The ambition and objective of the project "Foresters raising public environmental awareness" is to promote the interest of inhabitants of Levice and Salgótarján region in the unique natural values of the borderland by means of original educational an d cognitive objects in the given borderland with the emphasis on youth, which shall significantly contribute to the support of tourism.For ages, the foresters at both sides of the frontier have been aware of the fact that interest in and relation to cultural and mainly natural values of a man significantly affect knowledge and publicly accessible information. However, they sensitively perceive the misunderstanding or unawareness of the importance of sustainable forest management from the side o f wide public. There is the lack of premises for environmental education and forest pedagogy in the given borderland. Therefore, in addition to the promotion of the natural values of the borderland, LESY SR and IPOLY ERDŐ decided to outline this te rritory as a forest ecosystem and the importance of sustainable forest management while conserving it for future generations.The newly built educational centres, demonstration objects, educational paths and forest pedagogues shall get forest closer t o the target groups on the area exceeding 10,000 m 2. The Forest School of Levice shall attract on the area exceeding 4,100 m2 with its innovative concept, it shall be located directly in the city and in addition to visual observation and cognition el ements, it shall introduce also the possibility of practical skill development. The Visitor Centre and the Forest School of Somoskő shall supplement the network of the facilities of similar character in Hungary on the area of more than 5 900 m 2. The suitable position of the location - the ruin of Šomoška castle and Salgó, adjacent Geopark Novohrad-Nógrád, high forest coverage and TK Karancs-Medves form the conditions for a successful functioning and all-year round utilisation of the complex

Ambíciou a cieľom projektu „Lesníci pre zvýšenie environmentálneho povedomia verejnosti“ je podporiť záujem obyvateľov regiónu Levice a Salgótarján o jedinečné prírodné hodnoty spoločného prihraničného územia prostredníctvom originálnych náučno-poznávacích objektov v predmetnom prihraničnom regióne s dôrazom na mládež, čo významnou mierou prispeje aj k podpore cestovného ruchu. Skutočnosť, že záujem a vzťah ku kultúrnym a zvlášť prírodným hodnotám človeka významnou mierou ovplyvňujú jeho vedomosti a verejne prístupné informácie si už dlhý čas uvedomujú lesníci na oboch stranách hranice. Zvlášť citlivo však vnímajú nepochopenie resp. neuvedomenie si významu trvalo udržateľného obhospodarovania lesov zo strany širokej verejnosti. V predmetnom pohraničí absentujú priestory pre environmentálnu výchovu a lesnú pedagogiku. LESY SR a IPOLY ERDŐ sa preto rozhodli okrem propagácie prírodných hodnôt prihraničného územia priblížiť toto územie ako lesný ekosystém a význam trvalo-udržateľného obhospodarovania lesov pri jeho zachovaní pre budúce generácie. Novovybudované výučbové strediská, demonštračné objekty, náučné chodníky a lesní pedagógovia priblížia les cieľovým skupinám na rozlohe viac ako 10 000 m 2. Lesná škola Levice zaujme na ploche viac ako 4 100 m2 svojím inovatívnym poňatím, bude lokalizovaná priamo v meste a prinesie okrem prvkov vizuálneho pozorovania a poznávania aj možnosti rozvoja praktických zručností. Návštevnícke centrum a lesná škola Somoskő doplní sieť zariadení obdobného charakteru v Maďarsku na ploche viac ako 5900 m 2. Vhodná poloha lokality – zrúcanina hradu Šomoška a Salgó, priľahlý Geopark Novohrad-Nógrád, vysoká lesnatosť okolia a TK Karancs-Medves vytvárajú podmienky pre úspešné fungovanie a celoročné využitie komplexu.

Az „Erdészek a környezeti nevelésért„ projekt elvárása és célja az, hogy felkeltse a Léva és Salgótarján környékén élő lakosság érdeklődését a határtérség különleges természeti értékei iránt, ismeretterjesztő és oktató eszközök segítségével hangsúlyt fektetve a fiatal korosztályra, és így nem kis hatással támogatni az idegenforgalmat is. Az erdészek a határ mindkét oldalán már hosszú ideje felismerték azt a tényt, hogy az ember viszonya a kulturális értékekhez, de kiváltképpen a természeti értékekhez nagy mértékben befolyásolja az ember tudatosságát és a nyilvánosan hozzáférhető információkat. Azt is tapasztalják, hogy a nagy nyilvánosság nem érti a fenntartható erdőgazdálkodás jelentőségét. Ebben a határtérségben hiányoznak olyan létesítmények, ahol alkalmazni lehetne az környezeti oktatást és az erdőpedagógiát. A LESY SR és az IPOLY ERDŐ ezért úgy döntöttek, hogy a határmenti természeti értékek ismertetése mellett bemutatják ezt a területet, mint erdei ökoszisztémát és egyben az erdők maradandó fenntartható gazdálkodását, amely biztosítja az erdők megmaradását a jövő generációi számára. Az újonnan épült oktató központok, bemutatóhelyek, tanösvények és az erdőpedagógusok több mint 10 000 m²erdőterületre vonatkozóan ismertetik meg az erdő jelentőségét a célcsoportokkal. A Lévai erdei iskola a 4 100 m² területén egy egészen új felfogással, bent a városban kihasználva a vizuális megfigyelés lehetőségeit, segítik a gyakorlati ügyességek fejlesztését. A Somoskői erdei iskola és a látogató központ több mint 5900 m² területtel hozzájárul a magyarországi hálózat bővítéséhez. A térség földrajzi fekvése révén - Somoskői vár, Salgó vára, Novohrad- Nógrád Geopark, magas arányú erdőterület, Karancs-Medves Tájvédelmi Körzet - alkalmas helyszín a központ egészéves kihasználására.

