Description (EN): The project aims to develop and increase the attractivity of the Nógrád-Hont border area through protection, reconstruction and development of the region’s cultural and natural heritage. The Nógrád-Hont cross-border region is not currently being cons idered a well-known and attractive tourism region, mainly due to the vicinity of famous and acknowledged regions like Budapest, the Danube-Bend, and the Low-Tatras. However, this disadvantage could be turned into a prime advantage as nowadays tourist s and locals are looking more and more for niche products, new territories, and new experiences. With the combination of classical - tourist information point construction, spa areal revitalization, - and virtual tourism development the project will lay the foundation for a new tourism development methodology. Currently there are some augmented reality AR based tourism development initiatives on the market but there are no records of any implemented location based (LB) AR tourism tool or attract ion motivating people to travel longer distances and perform specified tourism activities. This is motivating us to develop AR-LB tourism tools and attractions and to promote the Nógrád-Hont region as the first region using these developments. In ord er to reach this objective, beside the classical tourism development we will develop and test an AR-LB mobile application using 3D content, utilizing aerial photographs, historical records, etc., and we are inviting tourists and locals to take on a v irtual challenge that will make them travel across the border and visit the region’s attractions and service providers, performing specified activities in order to complete each challenge rewarded through points providing discounts at various tourism service providers. During the project implementation we will also develop various action plans and methodologies that will summarize the experiences of the above presented pilot actions.
Read more Description (HU): A projekt célja a Nógrád-Hont határmenti régió turisztikai népszerűsítése a környék kulturális és természetvédelmi örökségének megóvásával, helyreállításával és fejlesztésével. Az olyan elismert turisztikai célpontok közelsége, mint Budapest, a Dunakanyar és az Alacsony-Tátra mindezidáig háttérbe szorította e régiót, így az nem került be megfelelően a köztudatba. Ez a hátrány azonban előnnyé fordítható, hiszen manapság egyre többen - utazók és helyiek egyaránt - egyre inkább a rétegtermékeket keresik, új területeket, új élményeket. A klasszikus - látogatóközpont létesítése, gyógyfürdő környezetének felújítása, élővíz-védelem – és a virtuális turisztikai fejlesztés kombinációjával e projekt egy új turizmusfejlesztési módszertan alapjait fekteti le.
Bár léteznek már virtuális- és a kiterjesztett valóságon (VR/AR) alapuló turisztikai fejlesztési kezdeményezések, üzemelő, helymeghatározáson (LB) alapuló fejlesztés, mely a felhasználót akár nagyobb távolságok megtételére és adott turisztikai feladatok teljesítésére ösztönözi, még nem elérhető. A projekt célja ezért helymeghatározáson alapuló VR/AR attrakciók fejlesztése és ezek révén a Nógrád-Hont határmenti régió turisztikai népszerűsítése, mint VR/AR alapú látványosságokat kínáló turisztikai desztináció. E cél elérésének érdekében, a hagyományos idegenforgalmi fejlesztés mellett 3D tartalmú, AR-VR-LB alapú mobilalkalmazást fejlesztünk, légi felvételek, történelmi feljegyzések és egyéb források segítségével. Így egy virtuális kalandra hívjuk a felhasználót, melynek keretében határon átívelően keresi fel a régió látványosságait és szolgáltatóit és teljesít feladatokat, melyekért a környék turisztikai szolgáltatóinál különböző kedvezményekben részesülhet. A projekt további fontos eredményeihez számoljuk még azon sokrétű stratégiákat és akcióterveket, melyek alapjául a fent bemutatott tevékenységekből levont következtetések és tapasztalatok szolgálnak.
Read more Description (SK): Projekt je zameraný na rozvoj a zvýšenie atraktivity pohraničnej oblasti Nógrad-Hont prostredníctvom ochrany, obnovy a rozvoja kultúrneho a prírodného dedičstva regiónu.
V súčasnej dobe cezhraničný región Nógrád-Hont nemožno považovať za populárnu, turisticky atraktívnu oblasť predovšetkým kvôli blízkosti veľmi známych turistických regiónov (Budapešť, ohyb Dunaja, Nízke Tatry). Táto nevýhoda môže byť premenená na podstatnú výhodu, keďže turisti aj miestni obyvatelia v dnešnej dobe vyhľadávajú nové oblasti a skúsenosti prostredníctvom špecializovaných produktov. Vďaka kombinácii klasických - Informačné centrum, revitalizovaný kúpeľný areál so zelenými plochami, územia ochrany sladkých vôd - a rozvoja virtuálneho cestovného ruchu, položí projekt základy novej metodiky rozvoja cestovného ruchu.
Existuje niekoľko iniciatív na rozvoj cestovného ruchu na báze virtuálnej a rozšírenej reality (VR/AR), ale neboli implementované ako (VR/AR) nástroj podpory cestovného ruchu v lokalitách, resp. ako atraktivity motivujúce ľudí cestovať na dlhé vzdialenosti a za špeciálnymi aktivitami. Cieľom projektu je propagácia regiónu Nógrad-Hont ako prvej lokality s VR/AR turistickými atrakciami.
Pre dosiahnutie tohto cieľa sa popri klasickom rozvoji cestovného ruchu bude vyvíjať a testovať lokálna mobilná aplikácia (VR/AR), ktorá bude využívať 3D obsah, letecké snímky, historické záznamy, atď. Táto aplikácia bude nabádať turistov a miestnych obyvateľov prostredníctvom virtuálnej výzvy, ktorá ich bude motivovať cestovať z jednej strany hranice na druhú, navštevovať miestne atrakcie a poskytovateľov služieb v regióne a vykonávať špecifické činnosti s cieľom naplniť výzvu a získavať body a zľavy u rôznych poskytovateľov služieb cestovného ruchu.
Ďalšími dôležitými výstupy projektu sú stratégie a akčné plány, ktoré zhrnú skúsenosti z vyššie uvedených pilotných akcií.

The aim of the project was to promote the Nógrád-Hont border region in tourism, combined with the preservation, restoration and development of the cultural and nature conservation heritage of the area. The members of the consortium participating in the implementation of the project financed from the INTERREG program were the village of Bánk, Dudince, and the RTDM Rétság Nyugat-Nógrád County TDM Nonprofit Ltd.
The overall objective was to increase the tourist attractiveness of the two settlements. Both have good endowments, but it can only be exploited by creating an environment that meets the needs of the present age and by providing services that are in line with the world and technical achievements around us. In addition to preserving traditions and closeness to nature, there was a need for innovation both in creating the spectacle and in positioning it in the tourist offer of the region. Thus, in addition to the architectural renewal of the two settlements, IT and virtual reality played an important role.
In Bánk, the parking lot, the bus stop and promenade were renovated, a unique beach entrance and tourist information point at Lake Bánk was built, and a multifunctional terminal was set up, through which constantly updated information about the area and services can be accessed. RTDM Nonprofit Ltd. undertook the development of an interactive educational path, the development of a smartphone application presenting the tourist values of the area, and the design of a special vehicle devoted to tour around surrounding area.
Dudince followed a similar: the main goal was to increase the tourist attraction of the settlement. Dudince is the smallest town in Slovakia, the main source of income for the town is tourism: about three hundred thousand people visit the town and its spa every year, so it is important that the facilities and services follow the needs of the age. Within the framework of the project, the surroundings of the spa were renovated and several new facilities were created (promenade, performance stage, works of art, water structures), which provide opportunities for new leisure activities, cultural events and recreation. The virtual offer has also appeared here: through the multifunctional terminal set up, visitors can get to know the tourist attractions of the area.
