Das Forschungsprojekt „Die Kläranlage in der Interaktion mit der Abfall- und Energiewirtschaft: Ein Deutsch-Österreichischer Dialog“ wird federführend von der Universität der Bundeswehr München geleitet und in Zusammenarbeit mit der Universität Innsbruck, Dr.-Ing. Steinle Ingenieurgesellschaft für Abwassertechnik mbH sowie BioTreaT GmbH und verschiedenen Kläranlagen als assoziierte Partner ausgeführt. In zahlreichen Faultürmen von Kläranlagen Bayerns und Österreichs sind freie Kapazitäten vorhanden, welche mit Hilfe der sog. Co-Vergärung genutzt werden können. Hierfür werden organische i.d.R. gut abbaubare Substanzen (sog. Co-Substrate) der Faulung zugegeben, um die Faulgasproduktion zu steigern. Die daraus umgewandelte Energie kann einen wichtigen Beitrag für die Energiewende (z.B. Bereitstellung von Regelenergie) und damit für den Klimaschutz leisten. Der ländliche Raum/Alpenraum besitzt ein spezielles Potential an Co-Substraten – aus der Milchwirtschaft (Flotatschlämme aus Molkereien) und dem Tourismus (Speisereste) – das aufgrund seiner Zusammensetzung bzw. seines stark saisonalen Anfalls besondere Herausforderungen mit sich bringt. Zudem existieren Optimierungspotentiale bei der Co-Vergärung. Folgende Aspekte bilden die Hauptpunkte im Vorhaben: Erschließung von Co-Substraten im südbayerischen und österreichischen Raum; Faulgaserzeugung durch die Zugabe von Co-Substraten aus Molkereien und Gastronomie; Einfluss der Co-Substrate auf einen weitergehenden Abbau von Klärschlamm; Effiziente und flexible Faulgasnutzung: Ein Beitrag zur Energiewende und zum Klimaschutz; Ökologische, wirtschaftliche und technische Bewertung; Entwicklung eines Planungstools für die Praxis, das die Erkenntnisse aus dem Vorhaben für einen breiten Kreis verfügbar macht; Aufbau und Etablierung eines grenzüberschreitenden Clusters, welches die wissenschaftliche Forschung mit der praktischen Umsetzung, wie im Vorhaben angedacht, fortsetzt;

Description (EN):

The research project "The wastewater treatment plant in the interaction with the waste and energy industry: A German-Austrian Dialogue" is led by the University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich in cooperation with the University of Innsbruck, Dr.-Ing. Steinle Ingenieurgesellschaft für Abwassertechnik mbH and BioTreaT GmbH and various sewage treatment plants as associated partners. In numerous digestion towers of sewage treatment plants in Bavaria and Austria free capacities are available, which can be used with the help of so-called co-fermentation. For this purpose, organic, readily degradable substances are added to the digestion in order to increase the production of biogas. The energy converted from this can make an important contribution to the energy transition and thus to climate protection. The rural area / alpine region has a special potential of co-substrates - from the dairy industry (flotate sludge from dairies) and tourism (leftovers) - which brings with it special challenges due to its composition and its strong seasonal seizure. In addition, there are optimization potentials for co-fermentation. The following aspects form the main points of the project: Development of Co Substrates in the South Bavarian and Austrian Regions; Digester gas production through the addition of co-substrates from dairies and gastronomy; Influence of the co-substrates on further degradation of sewage sludge; Efficient and flexible use of biogas: a contribution to the energy transition and to climate protection; Ecological, economic and technical evaluation; Development of a planning tool for the practice, which makes the findings of the project available to a broad circle; Establishment and establishment of a cross-border cluster, which continues the scientific research with the practical implementation, as planned in the project;
