Aan beide zijden van de grens is er een groeiende vraag naar mensen met ‘digital skills’. ‘Train4SmartServices’ speelt hierop in en wil een grensoverschrijdend trainee-programma ontwikkelen voor een duurzame inzetbaarheid van ICT professionals voor dienstverlening in diverse topsectoren zoals additive manufacturing, precisielandbouw, health en de ICT-sector zelf. In dit programma worden de deelnemers smart opgeleid via een continue integratie van ‘werken’ en ‘leren’. Enerzijds worden kandidaten geworven om als trainee ingezet te worden, anderzijds worden bedrijven en organisaties geworven waar de trainees kunnen worden geplaatst. Het totale traject heeft een duur van 18 maanden waarbij ‘samen leren’ en ‘samen werken’ ingedeeld is in vier blokken met een basis-, bedrijfs-, specialisatie- en stagemodule. Bij ‘samen leren’ ligt de focus op kerncompetenties en specialisaties, bij ‘samen werken’ gaat alle aandacht naar werkervaring op doorgroei- en expertniveau. Over de blokken heen wordt gewerkt aan soft skills, zelfprofessionalisering en projectmanagement skills. Er nemen 75 trainees deel aan het programma. De trainee, de bedrijfsmentor en de begeleider van de onderwijsinstantie werken nauw samen: de ontwikkeling van een online tool met o.a. een chatfaciliteit zorgt voor continue communicatie. Verder wordt er een beter inzicht verkregen in de grensoverschrijdende arbeidsmarkt m.b.t. smart services doordat de tekorten in competenties en de carrièrekansen voor ICT’ers in alle sectoren in kaart worden gebracht. Hierbij wordt nauw samengewerkt met de grens-infopunten, arbeidsbureaus, kamers van koophandel, Holland Expat Center en wetenschappelijke programma’s zoals ITEM.

On both sides of the border there is a growing demand for people with 'digital skills'. 'Train4SmartServices' is responding to this and wants to develop a cross-border trainee program for the sustainable deployment of ICT professionals for services in various top sectors such as additive manufacturing, precision agriculture, health and the ICT sector itself. In this program the participants are smartly educated through a continuous integration of 'working' and 'learning'. On the one hand candidates are recruited to be employed as trainees and on the other hand companies and organizations are recruited where the trainees can be placed. The total process has a duration of 18 months in which 'learning together' and 'working together' is divided into four blocks with a basic, company, specialization and internship module. In 'learning together' the focus is on core competencies and specializations, while in 'working together' all attention goes to work experience on the growth and expert level. Soft skills, self-professionalization and project management skills are being worked on across the blocks. 75 trainees take part in the program. The trainee, the business mentor and the supervisor of the educational authority work closely together: the development of an online tool with, among other things, a chat facility ensures continuous communication. Furthermore, better insight is gained into the cross-border labor market with regard to smart services because the shortages in competences and the career opportunities for IT professionals in all sectors are mapped out. This involves close collaboration with the border information points, employment offices, chambers of commerce, Holland Expat Center and scientific programs such as ITEM.

