Description
Description (EN): Violence amongst children and teenagers has reached a new dimension in Austria and Hungary. Sport reduces their agression and contributes to the creation of equal opportunities. Common events, trainings and exchange activities create connections where there was no cooperation so far.
The aim of the project is to establish a sustainable cooperation between the wrestling associations in Austria and Hungary. As a core output the 8 most important organizations should be involved in these activities and 9 joint sport events (camps, training courses and competitions) should be realized.
The popularity of wrestling has decreased in Austria as well as in Hungary. Both countries are struggling with this challenge and together the wrestling associations want to solve it. A joint cross-border platform "Wrestling Without Borders" will be established to raise awareness among young people in the schools of the border region. Through advanced training courses and educational videos the knowledge base in the border region will be broader and the sport will be more attractive. Modular training courses for children and young people with a different level of knowledge will follow. The kids will compete with their neighbors in four joint tournaments and three joint training camps.
The promising cooperation of the wrestling associations, which emerged immediately after the fall of the Iron Curtain, unfortunately faded away in the last decade. Today, the joung wrestlers of those days are the presidents of the wrestling associations. They have benefited from the joint activities and would like to offer the same opportunities also to todays kids and thus revitalize and institutionalize their cooperation. The participation of a number of high-ranking strategic partners guarantees the transfer of the project results into the national level.
Read more Description (HU): Az erőszak gyermekek és fiatalok esetében mind Ausztriában mind Magyarországon egyre nagyobb mértéket vesz. A sport fontos szerepet játszik ezen fiatalok esélyegyenlőségének előmozdításában.
Ezen kihívást a birkózó szövetségek közös erővel kívánják orvosolni. A közös "Wrestling without borders" platform létrehozása által lehetővé válik a széles nyilvánosság megszólítása, ill. a határtérség fiataljainak birkózó sport iránti érdeklődésének felkeltése.

To solve this together and to get more people interested in wrestling, the project partners have created the project "Wrestling without borders".
An important focus of the cooperation was the broadening of the knowledge base in the border region through the joint training of trainers. During five training weekends, Austrian and Hungarian trainers were able to develop their professional skills. The special techniques demonstrated in the course of the advanced training of professional athletes - mainly by the freestyle specialist and Hungarian national coach and also club coach Csaba Gyurasits - were continuously recorded on video. The teaching videos include various wrestling techniques for both beginners and advanced athletes and are also available to other sports clubs. In order to bring young Austrian and Hungarian wrestlers together and to institutionalize joint cross-border sports events, joint training sessions and youth competitions were organized in the project. The particularly successful sports events (7 joint training weekends, 4 joint tournaments, 3 joint training camps) have given more than 1300 athletes the opportunity to improve their training techniques and to compete with their neighbors. In order to ensure the long-term operation of the ring sport in the VIVA State Sports Center, the training hall was separated from the other users of the hall with a separating curtain, and a separate entrance for the ring athletes and a sports surface was created. Thus, the training hall is also available for the athletes after the end of the project. To communicate the numerous advantages of wrestling, information campaigns were carried out on both sides. The Hungarian side concentrated on addressing school classes from Győr and the surrounding area and bringing wrestling closer to pupils through first playful experiences. The Austrian side focused on the topic of self-defense for girls and imparted useful techniques for averting danger and strengthening self-confidence and self-esteem. Through these information measures more than 1300 children could be reached and made aware of the positive effects of wrestling.
The most important result of the project is a cross-border network of relevant wrestling sport actors in the Austrian-Hungarian border region, which promotes interaction between the sports clubs and the exchange of experiences beyond the national border. This platform with its young talents who are enthusiastic about wrestling, qualified trainers as well as facilities for training courses and competitions forms the basis for a long-term sports cooperation which will be continued beyond the project period.
