Das Programmgebiet kämpft mit einer hohen Fragmentierung der Forschungs- und Innovations- (R&I) Kapazitäten. Folglich haben die meisten Unternehmen in Randregionen einen schlechten Zugang zu R&I-Infrastruktur, sind nicht innovativ und erleben ein beschränktes Mehrwertwachstum. Dies gilt vor allem für den Bereich der Entwicklung neuer Materialien für industrielle Anwendungen. Obwohl der potenzielle Markt für Produkte auf Basis von funktionalen Materialien äußerst vielfältig ist (Energiespeicherung, Elektronik, Pharmazeutika, Luft- und Raumfahrt usw.), können die Unternehmen in Randgebieten die verfügbare R&I-Infrastruktur für die Entwicklung neuer Produkte nicht effizient nutzen. RETINA will diese Herausforderungen durch den Aufbau eines Netzwerks von etablierten Labors mit ergänzenden Fähigkeiten in der Materialwissenschaft und durch die Versorgung der Forschungszentren und Unternehmen mit einem "single entry point"-Zugriff auf das Netzwerk angehen. Dies erhöht die Chancen auf Erreichung der kritischen Masse von R&I-Einrichtungen im Gebiet, stimuliert Unternehmen in R&I zu investieren und damit zu Verbesserung der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der benachteiligten Regionen beiträgt. Die Haupt-Outputs des Projekts werden Informationsveranstaltungen, Laborbesuche, in Zusammenarbeit mit der Industrie und Forschungszentren durchgeführte Pilotaktionen und Feedback an die Behörden sein, gerichtet auf unterschiedliche Gruppen (wissenschaftliche Partner, Wissensvermittler, Industrien und Entscheidungsträger), um die Wirkung zu maximieren. Eine stark fragmentierte R&I-Infrastruktur im Bereich der Materialwissenschaft verhindert das Erreichen der Projektziele auf regionaler und nationaler Ebene. Eine grenzübergreifende Initiative ist daher wesentlich für die erfolgreiche Umsetzung des Antrags. Ein interregionales Netzwerk mit einem "single entry point" macht das Projekt einzigartig im Vergleich zu anderen Kooperationsinitiativen, die meistens lokal stattfinden.

Programsko območje se trenutno spopada z visoko fragmentacijo kapacitet za razvoj in inovacije (R&I). Večina podjetij iz perifernih območij ima posledično slab dostop do R&I infrastrukture, niso inovativna in so omejena v rasti dodane vrednosti. To posebej velja za področje inženirstva naprednih materialov za industrijske aplikacije. Čeprav je potencialni trg za proizvode, ki temeljijo na funkcionalnih materialih, izjemno raznolik (shranjevanje energije, elektronika, farmacija, letalska industrija, itd.), podjetja na perifernih območjih ne morejo učinkovito izrabiti prednosti razpoložljive R&I infrastrukture za razvoj novih proizvodov. RETINA se bo soočila s temi izzivi z izgradnjo mreže že uveljavljenih laboratorijev z izkušnjami na področju znanosti o materialih in omogočila raziskovalnim centrom ter malimi, srednjim in velikimi podjetjem dostop do raziskovalne mreže preko enotne vstopne točke. To bo povečalo možnosti za doseganje kritične mase R&I opreme v programskem območju, spodbudilo podjetja v investicije v R&I in posledično pripomoglo k povečanju konkurenčnosti manj razvitih regij. Glavni rezultati projekta bodo informativni dogodki, obiski laboratorijev, Pilotne Akcije izpeljane skupaj z industrijo in raziskovalnimi centri in povratne informacije javnim organom. Z namenom, da bi kar se da povečali učinek projekta, bodo omenjene aktivnosti ciljale na različne skupine (znanstvene partnerje, posredovalce znanja, industrijo in odločevalce). Visoka fragmentacija R&I infrastrukture na področju znanosti o materialih preprečuje doseganje projektnih ciljev na regijski in nacionalni ravni, zato je čezmejna pobuda bistvena za uspešno izvajanje predlaganega projekta. Medregijska mreža, ki bo nudila dostop do raziskovalne opreme preko enotne vstopne točke je bistvena lastnost projekta, ki ga razlikuje od ostalih iniciativ, ki so osredotočene predvsem na lokalno okolje.

