Description (EN): Although the Danish and the German parts of the program region are historically closely linked, there is a lack of knowledge of the educational culture in the respective other part, and apart from the immediate border area there is only little bilateral contact. This hinders the development of cooperation in the area of education and beyond. In the intended project, mathematics is to be used as the central subject of communication, exchange, and collaboration to improve mutual cultural understanding. This novel approach is derived from the fact that mathematics is not only a major driving force in science and technology, but also a cornerstone of world culture which, because of its abstractness and uniformity, is accepted and understood as a universal language beyond national, ideological, or religious barriers.
The projects targets diverse population groups by focusing on the establishment of cross-border mathematical student competitions, the creation of opportunities for students to meet through the joint work in the area of mathematical modelling, the promotion of the general public's mathematical interest in the program region along with the propagation of a realistic picture of mathematics, and the production of the necessary language materials. To do the practical work associated with this, people from both parts of the program region meet, learn about the other culture, and use their different experiences to jointly search for methods and solutions. In this process mathematics is used as a bridge between the German and the Danish languages.
A better knowledge of the respective other region with its characteristics and opportunities, the existence of customized sources of information, a multitude of personal connections, and established structures as a result of the project shall, in the long term, improve the attractiveness of the program region for the people, for joint projects in the area of education, to study abroad at the partner university, and to take up employment on the other side of the border. The partners also benefit in their internationalization efforts.
Read more Description (DA): Skønt den danske og tyske del i programregionen er tæt knyttet til hinanden historisk set, er der alligevel i vid udstrækning manglende kendskab til uddannelseskulturen i den pågældende anden del af programregionen. Bortset fra området direkte ved grænsen er der kun meget få binationale kontakter.
Denne faktiske omstændighed vanskeliggør udvikling af samarbejde inden for uddannelsesområdet og på andre områder.
I det planlagte projekt skal matematik anvendes som central genstand i kommunikationen, udvekslingen og samarbejdet for at forbedre den indbyrdes forståelse for kulturen.
Denne nye tilgang udledes af den kendsgerning, at matematik ikke kun er hoveddrivkraften bag naturvidenskab og teknik, men en hjørnesten i verdenskulturen, som er accepteret pga. sin abstraktion og ensartethed hen over nationale, ideologiske og religiøse barrierer og forstås som et universelt sprog.
Projektet har hovedområder, som henvender sig til forskellige grupper i befolkningen, som f.eks. opbygning af grænseoverskridende, matematiske elevkonkurrencer, skabelse af muligheder for, at de studerende kan lære hinanden indbyrdes at kende ved fælles matematiske opgaver og modelopstillinger, fremme af borgernes interesse for matematik i projektregionen kombineret med formidling af et realistisk billede af matematikken og udarbejdelse af det hertil nødvendige sprogmateriale.
Via dette fælles og helt konkrete arbejde mødes menneskerne fra begge dele af programregionen og lærer hinanden og det pågældende andet lands kultur at kende. Ved at udnytte forskellige erfaringsgrundlag søges metoder, og i fællesskab findes løsninger.
Matematikken benyttes i den forbindelse som brobygger mellem det tyske og danske sprog.
Med et bedre kendskab til den pågældende anden region med dets egenart og chancer, ved forekomsten af individualiserede informationskilder, forskellige personlige kontakter og voksende strukturer som projektresultat, er det formålet, at tiltrækningskraften for interregionen på lang sigt øges for alle borgere, at interessen vækkes enten for fælles projekter inden for uddannelsesområdet, for et studie i udlandet på et partneruniversitet, eller for et arbejde på den anden side af grænsen.
Read more Description (DE): Obwohl der dänische und deutsche Teil der Programmregion historisch eng miteinander verbunden sind, besteht weitestgehend Unkenntnis über die Bildungskultur des jeweils anderen Teils und gibt es abseits der direkten Grenzregion nur wenige binationale Kontakte. Diese Tatsache erschwert die Entwicklung der Kooperation im Bildungsbereich und darüber hinaus. Im geplanten Projekt soll die Mathematik als zentraler Gegenstand von Kommunikation, Austausch und Zusammenarbeit verwendet werden, um das gegenseitige Kulturverständnis zu verbessern. Dieser neue Ansatz wird aus der Tatsache abgeleitet, dass die Mathematik nicht nur eine Haupttriebkraft von Naturwissenschaft und Technik ist, sondern ein Grundpfeiler der Weltkultur, der wegen seiner Abstraktion und Einheitlichkeit über nationale, ideologische und religiöse Barrieren hinweg akzeptiert ist und als universelle Sprache verstanden wird.
Das Projekt hat auf verschiedene Bevölkerungsgruppen gerichtete Schwerpunkte wie den Aufbau grenzüberschreitender mathematischer Schülerwettbewerbe, die Schaffung von Möglichkeiten des Kennenlernens von Studierenden über gemeinsame Arbeit im Bereich Mathematik und Modellierung, die Förderung des Mathematikinteresses der Bürger in der Interregion verbunden mit der Vermittlung eines realistischen Mathematikbildes und die Erstellung dazu nötiger Sprachmaterialien. Über die damit verbundene ganz konkrete Arbeit kommen die Menschen aus beiden Teilen der Programmregion zusammen, lernen sich und die jeweils andere Kultur kennen, suchen unter Nutzung verschiedenartiger Erfahrungen gemeinsam nach Wegen und Lösungen. Die Mathematik wird dabei als Brücke zwischen der deutschen und dänischen Sprache genutzt.
Durch bessere Kenntnis der jeweils anderen Region mit ihren Eigenheiten und Chancen, durch das Vorhandensein individualisierter Informationsquellen, vielfältiger persönlichen Verbindungen und gewachsener Strukturen als Ergebnis des Projekts soll langfristig die Attraktivität der Interregion für alle Bürger, für gemeinsame Projekte im Bildungsbereich, für ein Auslandsstudium an der Partneruniversität, für die Aufnahme einer Arbeit auf der anderen Seite der Grenze steigen. Die Partner profitieren auch in ihren Bestrebungen um eine stärkere Internationalisierung.

The two editions of MatOnline in 2020 have further boosted visitor numbers and the online newspaper shows a significantly increasing trend in terms of interest.
We find that with MatOnline we have created a medium that can be geared towards the future and give users insight into mathematics in our culture.
AP2 and AP6:
The activities on Facebook that are starting from 2. Lockdown was particularly intensified as of November, contributing to the project not being forgotten, although it can't hold face-to-face events. The posts are kept short, are bilingual with as analogue language as possible, are intended to stimulate outdoor activity, contain math questions (and a week later the answers) and try to cover all target groups.

Die zwei Ausgaben von MatOnline in 2020 haben den Besucherzahlen einen weiteren Auftrieb gegeben und die Online-Zeitung weist in Bezug auf das Interesse einen deutlich zunehmenden Trend auf.
Wir finden, dass wir mit MatOnline ein Medium geschaffen haben, das in die Zukunft ausgerichtet werden und den Benutzern Einblick in die Mathematik in unserer Kultur geben kann.
AP2 und AP6: Die Aktivitäten auf Facebook, die ab dem 2. Lockdown ab November noch besonders intensiviert wurden, haben dazu beigetragen, dass das Projekt nicht in Vergessenheit gerät, obwohl es keine Präsenzveranstaltungen abhalten kann. Die Posts werden kurz gehalten, sind zweisprachig mit möglichst analogem Sprachgebrauch, sollen Outdoor-Aktivität anregen, enthalten Mathematik-Fragen (und eine Woche später die Antworten) und versuchen, alle Zielgruppen abzudecken.
