Description (EN): SMARTER (Synergy of Modern Approaches and Real-life Technologies in Education and Research in Gymnázium Kráľovský Chlmec and Kisvárdai Bessenyei Görgy Gimnázium és Kollégium) is a project focused on improving cross-border cooperation of institutions and broadening the level of cross-border cooperation of citizens. The beneficiaries of the project are two grammar schools on the two sides of the Slovak-Hungarian borderline: Gymnázium-Gimnázium Kráľovský Chlmec(SK) and A Kisvárdai Bessenyei Görgy Gimnázium és Kollégium(HU). The aim of the partnership is to contribute to a decrease of the rate of unemployment in both regions by preparing the students to enter the labour market, filling the empty positions (technical and engineering posts) whic h have recently become less popular. Therefore, the direct aim of the partnership is to establish Technology and Developer Laboratories which will attract students by innovative character of their educational and training programmes, melting theory a nd practice. The laboratories will provide students real-life knowledge with activities such controlling CNC machinery tools, programming remote-controlled robots, 3D printing, developing IOS / Android applications, PC design. The partnership is base d on exchange of KNOW-HOW: the Slovak side has been ready for this kind of cooperation since 2008 when extending the school´s curriculum by professional specialisation (IT, pharmacy, economics, management). Besides talented students, the project also appeals to those with average capacities too; the principle of non-discrimination is guaranteed. Disadvantaged students from less motivating environment are also included in the project. The outcomes of the project will be measurable by statistics: an increase in number of students (boys and girls) choosing technically oriented studies. Providing skilful and entrepreneurial young people on the labour market on both sides of the border is the guarantee of sustainability of the project.
Read more Description (SK): Realizáciou projektu dosiahneme naplnenie hlavných cieľov, t.j. rozvinutie odbornej a profesionálnej cezhraničnej spolupráce medzi ustanovizňami: Gymnázium a kolégium Györgya Bessenyeia v Kisvárde (HU) a Gymnázium – Gimnázium v Kráľovskom Chlmci (SK) a posilnenie plodnej cezhraničnej spolupráce obyvateľov Táto spoluprácu pozitívne ovplyvní zníženie nezamestnanosti a hospodársky rozvoj v regiónoch. Prostredníctvom aktivít realizovaných v rámci úzkej spolupráce sa zvýši záujem gymnazistov o štúdium prírodných a technických vied, ktorých neobľúbenosť je dnes celoeurópskym fenoménom.
Projekt posilňuje záujem o prácu s číslicovo riadenými obrábacími strojmi (CNC), programovanie diaľkovo riadených robotov, 3D tlačiarní, počítačové riadenie procesov, vývoj IOS/Android aplikácií, počítačom podporované projektovanie a pod. Popri talentovaných, jazykovo zdatných, kreatívne mysliacich študentoch, ponúka perspektívnu kariéru aj priemerným žiakom. Spolupráca v rámci projektu vo veľkej miere podporuje rozvoj sociálnych kompetencií, čo je v súlade s odporúčaniami EÚ. Prioritou pre obe strany je zabezpečenie rovného prístupu k vzdelaniu, k vedomostiam, k osobnej a spoločenskej prosperite pre sociálne znevýhodnených žiakov. Merateľnou hodnotou projektu bude pozitívny posun záujmu žiakov o prírodovedné a technické profesie. Túto skutočnosť potvrdí aj zvýšený počet žiakov, ktorí sa uplatnia v uvedených profesiách alebo budú pokračovať štúdiu informačných technológií či technických odborov.

Read more Description (HU): A pályázat a A Kisvárdai Bessenyei Görgy Gimnázium és Kollégium(HU) és a Gymnázium-Gimnázium Kráľovský Chlmec(SK) között határon átnyúló intézményközi együttműködés szintjének a javítását és az állampolgárok közötti határon átnyúló együttműködés szélesítését fogjuk elérni. Ez a kölcsönös együttműködés egyszerre szolgálják a munkanélküliség csökkentését és a gazdaság növekedését is a régióban. A szoros együttműködésre épülő tevékenységek megvalósításával a gimnáziumi tanulókat érzékenyítve, motiválva lesznek a természettudományos és mérnökpályák irányába, melyek népszerűtlensége sajnos összeurópai jelenség. A pályázat a tanulók aktivitását a CNC vezérlésű szerszámgépek kezelése, a távirányítású robotok programozása, a 3D nyomtatás, számítógépes folyamatirányítás, IOS/Android alkalmazások fejlesztése, a számítógéppel támogatott tervezés irányába növeli. A már idegen nyelvtudással is rendelkező, fejlett gondolkodási képességgel rendelkező, kreatív tanulók mellett az átlagos képességű fiataloknak(lányoknak és fiúknak) is továbbtanulási irányt mutat, életpálya perspektívát biztosít. A közös munka a szociális kompetenciák fejlesztését is szolgálja, mellyel a pályázat eleget tesz az EU által megfogalmazott ajánlásoknak. Prioritása mindkét fél számára a hátrányos helyzetű tanulókat is bevonása a tevékenységekbe, számukra azonos hozzáférést biztosítása a tanuláshoz, a tudáshoz, a munkához, az egyéni és közösségi boldoguláshoz. A projekt megvalósítása érzékelhető és mérhető attitűd-elmozdulást idéz elő a tanulókban a természettudományos és műszaki pályák iránt. Az elmozdulást igazolja majd a műszaki, az informatika továbbtanulási irányba jelentkezők, illetve elhelyezkedők emelkedő száma is. Az intézmények közötti szakmai kapcsolatok a projekt befejezése után is megmaradnak és ez a tudásmegosztás, a tapasztalatok, ötletek átadása a pedagógiai és digitális kultúra területén is fenntartható innovációt eredményez.

Kisvárdai Bessenyei György Gimnázium és Kollégium maintained by the Educational Authority of Kisvárda and Gymnázium-Gimnázium Kráľovský Chlmec (SK) applied for the implementation of infrastructural development and activity schemes in order to promote cross-border inter-institutional cooperation that sensitize students by exchanging and sharing educational knowledge, experience and resources, orienting them towards areas of industry shortages and thus contributing to reducing skills shortages in border areas.
The European Union and the Regional Development Fund co-financed EUR 125,507 for the implementation of the SMARTER project
During the two years of work, the young people, while getting to know the use of CNC lathes, 3D printers, Lego robots, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, plotter, cutting plotter tools, awakened their curiosity, creativity in the intellectual products they create, in the manufactured parts, embodied in decorative products. During the joint work done with pleasure, they playfully got acquainted with the steps and pitfalls of research and development, so they almost unnoticed acquired skills that are so important for the industry. The afternoon leisure activities also strengthened the young people’s willingness to cooperate, and the sense of joy caused by the teamwork activities.
The two high schools also ensured that, in addition to their own students, young students from 10 primary schools in their area also benefited from the results of the project as part of an activity called Talent incubator.
The special value of the projec is that the IT teachers of the partner schools have been enriched with competencies that ensure the long-term sustainability of the project and the transfer of the knowledge necessary for the acquisition of the most modern digital technologies to the students. The educational materials and films made during the project are widely available to others via the World Wide Web.
