Description
Description (EN): The Key problem, addressed by “CREAzone 2.0” is disproportionately high unemployment rate, especially among youth, arising from the disparities between Programme regions and capital cities.
In order to tackle this Key problem we are going to promote youth entrepreneurship and foster young persons exploit an unleashed local potential for international business growth by reinventing business models in traditional sectors and merging those with innovative elements of knowledge economy. We strongly believe that by changing a “status quo” in traditional sectors young entrepreneurs will be able to establish feasible business companies and create significant employment opportunities both for themselves and for other people in the region while still living in the region.
The overall objective of the “CREAzone 2.0” project is to create new promising businesses by combining innovative knowledge economy driven ideas with business models in traditional industries thus contributing to the long-term and sustainable rise of employment in the Lithuanian-Latvian cross-border region.
By implementing the project we will create new business opportunities in traditional industries in the Lithuanian-Latvian cross-border region by knowledge economy driven promotion of youth entrepreneurship in accordance with “CREAzone” methodology as well as build an alliance of stakeholders, who are determined to create long-term collaboration on promotion of youth entrepreneurship.
The project “CREAzone 2.0” is based on the methodology that was applied, tested and improved during the “CREAzone 1.0” project in 2012-2013. However, significant innovative changes has been made to the project methodology to adapt it to addressing Key Problem on an international scale.
Tomēr projekta metodoloģijai tikušas veiktas svarīgas novatoriskas izmaiņas, lai to piemērotu galvenās problēmas risināšanai starptautiskā mērogā.
Read more Description (LT): Pagrindinė projekto sprendžiama problema yra neproporcingai didelis nedarbo lygis, ypač jaunimo tarpe, tiksliniuose programos regionuose lyginant su didžiausiais šalių miestais.
Šią problemą mes planuojame spręsti skatindami jaunimo verslumą ir motyvuodami jaunus žmonės atrasti neišnaudotą vietinių sektorių potencialą apjungdami tradicinių industrijų verslo modelius su šiuolaikiniais žinių ekonomikos elementais. Mes tikime, kad jaunieji verslininkai, išdrįsę pakeisti „status quo“, sugebės sukurti naujus gyvybingus verslus ir tokiu būdu užtikrinti darbo vietas sau ir kitiems tikslinių regionų žmonėms.
Bendras projekto „CREAzone 2.0“ tikslas yra apjungti žinių ekonomikos įgalintas šiuolaikiškas verslo idėjas ir tradicinių industrijų verslo modelius tokiu būdu sukuriant naujus perspektyvius verslus ir užtikrinant tvarų užimtumo augimą Lietuvos ir Latvijos pasienio regionuose.
Įgyvendindami projektą mes sukursime naujas verslo galimybes tradiciniuose tikslinių regionų sektoriuose kryptingai skatindami jaunimo verslumą žinių ekonomikos srityje pagal inovatyvią „CREAzone“ metodologiją. Mes taip pat įsteigsime suinteresuotų šalių aljansą, skirtą tęstinio bendradarbiavimo užtikrinimui jaunimo verslumo skatinimo srityje.
Projekto „CREAzone 2.0“ pagrindą sudaro jaunimo verslumo skatinimo metodologija, kuri buvo pritaikyta, išbandyta ir patobulinta 2012-2013 metais vykdant projektą „CREAzone 1.0“. Prieš teikiant „CREAzone 2.0“ projektą, projekto partneriai reikšmingai adaptavo šią metodologija ir praturtino ją inovatyviais elementais tam, kad ji atitiktų iššūkius, susijusius su jos pritaikymu tarptautiniu mastu.

It is foreseen that establishment of the new and accelerated growth of existing businesses will lead to creating new and maintaining existing jobs in the businesses in the Programme target regions.
During the project implementation trained more than 1106 participants from the target group. This reached result directly contribute to the main objective of the project (new promising businesses created) as well as to the program priority specific objective (employment opportunities created).
During the project improved and renewed Creazone 2.0 program. After implementation of the activities created and open sourced implementation manual: Creazone Reinvent.

Expected Results (EN): Newly established businesses per year
Expected Results (LV): Jaundibināti uzņēmumi gada laikā
Expected Outputs (EN): The “CREAzone” project was initiated in order to contribute both to the employment support intervention of the LAT-LIT Programme and to the solution of the Key problem (see Territorial Challenge section) by providing added value to the process of achievement of the Key objectives (see Project Approach section) in the Key fields (see Project Approach section).
