Description (DE):

GrnWN befasst sich mit dem hohen Energieverbrauch und den Kohlendioxidemissionen der Wasserstraßen-Direktionen (NWO) in NWE. Wasserpumpanlagen und systeme ermöglichen die kontinuierliche Nutzung von Wasserstraßen, müssen jedoch umweltfreundlicher und energieeffizienter gestaltet werden, was aufgrund von Budgetkürzungen häufig eine untergeordnete Priorität hat. Das Projekt ermöglicht das gemeinsame Testen neuer Technologien und deren Anwendung. Die Pumpfunktion sichert die Betreibung der Wasserwege, verbraucht aber 25 - 33% des jährlichen Energievolumens und stösst ca 60% des gesamten CO2 der WMOs aus. Das Projekt hat drei Phasen: Bestandsaufnahme derzeitiger technischer Anlagen und Analyse von Aufwertungsmöglichkeiten; Identifizierung neuer technischer Ausrüstung und Testen auf Anwendbarkeit; Entwicklung gemeinsamer öffentlicher Ausschreibungsrichtlinien und langfristiger Investitionspläne. GrWN wird andere WMOs von den Projektergebnisses überzeugen, sodass diese ihre Anlagen gemäß der Testgebnisse aufwerten können. Wir schätzen, dass wir jährlich 778.000 KWh Energie einsparen und den CO2 Ausstoss um 195 Tonnen verringern können. Die wichtigsten Ergebnisse werden eine Bestandsaufnahme, Technologietests und die Entwicklung von Investitions-, Geschäfts- und Ausschreibungsrichtlinien sein, die durch ein Industrienetzwerk weiter verbreitet werden. Anderen WMOs werden die Resultate übermittelt, sodass sie neue Installationen tätigen können, wenn bestehende Anlagen ihr natürliches Ende erreicht haben. Umweltorganisationen, Vertreter der Industriebranche und Netzwerke technischer Experten werden die Ergebnisse übernehmen um Investitionsbarrieren für die Umsetzung zu überwinden und um das Oeffentlichkeitsbewusstsein zu erhöhen. Langzeitig ist geplant dass WMOs auch ausserhalb NWE sich der Ergebnisse annehmen und die grüne Pumpentechnologie auch in den Unterhalt ihrer Wasserwege übernehmen.

Green WIN se concentre sur la consommation excessive d´énergie et les émissions de carbone des organisations de gestion de l´eau (OGE) en NWE. Le pompage de l´eau est nécessaire pour maintenir les voies de navigation pendant la transition vers des solutions éconergétiques. Cependant, les compressions budgétaires limitent leur capacité d´agir. L´eau pompée a un impact significatif sur le carbone; 25-33% de la consommation d´énergie annuelle des OGE dans la région de l´Europe du Nord-Ouest et environ 20% de leurs émissions de carbone sont causés par cela. Le projet couvre à la fois les voies navigables touristiques et les réseaux de fret. C´est en 3 phases: -Audit de l´équipement et portée actuelle; -Expérimenter avec des technologies et tester leur potentiel d´adaptation; -Recommandations en termes d´investissement, d´achat et de planification de projet. Nous encourageons les autres OGE de l´ENO à utiliser les processus développés et à adopter (ou adapter aux technologies existantes) les technologies vertes testées. Le potentiel de réduction d´énergie est estimé à 778 000 KWh et les émissions de CO2 à 195 Tonnes par an. Les principaux résultats sont des technologies éprouvées, des recommandations d´investissements, d´approvisionnement et de progrès, et le déploiement d´un réseau d´acteurs. Ce faisant, le projet encouragera également d´autres gestionnaires de l´eau à remplacer leur équipement à la fin de leur vie. Les réseaux de gestion des PME et de l´eau seront impliqués dans la promotion des résultats des projets afin d´éliminer les obstacles qui empêchent le déploiement et la sensibilisation. À long terme, le projet accélérera l´adoption des technologies vertes au-delà des partenaires du projet et réduira la consommation d´énergie et les émissions de carbone.

Description (EN):

Grn WN addresses excess energy use and high carbon emissions Waterway Management Organisations (WMO’s) cause across NWE. They rely on pumping equipment and systems to keep waterways operational, but need to adapt and make this infrastructure more carbon efficient. Cost pressures restrict WMO’s from taking such steps. The project tackles this by jointly trialling such technologies on their behalf and more efficient ways of deploying them. Pumping water has a big carbon impact across NWE, accounting for 25% - 33% of WMO’s annual electricity use and c20% of total emissions. The project focuses on waterways in BE, FR, IE, NL, and UK, which are used for freight and for recreational uses and has 3 stages; -Audit current equipment/scope for improvement. -Pilot technologies and test their potential for adaptation. -Investment, procurement and business planning guidelines. GrnWN improves things by convincing other WMO’s to use the processes developed, and adopt (or adapt existing) greener technologies piloted. The estimated net change we aim to demonstrate is 778,000 kWh energy saved, and 195 Tonnes CO2 emissions reduced. Main outputs and pilots will be an infrastructure audit, technology trials, investment, procurement and business planning guidelines (a Greener Pumping Technologies Toolkit) and an established support network. GrnWN will roll these out to other WMO’s by encouraging them to carry out new installations as their existing equipment reaches ‘end of life’. Environmental groups, industry and water managers’ networks will act as advocates, promoting the outputs of the project and helping reduce barriers to wider uptake/greater public awareness. Long term effects will be greater take up of greener technologies by WMO’s outside the partnership, lower energy usage, reduced emissions and more WMO’s involved in taking forward the technologies demonstrated in the project.

Expected Outputs (EN): Partners install new technolgies at 11 out of 248 of their pumps through the project. In 2017 operating these used 5.2m KWh energy and emitted 1,300 Tonnes of CO2. The 20,000km NWE waterway network currently emits c. 44,300 Tonnes p.a. from pumping.
