Title of the project: Touristic Development of the Franciscan Cultural Heritage Sites of the Border Area by the Cooperation of the Two Provinces. The goal of the MONUMENTIS project is to restore the Franciscan cultural and built heritage and to open it to a wider audience by developing it to touristic attractions. Both in Hungary and Slovakia the church and the monastic orders possess historically significant buildings, some of which are open to the public, but most of them are less suited for v isitors or are completely closed off. In Hungary thanks to the religious touristic developments of the previous years, several Franciscan monuments were made available for visitors, but the conversation and development of the Slovakian order’s buildi ngs is not yet solved, making their monuments currently unsuitable for similar touristic availability. The aim of the project is twofold: chosen heritage sites of the Franciscan order on both sides are to be conserved, restored and made available to the public; and to develop the management and marketing competences of the Slovakian partner building on the experiences on the Hungarian partner. Project locations in Hungary are Szécsény and Szentkút, and in Slovakia Bratislava and Filakovo. The co operation of the two Franciscan provinces is one of a kind, and the ultimate goal of the project is to create long-term cooperation to preserve and pass on their common historical, religious and cultural heritage. The touristic opening is not only fo r pilgrims, but for all adults and children interested in historical monuments. In addition to the restoration of the buildings and monuments, community and exhibition halls and interactive elements will also be created.

Cieľom projektu MONUMENTIS je obnoviť františkánske kultúrne a nehnuteľné dedičstvo a sprístupniť ho širokej verejnosti ich zmenou na atraktívnu turistickú destináciu. Ako v Maďarsku, tak aj Slovensku vlastní cirkev a rehoľné rády historicky významné budovy, z ktorých niektoré sú pre verejnosť otvorené, no väčšina z nich je prístupná len obmedzene a mnohé sú úplne uzavreté. V Maďarsku vďaka nábožensko-turistickému rozvoju v minulých rokoch boli pre návštevníkov sprístupnené viaceré františkánske pamiatky. Starostlivosť o františkánske pamiatky na Slovensku zatiaľ nie je vyriešená, preto sú v súčasnosti tieto pamiatky v stave, ktorý neumožňuje, aby sa stali podobnými turistickými destináciami ako v Maďarsku. Cieľ projektu je dvojaký: - zachovať, obnoviť a sprístupniť verejnosti vybrané národné kultúrne pamiatky františkánskeho rádu v oboch krajinách, - na základe skúseností maďarského partnera v cestovnom ruchu rozvíjať manažérske a marketingové kompetencie slovenského partnera. Lokality projektu v Maďarsku sú Szécsény a Szentkút a na Slovensku Bratislava a Fiľakovo. Spolupráca týchto dvoch františkánskych provincií je jediná svojho druhu. Hlavným cieľom projektu je vytvoriť dlhodobú spoluprácu pre zachovanie a odovzdávanie spoločného historického, náboženského a kultúrneho dedičstva. Sprístupnenie kultúrnych pamiatok nie je určené len pre pútnikov, ale pre všetkých návštevníkov (dospelých a deti) so záujmom o historické pamiatky. Popri obnove budov a pamiatok budú vytvorené aj spoločenské a výstavné priestory, ktorých súčasťou budú interaktívne prehliadky.

A pályázat címe: A határterület ferences kulturális örökségi helyszíneinek turisztikai célú fejlesztése a két rendtartomány együttműködése által. A MONUMENTIS pályázat célja a határtérség ferences kulturális és épített örökségének felújítása és turisztikai attrakcióvá fejlesztése révén megnyitása nagyközönség számára. Mind Magyarországon, mind pedig Szlovákiában az egyházak és rendek jelentős történelmi épített örökséggel bírnak, amelyek egy része nyilvánosan látogatható, de nagyobb részük kevésbé alkalmasak látogatók fogadására vagy teljesen elzártak a nyilvánosság elől. Magyarországon az elmúlt évek egyházi turisztikai fejlesztéseinek és nyitásának köszönhetően a ferences rendtartomány több műemlékének a látogathatóvá tétele megkezdődött, de a szlovákiai rendtartomány épített örökségeinek védelme, fejlesztése nem megoldott, ezért nem jelenleg nem alkalmasak a magyarországihoz hasonló turisztikai nyitásra. A projekt célja kettős: egyrészt mindkét oldalon a kiválasztott helyszínek ferences tulajdonban lévő épített örökségi helyszíneinek védelme, felújítása, valamint látogathatóvá tétele a cél, másrészt pedig az épített örökségi helyszínek turisztikai menedzsmentjében és marketingjében járatosabb magyarországi partner tapasztalatainak átadása révén a szlovákiai partner kompetenciáinak fejlesztése. A megvalósítási helyszínek Magyarországon Szécsény és Szentkút, Szlovákiában pedig Pozsony és Fülek. A két szomszédos ferences rendtartomány együttműködés egyedülálló, és a pályázat végső célja egy hosszútávú együttműködés kialakítása a közös történelmi, vallási és kulturális örökség védelmére és továbbadására. A turisztikai nyitás nemcsak a zarándokok, de a történelmi műemlékek iránt érdeklődő felnőttek és gyermekek érdeklődésére is számot tarthat. A műemléki épületek felújítása és a műemlékek restaurálása mellett közösségi termek, foglalkoztatók és interaktív elemek kialakítására is sor kerül.

The goal of the MONUMENTIS project is to restore the Franciscan cultural and built heritage and to open it to a wider audience by developing it to touristic attractions. As a result of project implementation titled “Touristic Development of Franciscan Cultural Heritage Sites of the Border Area by the Cooperation of the Two Provinces (MONUMENTIS) (SKHU/1601/1.1/060)” within the Interreg V-A Slovakia-Hungary Cooperation Programme the restoration of the buildings and monuments, community and exhibition halls and interactive elements have been created. Project locations in Hungary are Szécsény and Szentkút, and in Slovakia Bratislava and Filakovo. Implemented activities and project elements: Restoration of cultural heritage sites: Internal and external (church, sacristy, altars, tower) restoration in the 4 locations. Tourist destination development: purchasing equipment (garden tools, medical equipments, furniture); landscaping the surroundings of the Shrine in Szentkút, digital guide system; establishing an open-air reception and building an open-air artist room and a “House of Silence” in Szentkút; digitalisation of 17th century book in Fil’akovo; virtual tours in Bratislava and Fil’akovo; adaptation of corridor and rooms for installation of exhibitions, historic friars’s room. Cultural events and products: Historia Domus research and Conference; publishing a bilingual pilgrims’ book and the revised history of the Shrine in Szentkút, travelling exhibitions in 4 themes, 2 permanent exhibitions in Fil’akovo and Bratislava with opening ceremonies.