There are two main results expected from the project:
• Not less than 40 young entrepreneurs, who participated in project activities, have founded their own business, became a co-founder of a new business or became self-employed during 3 years after the end of the project.
• “CREAzone” alliance created with at least 10 stakeholders, playing role in promoting youth entrepreneurship, joining it during the project and at least 10 youth entrepreneurship promotion initiatives implemented by the members of alliance during 3 years after the end of the project.
Result #1. Not less than 40 young entrepreneurs, who participated in project activities, have founded their own business, became a co-founder of a new business or became self-employed during 3 years after the end of the project.
As we’ve already described in the “Overall objective of the project” section, the entrepreneurship support provided during the project will be aimed to stimulate all participants to disturb the “old way of doing business” and create new viable international business opportunities, empowered by knowledge economy drivers, in the industries that has been stagnant for too long. These project activities will lead to new business ideas generated, dedicated teams assembled, business plans developed and business companies established or self-employment licenses received to implement those business plans.
The project result indicators calculation is based on the previous experience gained during the implementation of the similar projects in the past. In 2012-2013 Lithuanian business confederation together with partners (Vilnius Gediminas technical university, University of applied social sciences and Utena University of applied sciences) has successfully implemented nation-wide project “CREAzone 1.0” (www.creazone.lt) that was aimed help young people combine business models and creativity into organic, young and promising businesses. There were more than 400 applications received with the claim to join the project, however only about 133 were invited to participate in the project (116 students and 17 mentors). During 12 month participants were trained for a total of 17400 hours on more than 35 various topics, entrepreneurial camps and workshops were organized, study visit to London startup scene were implemented. This pilot project was a great success – there were 5 participants, who established businesses during the project, and more than 20 participants, who started their business activities after the end of the project. Success rate, calculated by taking number of participants, who has started business activities as a result of the “CREAzone 1.0” project, and dividing it by total number of participants, were 21%.
We have decided to apply slightly lower “success rate” of ~16% for the calculation of the “CREAzone 2.0” project results, because transnational approach will be tested in the “CREAzone 2.0” project, that haven’t been applied in “CREAzone 1.0” project, and might have impact on the “success rate” of the project. Thus we expect that not less than 40 young entrepreneurs, who participated in project activities, have founded their own business, became a co-founder of a new business or became self-employed during 3 years after the end of the project.
By achieving this result we will directly contribute to the overall project objective (to create new promising businesses), to the Programme result indicator (Newly established businesses), to the Programme output indicator (Number of enterprises receiving non-financial support) and therefore to the Programme Specific objective (Employment opportunities created through entrepreneurship support).
Result #2. “CREAzone” alliance created with at least 10 stakeholders, playing role in promoting youth entrepreneurship, joining it during the project and at least 10 youth entrepreneurship promotion initiatives implemented by the members of alliance during 3 years after the end of the project.
We believe that it will be possible to create and maintain strong alliance (network) with at least 10 active members in it. We plan that by uniting resources and capabilities of various stakeholders we will be able not only to replicate “CREAzone” methodology in part or in full, but also to buildup new projects and initiatives on this foundation.
The “CREAzone” project implementation manual, developed in English, will empower us to share this know-how with any interested organization from anywhere in the world and to attract more members in “CREAzone” alliance. We plan to send emails, presenting “CREAzone” alliance and methodology, and establish contacts with relevant stakeholders from at least 15 countries during the project. It is quite possible that organizations from outside of Lithuania and Latvia will also become the members of alliance during the project.
We also plan that representatives of the project partners will present the alliance and methodology during various thematic events both in our countries and outside of them. We will also seek to nominate “CREAzone 2.0” project in various local and international contests and competitions in the field of youth entrepreneurship promotion in order to build awareness and spread the news about the project.
We plan that we will be able to achieve the goal of implementing not less than 10 youth entrepreneurship promotion initiatives by participating in local funding programs, financed by ESF, ERDF and national budgets, applying to ERASMUS+ and various Interreg programs and by attracting socially responsible businesses that would provide donations for implementation of youth entrepreneurship promotion projects. Building large international alliance will definitely help us in achieving and even surpassing this sub-results.
We expect that by achieving this goal we will multiply the effect of the project and contribute to creation of even more new promising businesses. Therefore we will directly contribute to the overall project objective (to create new promising businesses), to the Programme result indicator (Newly established businesses), to the Programme output indicators (Business support services improved/created and Number of enterprises receiving non-financial support) and thus to the Programme Specific objective (Employment opportunities created through entrepreneurship support).
