The University of Applied Science Upper Austria in Wels (FH Upper Austria) and the University of Applied Sciences Landshut (Technology Center Energy, TZE) combine their expertise in energy storage. It is planned to develop and expand the resources for cooperation in basic research such as applied research and teaching in the field of energy storage and in the field of protection technology for DC systems. An innovation-friendly research environment will be established in the border region and a joint concept for research and teaching will be developed. The TZE will be expanded as a demonstration and research facility for the development, testing and integration of storage technology into existing networks. The research focus in the field of battery systems will be supplemented by partial automation of production technology. The infrastructure in Wels will be supplemented by high voltage and high current test options. These facilities can be used to create the design basis for electrical storage systems, the necessary protection technology, as well as the basis for efficient quality assurance testing methods in the manufacture of storage systems. In teaching, the two universities cooperate in the development and implementation of seminars in the field of battery technology, grid integration and protection technology for storage systems as well as aspects of quality assurance in manufacturing.

Die FH Oberösterreich in Wels (FH OÖ) und die Hochschule Landshut (Technologiezentrum Energie, TZE) bündeln ihre Kompetenzen in der Energiespeicherung. Geplant sind der Auf- und Ausbau der Ressourcen zur „grenzenlosen“ Zusammenarbeit in Grundlagenforschung wie angewandter Forschung und Lehre im Bereich Energiespeicherung und im Bereich der Schutztechnik für Gleichstromsysteme. Ein innovationsfreundliches Forschungsumfeld wird in der Grenzregion aufgebaut. Die FH OÖ und die Hochschule Landshut erarbeiten ein gemeinsames Konzept für Forschung und Lehre zur Nutzung der Ressourcen am TZE im Bereich der Batterietechnologie und der Netzintegration. Das TZE wird dazu im Schwerpunkt als Demonstrations- und Forschungseinrichtung zur Entwicklung, Prüfung und Einbindung von Speichertechnik in bestehende Netze ausgebaut. Der Forschungsschwerpunkt im Bereich Batteriesysteme wird um Teilautomatisierung von Fertigungstechnologie ergänzt. Die Infrastruktur in Wels wird um Hochspannungs- und Hochstromprüfmöglichkeiten ergänzt. Mit diesen Einrichtungen können die Konstruktionsgrundlagen für elektrische Speichersysteme, die dafür notwendige Schutztechnik, sowie Grundlagen für effiziente Prüfmethoden zur Qualitätssicherung in der Fertigung von Speichern geschaffen werden. In der Lehre arbeiten die beiden Hochschulen bei der Entwicklung und der Durchführung von Seminaren im Bereich Batterietechnologie, Netzintegration und (Gleichstrom-)schutztechnik für Speichersysteme sowie Aspekten der Qualitätssicherung in der Fertigung zusammen. Die bestehenden Kapazitäten für die Durchführung von Seminaren und Praktika werden am TZE und an der FH OÖ entsprechend erweitert, um den Kursgrößen beider Hochschulen gerecht werden zu können.
