Evidence from the logistics sector shows a strong growing interest in 0-emission vehicles to reduce environmental impact. This particularly is the case for the EU where the logistics sector contributes 25% of total transport sector CO2 emissions. In urban areas, 0-emission logistics can be operated by battery-electric trucks. However, large heavy duty vehicles which travel longer distances require a hydrogen fuel cell range extender on hydrogen. In the EU such vehicles are not yet available but have huge potential not only for developing a new market, but also for their potential to contribute to green transport solutions thus reducing carbon emissions and improve air quality. H2Share will unlock this potential and will join forces beginning with 4 front-runner NWE regions in 3 member states (B,NL,D) experienced in hydrogen technology. Based the project partner’s experiences and contacts with innovative end-users, one 27 ton rigid truck on hydrogen and one flexible low energy mobile refueler will be built and demonstrated. These will be developed with important end-users involved in this project in different regions. A demo plan will be created as a joint effort by sectoral agencies to ensure maximum involvement of regions, end-users, associations and other stakeholders. These demonstrations will build strong visibility, joint experiences and raise public awareness around hydrogen solutions in heavy duty. Based upon the demo’s and strong cooperation with sector-related associations, a joint roadmap for NWE will be developed. The end goal is to facilitate wider implementation of transnational low-carbon transport solutions to reduce environmental impact. By activating this market, NWE will become a leader in Europe for zero-emission logistics for heavy duty transport, targeting an estimated market share of 5% of yearly sales in 2030 (10000), 1000 jobs, an estimated CO2 reduction of 1 million tons/year and the majority of the trucks produced by NWE based industry.

In der Logistikbranche zeigt sich ein stark wachsendes Interesse an emissionsfreien Fahrzeugen, um die Umwelt zu entlasten. Dies gilt insbesondere für die EU, in der der Logistiksektor 25% der gesamten CO2-Emissionen des Verkehrssektors ausmacht. In städtischen Gebieten kann die 0-Emissions-Logistik mit batteriebetriebenen Elektrofahrzeugen erzielt werden, jedoch erfordern große LKW die längere Strecken zurücklegen, eine H2-Brennstoffzelle um ihren Aktionsbereich zu vergrößern. Solche Fahrzeuge haben ein enormes Potential Emissionen zu reduzieren. H2Share wird dieses Potential freisetzen, startend mit vier NWE-Regionen in drei Mitgliedsstaaten (BE, NL, DE) die bereits Erfahrung mit Wasserstoff haben. Basierend auf den Erfahrungen der Projektpartner und den Kontakten zu innovativen Endnutzern wird ein 27-Tonnen-LKW auf H2-Basis und eine mobile, niederenergetische H2 Tankstelle gebaut. Beide Systeme sollen den Endnutzern auf deren Gelände demonstriert werden. Es werden insgesamt sechs Demonstrationen mit vier zugehörigen Endnutzern in verschiedenen Regionen organisiert. Ein Demo-Plan, der eine maximale Beteiligung von Regionen, Endnutzern, Verbänden und anderen Stakeholdern sicherstellt, wird mit allen Partnern erstellt. Diese Demos werden die Wahrnehmung und das öffentliche Bewusstsein rund um H2-Lösungen im LKW- Logistikbereich erhöhen. Basierend auf den Demos und der starken Zusammenarbeit mit Branchenverbänden wird eine gemeinsame Roadmap für NWE entwickelt. Ziel ist es, die Umsetzung und Verlagerung von transnationalen CO2-armen Transportlösungen zur Verringerung der Umweltbelastung zu erleichtern. Durch die Marktaktivierung wird NWE ein Marktführer in Europa für emissionsfreie Schwerlast-Logistik mit einem Marktanteil von 5% des Jahresumsatzes im Jahr 2030 (10.000 Einheiten). Es werden 1.000 Arbeitsplätze erwartet und eine geschätzte CO2-Reduktion von 1 Mio. Tonnen/Jahr.

Dans le secteur logistique, il y a un intérêt croissant pour les véhicules zéro-émission, surtout dans l’UE où le secteur logistique est responsable de 25% des émissions CO2 du secteur des transports. Dans les zones urbaines, les camions électriques à batterie peuvent constituer une solution satisfaisante mais la batterie seule ne permet pas d’alimenter les camions transportant une charge importante sur des longues distances. Il faut recourir à un prolongateur d’autonomie à l’H2. En Europe, de tels camions ne sont pas encore disponibles), mais ils ont un énorme potentiel pour réduire les émissions. H2Share va démontrer ce potentiel dans 4 régions de l’ENO et 3 états membres (B,NL,D), expérimentés dans l’H2. Sur la base des expériences des partenaires et de leurs contacts avec des utilisateurs finaux innovants, un camion 27 tonnes à l’H2 et une station-service mobile à basse énergie seront construits. Ils seront testés en conditions réelles par l4 utilisateurs finaux dans 6 sites démonstrations. Le plan de démonstration sera préparé avec tous les partenaires pour assurer une participation maximale des régions, des utilisateurs finaux, des associations et d´autres parties prenantes. Ces démonstrations vont créer des expériences communes et donner une forte visibilité aux véhicules utilitaires lourds basés sur l’H2. Ces démonstrations et une coopération intensive avec les associations du secteur permettront de développer une feuille de route pour l’ENO. L’objectif est de faciliter la mise en œuvre de solutions de transports zéro émission. En activant ce marché, l’ENO deviendra leader en Europe dans la logistique zéro-émission pour les transports lourds. Le camion à l’H2 peut obtenir une part de marché estimée à 5% en 2030 tout en générant 1000 emplois et une réduction des émissions de CO2 d´environ 1 million de tonnes/an. En outre la plupart des camions sont produits par l’industrie de l’ENO.

One demonstration yet of >7.5 ton truck on H2 for longer distances. • Existing experience with fuel cell technology in bus applications, no real developments in HD in NWE. • No hydrogen refuelers for facilitating HD logistic transport on hydrogen; • No EU roadmap and cooperation for development of low-carbon HD transport on hydrogen; • Fuel cost €0,9/km (est.).
