Challenges: The rehabilitation of people with serious illnesses and permanent restrictions is under great pressure by the increasing aging and age-related problems. Both the quality and the scale of the rehabilitation may be compromised and may deteriorate. The use of rehabilitation technology (RT) offers excellent opportunities to support high-quality rehabilitation care. However, many RT innovations do not mature and are not implemented in the rehabilitative care. This is partly caused by a lack of essential knowledge exchange and collaboration between healthcare domain experts (treating physicians & patients), innovative (SMEs) companies and relevant knowledge institutions. Technology is also often erroneously used in the rehabilitation (because a thorough impact assessment is missing), whereby patients may be harmed. Global goals: i2-CoRT aims at both the development and the implementation of complex RT to accelerate innovations, thereby improving the quality, the evaluation and the availability of innovative RT products in rehabilitation care. Two intimately interrelated routes will be followed, i.e. a procedural and infrastructural route (= development of 3 clinical testing centres in the vicinity of rehabilitation centres with a network of knowledge institutions and companies around it), a concrete product-oriented route (= model projects where concrete RT innovation-ideas are tested and which serve as examples to the procedures from route 1). In i2-CoRT implementable products, new knowledge and new business will arise from BOTH routes. Main activities: Development of 3 clinical testing centers. extension of the Euregional knowledge-axis Rehabilitation Robotics towards a Knowledge-axis rehabilitation technology , in which experts from rehabilitation centres, (SMEs) companies and knowledge institutions work together. Development and evaluation of new RT products which, together with companies and knowledge institutions, will be exploited and implemented. Promotion of Euregional comparison (e.g. content, legislative framework, market differences) and exchange of success elements. Promotion of cross-border activity in the field of RT innovation and (new) care services. Main output: Innovation-friendly, cross-border business environment for RT innovation, in 3 clinical testing centres (work package (WP) I1 - I3 + WP T10 + T11); Standard Operation Protocols. specifying test procedures and methodology (WP T1). recruitment of new (SMEs) businesses with RT innovation-ideas (WP T2). rehabilitation certification t.a.v. use/application of developed RT innovations (WP T3). structured, supraregional implementation of RT innovations developed(WP T4). New RT products from model-projects (WP T5-T9). new prototype robot for training the arm-hand in patients (WP T5). portable sensor system to assess daily arm-hand skills performance in patients (WP T6). measuring instruments for the assessment of wheelchair sitting and seating problems (WP T7). new instrument to gauge muscle strength and precision in bimanual skill performance(WP T8). new hand orthosis which actively supports the finger opening/closure, and an orthotic-concept that facilitates training of hand muscles (WP T9). Broad implementation and valorisation of innovations from WP T5 - WP T9 (WP T10). Business plans to perpetuate the clinical test centres and the i2-CoRT network (WP T11). Added value for cross-border cooperation: Complementarity. all i2-CoRT partners bring in unique and complementary knowledge and expertise as to RT-development and (clinical) application. Adherence size & scaling advantages. All three rehabilitation centres cover a very large adherence area. This allows innovation products to be tested quickly, adequately and with a relevant populationsize. This also offers excellent opportunities for (regionally different) input of experiences of experts/patients. Cross-border comparison: RT innovations are tested/evaluated under German, Flemish, Walloon and Dutch law-regulations and treatment practices, whereby Euregional comparison and exchange of success elements may take place.

