Description (DE):

Durch die Entwicklung einer Komplettlösung, die sowohl saubere Energieerzeugung (Gezeitenenergie), als auch sichere Einspeisung ins Netz und Speicherung überschüssiger Energie mithilfe von Wasserstoff gewährleistet, trägt dieses Projekt zur Reduktion energiebedingter Kohlendioxidemission in Nordwesteuropa (NWE) bei. Außerdem wird ITEG bisher nur in Flüssen verwendete Technologien mit waagerecht Achse für die Gezeitenenergie nutzen, also im Umfeld des Meeres, das mit seinen viel größeren Ressourcen eine potenziell ergiebigere Ausbeutung ermöglicht.< Für Gezeitenenergy sind die Kosten vorkommerzieller Demonstrationen hoch. Investoren investieren daher eher zögerlich, solange sich die Technologie im Meer nicht im realen Maßstab bewährt hat. Dieses Projekt wird diese Kosten (wichtigster Faktor der den Einsatz erschwert) durch die Entwicklung einer integrierten Lösung verringern. Die im Rahmen des ITEG-Projekts vorgesehenen Investitionen betreffen vor allem den Bau eines 2MW-Gezeitenenergie-Wandlers mit waagerecht Achse und den Einsatz einer integrierten Wasserstoffproduktionslösung. Nach einer gründlichen Demonstrationsphase werden Businesspläne für den Bau von zwei weiteren Turbinen am EMEC-Standort entwickelt (eine von 2 MW und eine von 2 MW), wodurch die Nennleistung des Parks auf 4 MW steigt. Darüber hinaus erschließen die Projektpartner Möglichkeiten für Geschäftsprojekte quer durch die Regionen Nordwesteuropas mit dem Ziel, jährlich 100 MW zu installieren. Diese Entwicklungen werden sich auch auf Aspekte, die dem Spezifischen Ziel 3 des INTERREG-Programms entsprechen, positiv auswirken: mehr als 1500 Arbeitsplätze beibehalten, mehr Energieerzeugung aus erneuerbaren Quellen (350GWh/Jahr mehr) und eine Reduktion von THG-Emissionen um 300,000 Tonnen/Jahr, was unerlässlich für die Bekämpfung der globalen Erderwärmung ist.

Ce projet a pour objectif de réduire les émissions de CO2 dans le nord-ouest de l´Europe, en développant une solution tout-en-un, qui intègre la production propre d´énergie par des hydroliennes, le management de l’énergie produite (injection sur le réseau ou stockage) et le stockage sous forme hydrogène grâce à un électrolyseur. De plus, ITEG permettra aux technologies hydroliennes à axe horizontal, aujourd’hui pas encore exploitées commercialement en environnement marin. Le coût de démonstration pré-commerciale pour les énergies océaniques est élevé et les investisseurs sont de moins en moins enclins à financer des technologies tant qu´elles n´ont pas été testées en pleine mer. Ce projet va permettre de réduire ces coûts de développement en déployant et en optimisant une solution intégrée pour la rendre commercialisable. La construction d´une turbine à axe horizontal de 2MW et d’un électrolyseur constituent le principal investissement envisagé pour le projet ITEG. Après une première période de test, une autre turbines serra construite pour augmenter la ferme pilote a 4MW pour un déploiement a EMEC. Ce projet permettra de déployer, d’ici 10 ans, 3 à 5 nouveaux projets totalisant 100MW de capacité installée. Ces développement sont bénéfiques pour l’objectif spécifique 3 du programme Interreg et entrainera le maintien de plus de 1500 emplois, la croissance de production d’énergie d’origine renouvelable (+350GWh/an) ainsi que la réduction d’émission de gaz à effet de serre ( - 300 000 tonnes/an), permettant ainsi de répondre aux enjeux liés au réchauffement climatiques.

Description (EN):

This project will address energy-related carbon emissions in North-West Europe (NWE) through the development of an all-in-one solution that includes clean predictable energy generation (tidal energy), safe export to the grid and the storage and delivery of the excess capacity in hydrogen. Furthermore, ITEG will develop horizontal axis tidal energy technologies (currently not yet commercially exploited in the marine environment). The cost of pre-commercial demonstration for Ocean Energy is high and investors are reluctant to invest until the technology has been proven in the sea at scale. This project will drive down these costs (which is the main factor limiting its uptake) through the development of an integrated solution. Construction of a 2MW horizontal axis tidal converter and deployment of an integrated hydrogen production solution are the main investments envisaged through the ITEG project. Following a thorough demonstration period business plans will be developed for the construction of one more turbine (expanding the farm nominal power to 4MW) to be deployed at the EMEC site. In addition to this the project partners will develop opportunities for commercial projects across the North-West Europe region and globally with a target of 3 to 5 new farms with a total of 100MW installed per year in a ten years time. These developments will lead to benefits in line with INTERREG Programme Specific Objective 3: jobs maintained (>1500 jobs), increased capacity of renewable energy production (plus 350GWh/year) and a reduction in GHG emissions (less 300,000 tons/year) which is vital to address global warming.
