Project - New Cross-border Connections for the Unitary and Sustainable Mobility of people

Description

Description (EN): The NECTEMUS Project aims to create a joint Action Plan to identify the shortcomings of maritime passenger interconnections in the cooperation area, mainly between mainland ports and the two islands of Sardinia and Corsica. The Action Plan will identify the infrastructural and info-structural interventions to improve the connectivity of passenger transport, tanking into account the mingling of traffic with the goods sector, at the level of secondary and tertiary port centres. The Action Plan will achieve a change in the arrangement of planning the interventions at the cross-border level, by identifying, by means of specific joint studies, the priorities and the feasibility of actions and measures in support of passenger mobility. The outputs of NECTEMUS will therefore constitute a decisional instrument useful for investment decisions, not just infrastructural, to be made in the context of the programme area, taking into account the interventions already underway and the results obtained in the previous programme. The project systemizes the knowledge already available, and develops them in an innovative way, displaying the potential and intervention priorities identified in the joint Action Plan in a Dashboard of interventions that exemplifies the feasibility of the proposals and their impact on the mobility of passengers at the cross-border level. The transferability of the Dashboard assists the institutions and operators involved in the passenger transport chain, with particular reference to port centres, reclassifying the information and the analyses developed in the project. NECTEMUS is the twin project of CIRCUMVECTO, proposed by the Region of Liguria, developed on the goods sector, reinforcing the analyses carried out on the passenger sector and supplementing them, given the intermingling in the maritime transport between the mainland and the islands. It is connected with the governance instruments of GEECCTT-iles, proposed by the OTC.
