Description (EN): The main goal of the project is the CB cooperation, networking and joint R&D of SMEs, R&D institutions from less developed, non-urban areas (e.g.: Miren, Stainz, Leoben, Slovenj Gradec) and one of the leading European home appliances manufacturer on the development of polymer based solutions, which could replace stainless steel or aluminum for design demanding products in different sectors. By distributing the knowledge to other SMEs, students and R&D institutions, the R&I base in this technologically and economically relevant field will be strengthened.
The joint R&D activities will focus on a promising research area, the development and processing of cost efficient, metal look and feel a like polymer solutions. So far, for higher aesthetic value of high-end goods, stainless steel and aluminum are used for the manufacturing of parts of home appliances, lights, sports equipment, etc. For the manufacturing of more complex shapes, the use of stainless steel is technically demanding, expensive and time consuming.
The project will connect competent R&D institutions with partners from industry (Gorenje) and SMEs (Hiebler, Intra-Ligthing) and thus encourage the transfer of knowledge and expertise for developing new products and technologies. The partnership includes HE and R&D institutions (MUL, FTPO and PCCL), who will distribute the know-how and knowledge gained to students and companies in the CB area. The proposal represents a good example of CB collaboration of R&D stakeholders on a demanding technological challenge, which will lead to new joint R&D activities, foster the basis for new products&processes and lead to sustainable growth, new jobs, increased internationalization and global competitiveness of the region.
Read more Description (DE): Das zentrale Projekziel ist die grenzüberschreitende Kooperation, Vernetzung sowie gemeinsame F&E-Aktivitäten von KMUs und F&E-Einrichtungen aus weniger entwickelten, nicht-städtischen Gebeiten (e.g., Miren, Stainz, Leoben, Sloevnj Gradec) mit einem der führenden europ. Haushaltsgerätehersteller für die Entwicklung neuer polymerbasierter Lösungen, die rostfreien Stahl oder Aluminium für anspruchsvolles Design in verschiedenen Branchen ersetzen können. Durch die Disseminierung des aufgebauten Wissens zu anderen KMUs, Studenten und Forschungseinrichtungen, soll die F&E-Basis in diesem technologisch und wirtschaftlich relevantem Feld gestärkt werden.
Die gemeinsamen F&E-Aktivitäten fokussieren auf das vielversprechende Gebiet der Entwicklung und Herstellung kosteneffizienter Polymeroberflächen mit optischen und haptischen Eigenschaften von Metallen. Bislang werden zur Erzielung eines anspruchsvollen ästhetischen Erscheinungsbildes rostfreier Stahl u. Aluminium für die Herstellung hochwertiger Oberflächen von Hausgeräten, Leuchten, Sportausrüstung, etc. verwendet. Für kompliziertere Geometrien ist der Einsatz von rostfreiem Stahl technisch sehr anspruchsvoll, teuer und zeitaufwendig.
Das Projekt zielt auf die Vernetzung von F&E-Einrichtungen (MUL, FTPO und PCCL) mit Partnern aus der Industrie (Gorenje) und KMUs (Hiebler, Intra-Lighting) ab und trägt damit zum Know-how-Tranfer sowie zur Entwicklung neuer Produkte, Technologien und Dienstleistungen bei. Das Konsortium beinhaltet Hochschulen und F&E-Einrichtungen, die zur Wissensdisseminierung sowohl über ihre Studierenden als auch über Unternehmen beitragen. Der Antrag stellt ein ausgezeichnetes Beispiel für grenzüberschreitende Zusammenarbeit von F&E-Institutionen in einem technologisch herausforderndem Gebiet dar, wodurch weitere F&E-Aktivitäten stimuliert, die Entwicklung neuer Produkte und Prozesse gefördert u. zu nachhaltigem Wachstum, neuen Jobs, erhöhter globaler Wettbewerbsfähigkeit beigetragen wird.
Read more Description (SL): Glavni cilj projekta je ČM sodelovanje, povezovanje in skupne raziskovalne in razvojne aktivnosti MSP in raziskovalnih organizacij iz manj razvitih, nemestnih območjih (Miren, Stainz, Leoben, Slovenj Gradec) z enim izmed vodilnih evropskih proizvajalcev gospodinjskih aparatov na razvoju novih polimernih kompozitov, ki bi lahko nadomestil uporabo nerjavečega jekla ali aluminija pri izdelavi oblikovalsko zahtevnejših izdelkov v različnih panogah. S prenosom znanja drugim MSP-jem, študentom in R&R institucijam v ČM področju, bomo povečali R&I znanje na tem tehnološko in ekonomsko perspektivnem področju.
