The aim of this project is to increase visitor numbers to cultural heritage (CH) sites in the FCE area. The region relies on tourism income, is rich in CH assets, but faces significant economic challenges. Our approach capitalises on the extensive CH assets found in the area using advanced digital technologies to allow CH sites to create new visitor experiences themselves. Specifically, two types of digital product will be developed to innovate CH sites: Visitor Intelligence (VI) Tools and Augmented Reality (AR) Interpretations. These will be hosted on a cloud system to ensure access by the widest possible group of stakeholders and to promote scalability. CH site access to VI is limited and commercial VR is cost prohibitive. VI tools focus on obtaining and analysing data about visitor experiences and will help CH sites make decisions on new AR interpretations to attract visitors and increase revenue. Three VI tools capture and analyse visitor feedback and behaviour: voice2text tool (simple data collection); a visitor profiling tool (visitor journey tracking); a TextAnalytic tool (visitor feedback analysis). Each of these tools will provide critical information to aid business model innovation (BMI); the identification of target group, digital interpretation, and monetisation opportunities. Four types of immersive AR interpretations using helmet, tablet, immersive room, and furniture devices will be developed with Fougeres Castle and Exeter Cathedral. Each AR interpretation will include advanced digital models and animations to deliver new experiences to target groups. Generic models and animations will form a library and will promote the sharing and reuse of digital assets. Scripting tools will be developed to enable CH sites to develop their own digital interpretations. The deployment of both VI and AR tools will be achieved through implementations at: Jardins de Valloires; Lorient Submarine Museum; Poldark Mine; South West Coastal Path. The project provides 8 digital tools integrated on a cloud system (8+1) and 12 AR implementations. An additional 80,000 visitors at 6 sites will be generated. An extensive database of CH stakeholders will be targeted to scale this impact further and ensure transferability. A marketing strategy will be executed for promotion and dissemination. A Scientific Interest Group will provide support beyond the duration of the project to ensure the sustainability of the solution. The collaboration between project partners capitalises on distinctive skills in Tourism, digital technologies (AR, Animation, 3D design, GPS, Text Analytics), Business (Customer Experience, Business Models), enabling the creation of an innovative integrated system to achieve practitioner and economic benefits. The project targets a cultural heritage cluster on both sides of the channel to promote a common solution to a common problem.

Le projet Vista-Ar vise à augmenter la fréquentation des sites culturels patrimoniaux (SCP) de l´espace Manche qui dépend des revenus touristiques et est riche en atouts culturels, mais se heurte aujourd´hui à des défis économiques importants. Vista-Ar souhaite inciter les SCP à créer de nouvelles expériences visiteur en adoptant des technologies numériques de pointe. Deux types de produits peuvent contribuer à l´innovation des SCP : les outils d´analyse de l´expérience visiteur (VI pour Visitor Intelligence) et les applications en réalité augmentée (RA). Un système de cloud assurera leur disponibilité pour le plus grand nombre de sites. Leur accès aux outils VI est actuellement limité et la RA est vendue à un coût prohibitif. Les outils VI collectent et analysent les données relatives aux expériences des visiteurs. Ils peuvent ainsi aider les SCP à mettre en place de nouveaux dispositifs en RA pour attirer davantage de visiteurs et augmenter les recettes. Trois outils VI permettront la collecte et l´analyse des commentaires et des comportements des visiteurs : outil voice2text (collecte simple de données), outil profilage visiteur (suivi du parcours) et outil TextAnalytic (analyse des commentaires des visiteurs). Chacun d´eux fournit des informations essentielles pour améliorer l´innovation, l´identification du groupe cible, l´interprétation numérique et les possibilités de rentabilité. Quatre types de dispositifs en RA (casque, tablette, salle immersive, mobilier numérique) seront développés en collaboration avec le château de Fougères et la cathédrale d´Exeter. Chaque application en RA inclura des modèles et des animations numériques de pointe pour offrir de nouvelles expériences aux groupes cibles. Les modèles et animations génériques constitueront une bibliothèque afin de favoriser le partage et la réutilisation des données numériques. Des outils de scénarisation seront développés pour permettre aux SCP de développer leurs propres applications. Les outils VI et RA seront déployés en fin de projet dans 4 sites : Jardins de Valloires, Musée sous-marin de Lorient, Mine de Poldark, Chemin côtier du South West.Le projet prévoit 8 outils numériques intégrés à un cloud system et 12 solutions de RA. 80 000 visiteurs supplémentaires sont attendus dans les 6 sites. Une vaste base de données d´acteurs du patrimoine culturel sera créée afin d´optimiser les retombées et d´assurer la transférabilité. Une stratégie marketing sera mise au point pour assurer la promotion et la diffusion du projet. La richesse de la collaboration entre les partenaires provient de la complémentarité de leurs compétences dans le domaine du tourisme, du numérique et de l´économie (expérience client, business model). Elle permettra la création de systèmes innovants pour optimiser les retombées économiques. Le projet vise à terme à créer un pôle patrimonial (structure de type GIS) unissant les deux côtés de la Manche pour promouvoir une solution commune à un problème commun.
