Description (EN): The project partners have achieved effective cooperation in the cross-border management of the protected areas of Lake Fertő region, and ecotourism development in the past decades, but their cooperation in ecological monitoring was limited to individual cases without an institutional background.
Therefore, the overall objective of the project is the coordination of conservation activities (mainly ecological monitoring) on both sides of the border, where a new approach is applied with a uniform methodology and coordinated implementation.
That is why the project partners disclosed their current conservation monitoring programs in the course of project preparation, and then jointly designated target species and habitats that should be explored in the project in a coordinated manner. The thus established common research projects include besides bird monitoring, botanical and faunal studies of other target species and habitats, as well as limnological and hydrobiological research activities of the Lake Fertő and Hanság areas. Furthermore, smaller habitat restoration measures and cross-border development of the birdwatching infrastructure are planned to minimize the disruptive effect of visitors to the breeding grounds.
The aim of the partners is to make the research results available not only to experts but to the general public as well, thus also awareness raising activities are planned (for example, common data collection), which allow the active involvement of the local population. To promote the transfer of best practices organisation of transnational symposia are planned.
Coordinated monitoring programs and habitat restoration projects will serve as a basis for the cross-border management of Natura 2000 areas of the Lake Fertő region, and thus contribute to stabilizing, improving their conservation degree.
Read more Description (HU): A projektpartnerek az elmúlt évtizedek során hatékony együttműködést alakítottak ki egymással a Fertő táj védett területeinek határon átnyúló kezelése és az ökoturisztikai kínálat közös fejlesztése terén, azonban az ökológiai monitoring terén, inkább csak eseti jelleggel, intézményesített kooperáció nélkül működtek együtt.
A projekt alapvető célja ezért a biodiverzitás megőrzését elősegítő természetvédelmi intézkedések - köztük főként az ökológiai monitoring - határon átnyúló összehangolása, azaz egy olyan új megközelítés alkalmazása, amely egységes módszertanon alapul, és koordinált módon kerül előkészítésre és megvalósításra.
A fentiek érdekében a projekt előkészítésekor a partnerek szakértői kölcsönösen ismertették egymással a futó természetvédelmi monitoring programjaikat, majd közösen kijelölték azokat a célfajokat és élőhelyeket, amelyeket a projektben összehangolt módon kívánnak megvizsgálni. Az így meghatározott közös kutatások köre a madármonitoring mellett további védett célfajok és élőhelyek faunisztikai és botanikai kutatásaira, ill. a Fertő-táj és a Hanság limnológiai és hidrobiológiai kutatásaira terjed ki. Emellett kisebb élőhely-rehabilitációs intézkedések, ill. a madármegfigyelő infrastruktúra határon átnyúló továbbfejlesztése tervezett a látogatók fészkelőhelyekre gyakorolt zavaró hatásának minimalizálása érdekében.
A partnerek célja, hogy a kutatások eredményei a szakértő közönségen túl a szélesebb nyilvánossághoz is eljussanak, ezért a tudatosságot növelő tevékenységek megvalósítását is tervezik (pl. közösségi adatgyűjtések), lehetővé téve a helyi lakosság aktív bevonását. A jó példák kölcsönös megosztása céljából határon átnyúló szakmai konferenciák megvalósítása tervezett.
Az összehangolt monitoring programok, élőhely-rehabilitációs mintaprojektek megalapozzák a Fertő-táj Natura 2000 területeinek határon átnyúló kezelését, hozzájárulva a természetvédelmi besorolásának megőrzéséhez, javításához.
Read more Description (DE): Die Projektpartner haben in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten eine effektive Zusammenarbeit in den Bereichen naturgerechtes grenzüberschreitendes Management, und ökotouristische Angebotsentwicklung miteinander verwirklicht, jedoch beschränkte sich ihre Kooperation im Bereich Ökomonitoring auf einzelne Fälle ohne Institutionen dahinter.
Daher ist das übergeordnete Ziel des Projekts die Abstimmung der Naturschutzaktivitäten (hauptsächlich Ökomonitoring) auf beiden Seiten der Grenze, wobei ein neuer Ansatz mit einheitlicher Methodik sowie koordinierter Verwirklichung angewandt wird.
Deswegen haben die PPs im Zuge der Projektvorbereitung ihre laufenden Naturschutz-Monitoring-Programme einander bekannt gegeben, gemeinsam Zielspezies und Habitate ernannt, die im Rahmen des Projekts abgestimmt erforscht werden sollen. Die derart festgelegten Forschungsprojekte umfassen neben Vogelmonitoring gemeinsame botanische und faunistische Forschungen von weiteren Zielarten und Lebensräumen, und limnologische und hydrobiologische Forschungen der Neusiedler See und Hanság Gebiete. Weiters sind noch kleinere Lebensraumwiederherstellungs-Schutzmaßnahmen und die grenzüberschreitende Weiterentwicklung der Vogelbeobachtungsinfrastruktur geplant, um den Störeffekt der Besucher auf die Brutplätze zu minimalisieren.
Ziel der Partner ist, die Forschungsergebnisse neben Experten auch für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich zu machen, daher sind auch Bewusstseinsbildungsaktivitäten geplant (z.B. gemeinschaftliche Datensammlung), die die aktive Einbeziehung der lokalen Bevölkerung ermöglichen. Um den Know-how Transfer bzg. Best Practices zu fördern werden grenzüberschreitende Fachtagungen organisiert.
Koordinierte Monitoring- und Lebensraumwiederhstellungs-Programme werden als Basis für das grenzüberschreitende Management von Natura 2000-Gebieten der Neusiedler See Region dienen, und damit zur Stabilisierung und Verbesserung deren Erhaltungsgrades beitragen.