Skupne raziskovalne in razvojne dejavnosti se bodo osredotočile na zelo perspektivno raziskovalno področje, razvoj in predelavo stroškovno učinkovitih polimerov kovinskega videza in otipa. Z namenom zagotoviti večjo estetsko vrednost visoko pozicioniranih izdelkov, se danes uporablja nerjaveče jeklo in aluminij za izdelavo delov gospodinjskih aparatov, luči, športne opreme, ... Za izdelavo bolj kompleksnih oblik, je uporaba nerjavečega jekla tehnično zahtevna, draga in zamudna.
Projekt bo povezal pristojne R&R institucije s partnerji iz industrije (Gorenje) in MSP-jev (Hiebler, Intralighting) in s tem vzpodbudil prenos znanja in za razvoj novih izdelkov in tehnologij. Partnerstvo vključuje visokošolske in raziskovalne institucije (MUL, FTPO in PCCL), ki bodo posredovale pridobljeno znanje in rezultate raziskav študentom in podjetjem iz ČM področja. Projektni predlog predstavlja dober primer ČM sodelovanja na zahtevnem tehnološkem izzivu, ki bo vodilo k novim skupnim R&R dejavnostim, razvoju novih izdelkov in postopkov ter prispevalo k trajnostni rasti, ustvarjanju novih delovnih mest, večji internacionalizaciji in globalni konkurenčnosti regije.

Expected Outputs (EN): The main project result will be the increased knowledge and innovation capacities of partner organisations, development of a prototype (based on a flexible test-mold) along the value-chain for polymer products for substitution of metal parts together with the partner companies Gorenje and Intra lighting and the increase of knowledge of at least 30 SME’s and higher education institutions in the area of metal look and feel a like polymers in the CB region. With this we will contribute to the programme specific result indicator: "R&R Intensity".
The 3 partner companies will cooperate with R&D institutions from Slovenia and Austria and the partners MUL, FTPO and PCCL will transfer the know how gained and the good practice example of joint development to other companies, R&D institutions and students from the CB region.
Read more Expected Outputs (DE): Das Hauptresultat des Projektes wird einer Erhöhung der Know-how-Basis und der Innovationskapazitäten der Partnerorganisationen und die Entwicklung eines Prototyps (basierend auf einem flexiblen Versuchswerkezug) zur Substitution von Metallteilen durch Kunststoffe mit möglichen Anwendern (Gorenje und Intra lighting). Weiters ist der Know-how Transfer zu 30 KMUs und F&E-Einrichtungen im Bereich der Kunststoffe mit optischen und haptischen Eigenschaften von Metallen in der CB-Region vorgesehen. Damit wird zum programmspezifischen Outputindikator beigetragen: "Intensitat von F&E".
Die drei Partnerunternehmen werden mit F&E-Einrichtungen aus Slowenien und Österreich zusammenarbeiten und die Partner MUL, FTPO und PCCL werden das Know how und die Best Practice Beispiele für die gemeinsame Entwicklung auf andere Unternehmen, F & E-Einrichtungen und Studenten in der CB Region übertragen.
Read more Expected Outputs (SL): Ključni rezultat projekta bo dvig nivoja znanja in inovacijske sposobnosti partnerskih organizacij, razvoj prototipnih produktov (s pomočjo testnega orodja) za zamenjavo produktov iz kovin skupaj s partnerskimi podjetji Gorenje in Intra lighting in dvig nivoja znanja v najmanj 30 MSP-jih in R&R institucijah ter visokošolskih ustanovah iz čezmejnega območja na področju polimernih materialov, ki so na videz in otip podobni kovini. S tem bomo prispevali k programskemu indikatorju rezultata »Intenzivnost R&R«.
Tri partnerska podjetja bodo sodelovala z R&R institucijami iz Slovenije in Avstrije, partnerji MUL, FTPO in PCCL pa bodo poskrbeli za prenos tega znanja in primerov dobre prakse sodelovanja drugim podjetjem, R&R institucijam in študentom v čezmejni regiji.
