Description


Description (EN): The project ‚Use and further development of modern processes for surface structuring for interdisciplinary applications in the regional industry’ (MOVERO) is concerned with micro structuring of film surfaces by the use of an embossing roller process which can be applied for a wide range of industrial applications. The project belongs to the field of industrial research and is for this purpose focused on the following six key activities: • reflective foils for solar cells, • optical microstructures, • soft-touch structures, • antibacterial surface structures; • structured metal surfaces for the creation of biomedical effects, • structured polymer surfaces with self-cleaning properties. During the project the companies of the various branches and the universities (of applied sciences) will corporately develop the theoretical basis of surface geometries and their functional properties and will use the acquired knowledge to realize an industrial application. The common feature of the planned applications is a more rapid high capacity ultra-short-pulse laser surface ablation and, if necessary, a following step of laser polishing, which will enable the creation of various surface geometries on embossing rolls. This makes it possible to quickly and cost-effectively transfer the optimized structures onto the various film surfaces (synthetic material, metals) during the following embossing step by the use of a reel-to-reel process which allows the adaption of the form and structural size of the functionalized surfaces to the corresponding areas of application. There is a large target group which will benefit from advances in the field of surface technology, such as the automotive industry, packaging industry (e.g. food packaging, RFID, security elements for copy protection), the energy technology (solar technology), the print and advertising technology, the medical technology and users in the field of light technology.
Description: Het project „Ontwikkeling van moderne technieken voor oppervlaktestructurering met toepassingen in de regionale industrie “ (MOVERO) houdt zich bezig met de microstructurering van folie-oppervlak door reliëfwalsen, die in een breed spectrum van industriële toepassingen kunnen worden ingezet. Het project behoort tot het industriële onderzoek en mikt hierbij op de volgende zes zwaartepunten • Reflectorfolie voor zonnecellen, • Optische microstructuren, • Soft-touch-structuren, • Antibacteriële oppervlakken, • Gestructureerde metaal oppervlakken voor biomedische effecten, • Gestructureerde polymeeroppervlakken met zelfreinigende functie. In het verloop van het project zullen de bedrijven in de verschillende branches in samenwerking met de hogescholen en de onderzoeksinstellingen de theoretische basis van oppervlaktegeometrieën en hun functionele eigenschappen uitwerken en met de daaruit gewonnen inzichten de industriële realisatie starten. Gezamenlijk kenmerk van de geplande toepassingen is een snelle high performance ultra korte pulslaser en indien nodig daarna nog een laserbehandeling waarmee de verschillende oppervlakte-geometrieën op reliëfwalsen kunnen worden aangebracht. Daarmee kan men in het daarop volgende drukproces de geoptimaliseerde structuren snel en voordelig met een rol-op-rol methode op de verschillende folie-oppervlakken (kunststof en metaal) overgedragen, waarbij de gefunctionaliseerde oppervlakken in de inzetgebieden qua vorm en structuurgrootte kunnen worden aangepast. Er is sprake van een zeer grote doelgroep, die van de doorontwikkelingen bij de oppervlaktetechnologie zal profiteren, zoals de automotive industrie, de verpakkingsindustrie (bv. levensmiddelverpakkingen, RFID, veiligheidselementen als bescherming tegen kopiëren, energietechniek (zonne-energie), druk en reclametechniek, medische techniek, gebruikers in de lichttechniek.
