Description

Read more Description (EN): VALUEPAM wishes to improve the management, planning, promotion and use of Aromatic and Medicinal Plants (PAM) by considering them as a key element for the economic diversification and sustainable socio-economic development of the natural and rural areas of the SUDOE space. To this end, serial analysis of the PAM situation are planned to determine their status, distribution and potential development. A common methodology will be developed to help the plans PAM management, which will try to homogenize the criteria for a more sustainable and transferable use and valuation.
Thus, we will provide answers to one of the specific objectives of the program concerning the need to improve natural heritage management methods. In addition, knowledge of the PAM species will provide information that will facilitate the economic viability of the PAM markets. We find it interesting to know the diversification of their use in other sectors. In terms of innovation, we suggest pilot actions for the transformation of the resource: cultivation of species as well as the extrapolation of existing management models avoiding the reduction of PAM populations. These actions will contribute to the innovative dimension, the promotion and the marketing of this resource.
Thus, the pilot actions will make it possible to find innovative solutions to answer the problems of the natural and rural spaces and will be transferable through the beneficiaries of the project to the administrations for their integration in their operational mode (management and follow-up) and to the companies for an improvement of their competitiveness and profitability. The transnational approach is based on the fact that PAM are located in the entire SUDOE space, which assumes a common dynamic element, and which determines the significant transfer capacity of the results obtained, which can therefore be transferred to the good management and valuation practices in any territory of the SUDOE space.
Read more Achievements (EN): the project carried out an exhaustive study of the sector and developed a common methodology for drafting management plans and economic use of these plants as well as pilot actions.
Among its project results, it is worth highlighting:
- The study of the PAM selected by regions.
- A proposal for a common methodology for the creation of management plans and use of maps.
- Maps of location of selected species and quantities.
- Plan to improve the value chain of the selected species.
- An action model for the diversification of the use of PAMs.
- A pilot project of local application, oriented to the improvement of the transformation of the PAM and the local development of the value chain.
- A pilot project of sustainable domestication and primary transformation to improve its profitability and market potential.
- A pilot project to extrapolate management models to implement transnational successes and avoid the alarming decrease of wild locations.
The results of the project were collected by the Junta de Andalucía that has integrated them into its legislation.