The ambition of the project SK-HU FOREST SCHOOLS is to promote the interest of inhabitants of Levice and Salgótarján region in the unique natural values of the borderland by means of original educational and cognitive objects in the given borderland with the emphasis on youth. LESY SR, state enterprise, together with Hungarian foresters in IPOLY ERDŐ Zrt. successfully completed construction of a unique “Forest School OZ Levice”, located directly in the town of Levice. This way, they have brought the forest to public and offer supplementary education for all interested persons. The newly-built educational complexes in Levice and Somoskő as demonstrative and educational facilities together with forest teachers within the project “Foresters for Raising the Environmental Awareness of the Public” (SKHU/1601/1.1/009) present the forest and foresters´ work to the target groups on the total area of more than 10 000 m2. Thanks to the project “Forest School OZ Levice” was constructed on the Slovak side with the total area of 4 100 m2, the largest of its kind and as a unique centre of forest pedagogy and environmental education in Slovakia. The project innovation lies in the interconnection of theoretical education at schools with practical demonstrations from forests and forestry in the new forest school complexes. It has an excursion-educational purpose for pre-school and school-age children accompanied by forest teachers. The concept is based on field trips, practical work in workshops, tactile and visual demonstrations of surfaces or samples of forest features. The complex, with its interior useful area of more than 1 000 m2, offers places for dioramas, creative workshops, a drawing room, a tree hall, an educational room with a terrace. In exterior, the forest school is surrounded by a mini-arboretum with most frequent tree species and bushes to be found in Slovak forests, wooden arbour was built and the complex is supplied with information panels. In front of the Forest school, a green pavement is bringing visitors to the Forest school with wooden facilities for games and relax not only for children but also adult visitors. The “Forest School OZ Levice” attracts attention by its innovative concept, location in the town and apart from visual observations and education features offers possibilities for practical skills development. Similarly, at the Hungarian side “Visitor Centre and Forest School” was built in the Hungarian border area nearby Salgótarján in Somoskő and it has completed the network of similar character facilities in Hungary at the area of more than 5 900 m2. The project included events for general public. The professional public has attended the exchange of experiences in the form of excursions for forest teachers around Hungarian forest schools and the forest pedagogy course for 20 forest pedagogues. For the children and youth target group various events has been organised during the project (Foresters and Sun, Children´s Hubert, Children - Foresters´ Friends) to recognize a forest in the playful form and through demonstrations of what a forest hides. In addition, educational exchanges has been organized during which children from cross border region basic schools have visited partners countries and have the possibility to get the experience about the foresters´ work and the forest. This way, the project brings the natural environment as a heritage closer to general public and offers a new product absenting at the social scale. Project has established positive relationship to perceive the nature, understand its functioning and ensure its protection.

1, null. 2, null. 3, Tangible outcomes: The results of public procurement - the signed contracts on main activities of the projects by means of contracts on work or service or the delivery of goods. 4, Tangible outcomes: The new building of the "Forest School OZ Levice" on the built-up area o 546m2 with interior equipment on 2 floors on 1,017 m2, arbour of 72 m2, mini-arboretum, fence, 50 m green path, grass areas, 628 m2 of pavements, in total on the area of 4,183 m2 in accordance with the project documentation. 5, Tangible outcomes: The new complex of the "Visitor Centre and Forest School of Somoskő" on the built-up area of 655.5 m2 with the social and didactic room on the area of 209 m2. Garden area 4950 m2. Parking places 216 m2. Road 117 m2. 6, Tangible outcomes: 3 events, 8 exchange tours for children, 20 invitation cards and leaflets announcing the events. Photo-documentation and 4 press releases published on a web page, 4 articles on the individual events published in periodicals. 7, Tangible outcomes: Invitation cards, photodocumentation and 2 press releases publishd on web page, 1 story from the excursion published in a periodical and practical experience, 20 trained forest pedagogues. 8, Tangible outcomes: 2 PC, 2 multifuction devices, 2 dataprojectors, 20 tablets, 10 cameras, 2 security systems, 2 acoustic systems, didactic, research and pedagogical aids, 20 binoculars, 2 telescopes, 2 microscopes, 1 electronic shooting gallery, educational films, books, maps and workbooks. 9, Tangible outcomes: 50 pcs of invitation cards, 1,500 pcs of bilingual leaflets on the project results, 50 sets of promotion items for the participants, 4 web presentations, 1 press conference, 1 trilingual press release, 1 TV news report, 1 article, 500 pcs of 15 min. bilingual films about the project on USB.