The programme area is currently facing a high fragmentation of research and innovation (R&I) capacities. Consequently, most of the companies in peripheral regions have poor access to R&I infrastructure, are not innovating and experience a limited value added growth. This is especially true in the field of advanced material engineering for industrial applications. Although the potential market for products based on functional materials is extremely diverse (energy storage, electronics, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, etc.), companies in peripheral areas cannot efficiently take advantage of the available R&I infrastructure for developing new products. RETINA aims at addressing these challenges by building a network of established laboratories with complementary skills in material science and providing research centres and small, medium and large enterprises with a "single entry point" access to the network. This will increase the chances of reaching the critical mass of R&I facilities in the area, stimulate companies to invest in R&I and consequently contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of less favoured regions. The projects main outputs will be informative events, laboratory visits, Pilot Actions performed in collaboration with industries and research centres, and feedback to public authorities, targeting different groups (scientific partners, knowledge transfer intermediaries, industries and decision makers) to maximize the impact. A highly fragmented R&I infrastructure in the field of material science prevents reaching the project goals on regional and national levels. A cross-border initiative is therefore essential for the successful implementation of the proposal. An interregional network providing access to its research facilities through a "single entry point" is what makes the project unique compared with other collaboration initiatives, which usually take place locally.

Expected Outputs (DE):

Durch die Projektaktivitäten werden die Zielgruppen einen tiefen Einblick in das Potenzial der R&I-Infrastruktur der Partnerschaft gewinnen. Gleichzeitig werden die Partner erhebliche Anstrengungen in Erleichterung, so weit wie möglich, des Zugriffs auf wissenschaftliche Ausstattung durch Implementierung standardisierter Verfahren setzen. Infolgedessen werden die Zielgruppenmitglieder experimentelle Zeit in den Einrichtungen der Partnerschaft beantragen. Das Feedback der Zielgruppen wird die Qualität der von der Partnerschaft angeboten Innovationsförderung verbessern. Dies wird kleine, mittlere und große Unternehmen und Forschungszentren anregen ihre R&I-Aktivitäten auf dem Gebiet der Materialwissenschaft zu starten oder deutlich zu erweitern, was zu erhöhten R&I-Intensität im Programmgebiet führen wird und damit zum Programm-Ergebnisindikator beitragen wird.

Expected Outputs (SL):

Skozi projektne aktivnosti bodo ciljne skupine pridobile poglobljen vpogled v možnosti, ki jih ponuja skupna R&I infrastruktura partnerstva. Istočasno si bodo partnerji prizadevali za poenostavitev dostopa do znanstvene opreme, predvsem z uvedbo standardiziranih postopkov. Omenjene aktivnosti bodo članom ciljnih skupin omogočile pripravo zahtevkov za pridobitev eksperimentalnega časa na napravah v okviru partnerstva. S pomočjo povratnih informacij ciljnih skupin bodo partnerji izboljšali inovacijsko podporo uporabnikom. To bo spodbudilo mala, srednja in velika podjetja ter raziskovalne centre, da bodo pričeli z ali bistveno razširili svoje R&I dejavnosti na področju materialov, kar bo vodilo k večji intenzivnosti R&I v programskem območju, in posledično prispevalo k programskemu indikatorju.

Expected Outputs (EN):

Through the project activities the target groups will gain deep insight into the potential of the R&I infrastructure offered by the partnership. At the same time, the partners will put substantial efforts into facilitating, as much as possible, the access to the scientific equipment, by implementing standardised procedures. As a result, the target group members will generate requests for experimental time at the partnership's facilities. The feedback from the target groups will improve the quality of innovation support offered by the partnership. This will stimulate small, medium and large enterprises, and research centres to start or to significantly expand their R&I activities in the field of material science, which will lead to increased R&I intensity in the programme area, and therefore contribute to the programme result indicator.