In dit programma worden de deelnemers smart opgeleid via een continue integratie van ‘werken’ en ‘leren’. Inmiddels draaien er twee groepen trainees die in de laatste fase van het traineeprogramma zijn aanbeland. Eén groep is op 5 november 2018 begonnen in Heerlen op de campus en één groep is op 7 januari 2019 van start gegaan in Hasselt op de campus. De eerste groep is in maart 2019 gestart met hun leer-werkplek, de tweede groep in mei 2019. De groepen zijn gemengd met zowel Nederlandse als Belgische trainees met diverse achtergronden. Zo betreft het niet alleen afstudeerders maar ook werknemers waarvan de huidige baan binnen afzienbare tijd eindigt als gevolg door automatisering of statushouders met een basis in IT kennis. Aan de bedrijven kant zijn er zowel grote corporate bedrijven als nadrukkelijk ook het midden - en kleinbedrijf benaderd voor deelname. Het totale traject heeft een duur van 18 maanden waarbij ‘samen leren’ en ‘samen werken’ ingedeeld is in vier blokken met een basis-, bedrijfs-, specialisatie- en stagemodule. De twee groepen hebben inmiddels de basis-,bedrijfs en specialisatiemodule afgerond en zijn eind 2019 van start gegaan met hun laatste stagemodule. Bij ‘samen leren’ ligt de focus op kerncompetenties en specialisaties, bij ‘samen werken’ gaat alle aandacht naar werkervaring op doorgroei- en expertniveau. Tevens is er extra aandacht voor de soft skills ook op de terugkomdagen. Het digitaal opleidingsportaal (YouLearn; met overkoepelende informatie over Train4smartservices voor alle betrokkenen: studenten, docenten, begeleiders vanuit bedrijven) functioneert goed naast een eigen student administratie met contactmailadres: studentinfo@train4smartservices.eu Tijdens de de midterm conferentie & educational conferentie gehouden op 3 oktober 2019 op de Corda Campus is er nadrukkelijk met trainees en aanwezige bedrijven en kennis instellingen gesproken over de huidige staat van het trainee programma en de (nabije) toekomst. De getoonde betrokkenheid van trainees en bedrijven en de bereidheid om te brainstormen geeft veel ruimte en vertrouwen om samen na te denken over de invulling van T4SS 2.0 De trainees hebben hun specialisatiemodule afgerond en zijn gestart met de laatste fase op weg naar de uiteindelijke certificering halverwege 2020, de 9 maanden durende stagemodule waarbinnen de trainees in een werkomgeving de skills inzetten en verder ontwikkelen die ze gedurende de basis- en specialisatiemodule hebben ontwikkelt. Door maandelijks een portfolio bij te houden en door hier over te sparren met een toegewezen coach en inhoudelijke bedrijfsbegeleider blijft er verbinding met het programma en ontstaat er een helder beeld bij de hard- en soft skills.

In the meantime, there are two groups of trainees who have arrived in the final phase of the trainee program. One group started on 5 November 2018 in Heerlen on campus and one group started on 7 January 2019 in Hasselt on campus. The first group started in March 2019 with their learning workplace, the second group in May 2019. The groups are mixed with both Dutch and Belgian trainees from various backgrounds. This includes not only graduates but also employees whose current job ends in the foreseeable future as a result of automation or status holders with a basis in IT knowledge. On the companies side, both large corporate companies and emphatically also small and medium-sized enterprises have been approached for participation. The total process has a duration of 18 months in which ‘learning together’ and ‘working together’ are divided into four blocks with a basic, business, specialisation and internship module. The two groups have now completed the basic, business and specialisation module and started their last internship module at the end of 2019. In ‘learning together’ the focus is on core competences and specialisations, with ‘working together’ all attention goes to work experience at the growth and expert level. There is also extra attention for the soft skills also on the return days. The digital training portal (youlearn; with overarching information about Train4smartservices for all involved: students, teachers, supervisors from companies) works well in addition to their own student administration with contact address: studentinfo@train4smartservices.eu During the midterm conference & educational conference held on 3 October 2019 at the Corda Campus, there was an explicit discussion with trainees and companies and knowledge institutions about the current state of the trainee programme and the (near) future. The demonstrated involvement of trainees and companies and the willingness to brainstorm gives a lot of space and confidence to think together about the implementation of T4SS 2.0 The trainees have completed their specialisation module and have started the final phase towards the final certification mid-2020, the 9-month internship module in which trainees in a work environment use and further develop the skills they have developed during the basic and specialisation module. By keeping a portfolio on a monthly basis and by sparring about this with an assigned coach and company supervisor, there remains a connection to the program and creates a clear picture of the hard- and soft skills.
