen brengen. Om deze uitdaging te kunnen bereiken zijn er zakenlui uit de regionale agri en food sector in verschillende technologische innovatieclusters uitgenodigd, om hier van innovatie deskundigen te kunnen leren hoe nieuwe technologieen ontwikkelt en gebruikt kunnen worden. De nieuwe technologieen die uit dit project gaan resulteren zijn precisiewerk: ze zijn enerzijds perfect afgestemd op de belangstellingen van vooral MKBers uit de regio, anderzijds zijn ze gebouwd om hun concurrentiepositie in vergelijking met andere agri food regios in de hele werels verder te kunnen verbeteren. Daar komt nog eens bij, dat het project wil bijdragen aan de transitie van de hele sector ivm de eisen van de moderne maatschappij: de productie van voedingsmiddeleln moet gebaseerd zijn op duurzaamheid, regionaliteit en kwaliteit. Het project heeft een looptijd van vier jaar. De in totaal 18 projectpartners zijn in zeven verschillende innovatieclusters georganiseerd en beschikken er over een budget van bijna 10 miljoen euro. Inhoudelijk gezien maken er de volgende thematische speerpunten deel van het project uit: het verbeteren van de consumentenbescherming en –voorlichting, het verminderen van water- und voedingsverspilling binnen de productie, het vergroten van diergezondheid en –welzijn en het opsporen van nieuwe mogelijkheden om uit biomassa nieuwe producten van hoge kwaliteit te maken.

Achievements (EN):

The INTERREG V A project Food Pro-tec-ts was developed to create and practically test high-class technological innovations in the Dutch-German agricultural and food sector. Modern society expects food to be produced and offered sustainably, regionally and in high quality. Under this guideline, entrepreneurs and scientists from both countries have worked together with great success over the past four years. All technological products resulting from this project were, on the one hand, precisely geared to the requirements of regional SMEs. On the other hand, they are intended to help secure and, if possible, further expand existing competitive advantages of the entire region in comparison to other locations worldwide. The project partners also want to make their personal contribution to the progress of the so-called agricultural turnaround. The thematic focus was primarily on the following aspects: – Expanding consumer protection in the area of food safety. – Testing sustainable processes for cleaning and disinfection. – Reduction of water and food waste within the production process. – Improving animal welfare and animal health. – New ways of transforming biomass into valuable products.
