Description (EN): LL4WIDE will help SMEs to bring products to market for the water sector. It will accelerate time to market, and assist SMEs to develop products that are market-ready and linked to key sector needs.
In a competitive global water market, pre-commercial testing is difficult and costly at operational scale and investors are reluctant to invest in unproven technology, so it can take 15-20 years to bring new technology to market. To increase market opportunities in this fast growing sector, LL4WIDE will help SMEs from across NWE to test their innovative water technologies at TRL 5-8. This will be achieved by creating a transnational network of operational scale demonstrator sites in UK, FR, DE, NL and BE, which will offer a range of water types, clean and waste water, in rural and urban settings, for specialist applications such as pharma or agricultural. The test sites will be accessible to SMEs from anywhere in NWE, and the project has secured associate partners in other NWE countries to assist this access. By working closely with SMEs, offering them an integrated package of support and linking them to the best possible site for their needs, validation and commercialisation of near to market water solutions will be accelerated, providing an investor ready pipeline of new products and processes.
The change the project will deliver is to accelerate the time to market, increase the proportion of products reaching the market, and supporting innovative technologies through the complex processes of verification and validation, which create particular pressures in the water sector. At least 120 SMEs will be supported by testing 90 new technologies, of which 30 will be brought to the market by the SMEs.
In the long term, the network will remain in place after the project lifetime. A business model will be developed to continue collaboration between partners and provide access to the network of test facilities for SMEs on a paid-for basis after the project
Read more Description (DE): LL4WIDE wird KMU bei der Entwicklung marktreifer bedarfsgerechter Produkte für den Wassersektor unterstützen und die Markteinführungszeit verkürzen. Im globalen kompetitiven Wassersektor sind großtechnische vorkommerzielle Prüfungen schwierig und teuer, ungeprüfte Technologien jedoch für Investoren unerwünscht. Eine Markteinführung eines Produktes kann 15 bis 20 Jahre dauern. Zur Erhöhung der Marktchancen in diesem schnell wachsenden Marktsegment wird LL4WIDE KMU aus NWE bei der Erprobung innovativer Technologien im fortgeschrittenen Entwicklungsstadium (TRL5-8) durch die Schaffung eines transnationalen Netzwerkes von Demonstrationsanlagen in UK, FR, DE, NL& BE unterstützen. Diese repräsentieren unterschiedliche Wassertypen (Trinkwasser, Abwasser), unterschiedliche Umgebungen (ländlich, urban) und unterschiedliche Anwendungen (pharmazeutisch, landwirtschaftlich). Die Zugänglichkeit für KMU aus dem ganzen NWE-Gebiet wird durch weitere assoziierte Partner gewährleistet. Durch die enge Zusammenarbeit mit den KMU wird diesen ein integrales Unterstützungspaket geboten, das den Kontakt zu der bestmöglichen Demonstrationsanlage für den jeweiligen Bedarf herstellt, so dass die Validierung und Kommerzialisierung annähernd marktreifer Produkte beschleunigt wird und ein investorgerechter Ablauf neuer Produkte und Prozesse erfolgt. Durch das Projekt wird eine Verkürzung der Markteinführungszeit, eine Erhöhung des Anteils marktreifer Produkte und eine Unterstützung innovativer Technologien bei dem im Wassersektor unumgänglichen Prozess der Verifizierung und Validierung erreicht. Durch die Prüfung von 90 neuen Technologien von mindestens 120 KMU sollen ca. 30 Technologien zur Marktreife gelangen. Nach Ende der Projektlaufzeit wird das Netzwerk der Demonstrationsanlagen weiterbestehen und ein Geschäftsmodell entwickelt, um die Zusammenarbeit zwischen den Partnern fortzusetzen, sodass für KMU auf einer kostenpflichtigen Basis der Zugang zu dem Netzwerk möglich ist.
Read more Description (FR): LL4WIDE aidera les PMEs du domaine de l’eau en diminuant la durée nécessaire à la mise sur le marché de leurs produits et en identifiant les besoins clés du secteur. Dans le marché global très compétitif de l’eau, les tests pré-commerciaux à l’échelle opérationnelle sont difficiles et coûteux, et les investisseurs sont réticents face à des technologies qui n’ont pas fait leurs preuves. 15 à 20 ans peuvent être nécessaires pour qu’une nouvelle technologie s’implante sur le marché. Pour augmenter les opportunités commerciales dans ce domaine qui croît très vite, LL4WIDE aidera les PME d’ENO à tester leurs technologies aux TRL 5 à 8. Pour ce faire, un réseau UK, FR, DE, NL et BE de sites de démonstrateurs sera créé, offrant une large gamme de types d’eau, naturelles et usées, rurales ou urbaines, y compris des applications spécifiques telles que pharmaceutiques ou agricoles. Les infrastructures seront accessibles pour toutes les PMEs d’ENO et le projet s’est adjoint des partenaires associés dans d’autres pays d’ENO pour étendre le réseau. Par un travail de proximité avec les PMEs leur offrant un ensemble intégré d’aides et les mettant en lien avec la structure la plus appropriée pour leurs besoins, la validation et la commercialisation de solutions proches du marché seront accélérées, créant une gamme de produits et procédés prêts pour les investisseurs.
Les changements qu’engendrera le projet sont d’accélérer la mise sur le marché, d’augmenter la proportion de produits atteignant le marché, et de soutenir les technologies innovantes dans les processus complexes de vérification et validation qui créent des pressions particulières dans le domaine de l’eau. Au moins 120 PMEs seront aidées via le test de 90 technologies dont 30 seront mises sur le marché.
Le réseau sera maintenu au-dela de la vie du projet. Un modèle économique sera developpé pour continuer la collaboration et fournir aux PMEs l’accès au reéseau sur une base payante.

Expected Outputs (EN): Market research shows it can take up to 20 years for SMEs to commercialise new products and services in the water sector. Further, there is a lack of operational scale facilities for testing of new products (currently at TRLs 4-6) in the water and wastewater sector to assist SMEs commercialise. SMEs currently do not have access to international facilities, and are limited to local availability. The project will shorten the timescale and increase the number of new products entering the market.