Défis: La réhabilitation des personnes atteintes de maladies graves sont sous forte pression du au vieillissement croissant. La qualité et l’ampleur de l’offre de réadaptation menacent d’être surpassé ou de se détériorer. L’utilisation des technologies de réadaptation (TR) offre d’excellentes opportunités à l’avenir pour soutenir et assurer la prise en charge rééducative de haute qualité. Beaucoup d’innovations TR ne viennent pas à maturité et ne sont pas implémentées dans les soins de réadaptation. C’est en partie causé par l’absence de l’échange de connaissances essentielles et de la collaboration entre experts du domaine santé, des entreprises innovantes et les institutions de connaissances. En outre, la technologie est souvent utilisée d’une mauvaise façon, ce qui peut endommager les patients. Objectifs: i2-CoRT vise à accélérer le développement et la mise en œuvre d’innovations de TR. Ainsi, la qualité, l’examen de la qualité et l’effet ainsi que la disponibilité de nouveaux produits de TR dans les soins de réadaptation seront augmentés. Deux routes cohérentes sont suivies sur lesquelles des connaissances, des produits réalisables et de nouvelles activitées seront créés: une route procédurale et infrastructurelle (dans ce cas l’élaboration de deux centres d’essais cliniques à proximité des centres de réadaptation avec un réseau d’institutions du savoir et des entreprises autour d’elles;. une route concrète, axée sur les produits (dans ce cas quelques soi-disant trajectoires de ‘modèle’ où des idées d’innovation de TR sont élaborées et servent comme des exemples à tester et concrétiser les procédures de la route 1. Activités: - Développement de 3 centres d’essais cliniques. - Développement d’un axe de connaissance « technologie de réadaptation », dans lequel des experts de centres de réadaptation, les entreprises et les établissements de recherche collaborent. - Élaboration et évaluation de nouveaux produits de TR qui sont valorisés et mises en œuvre, conjointement avec les entreprises et les établissements de recherche. - Promouvoir la comparaison Eurégionale (p.ex. contenu du cadre législatif, des différences de marché) et l’échange d’éléments de succès. - Promotion de l’activité transfrontalière dans le domaine de l’innovation TR et des (nouveaux) services de soins en réadaptation. - (Gestion de projets et activités de communication). Résultats principaux: L’environnement des affaires transfrontalières propice à l’innovation pour l’innovation de TR, avec trois centres de tests cliniques. Des protocoles pour: - Gérer les procédures et la méthode d’essai. - Recruter de nouvelles entreprises, avec des idées d’innovation de TR. - Certification de réhabilitation concernant des innovations de TR développées. - Mise en œuvre suprarégionale des innovations de TR développées. - Des nouveaux produits de TR venant des trajectoires de modèle: * Un nouveau prototype de robot pour l’entrainement du membre supérieur. * Un système de capteurs portables pour évaluer les compétences du membre supérieur. * Des instruments de mesure pour l’évaluation des problèmes, liés à la position assise chez les utilisateurs de fauteuils roulants. * Un nouvel instrument pour entrainer la précision / puissance des compétences bi-manuel. * Une nouvelle orthèse de main/poignet qui soutient activement l’ouverture et la fermeture des doigts, ainsi qu’un concept d’orthèse, qui facilite l’entrainement des muscles intrinsèques de la main. - Application et valorisation à grande échelle les nouvelles innovations du projet. - Le business plan consiste à perpétuer les centres d’essais cliniques et le réseau i2-CoRT. Valeur ajoutée pour la coopération transfrontalière: ComplémentaritéTous les acteurs apportent des connaissances uniques et complémentaires, et l’expertise pour le développement de TR et l’application (clinique). Importance de l’adhésion et avantages d’échelle. Les 3 centres sont, avec leurs partenaires du réseau de cliniques affiliées, complémentaires et ils couvrent un très grand territoire. Cela permet de tester les produits d’innovation rapidement, adéquatement et avec une groupe-cible, qui a une taille statistiquement pertinente. Les réseaux de cliniques offrent d’excellentes occasions pour obtenir des informations (qui seront régionalement différentes) des spécialistes expérimentés par la participation active des patients. Comparaison transfrontalière: Les innovations de TR sont testées et évalués en vertu du règlement de droit et pratiques de traitement allemand, flamand, wallon et néerlandais, auquel cas un comparaison Eurégionale et un échange d’éléments de succès et des meilleures pratiques en découleron.

Herausforderung: Aufgrund des demographischen Wandels gerät die Rehabilitation von Patienten zunehmend unter Druck. Qualität und Angebot an Rehabilitationsmöglichkeiten bleiben hinter dem Bedarf zurück. Der Einsatz von Rehabilitationstechnik (RT) bietet gute Möglichkeiten eine adäquate Rehabilitation zu ermöglichen und sicherzustellen. Jedoch finden viele Innovationen im Bereich RT derzeit keinen Eingang in die klinische Umsetzung und tragen daher nicht zur verbesserten Versorgung der Patienten bei, weil derzeit kein intensiver Wissensaustausch und Zusammenarbeit zwischen Entwicklern von RT in Forschungs-einrichtungen oder Betrieben und klinischen Anwendern wie Therapeuten oder Patienten besteht. Auch wird die Wirkung von RT auf den Patienten häufig nicht überprüft, wodurch RT mitunter falsch eingesetzt wird und Patienten Schaden nehmen können. Zielsetzung: i2-CoRT wird die Entwicklung und Implementierung von komplexer innovativer RT beschleunigen. Die Verfügbarkeit von innovativen RT-Produkten in der Patientenversorgung und die Prüfung von Qualität und Effektivität werden verbessert. Zwei eng zusammenhängende Maßnahmen werden vorangetrieben: Infrastrukturelle und prozedurale Maßnahmen (Implementierung von 3 klinischen Testzentren in der unmittelbaren Umgebung von Rehabilitationskliniken mit einem Netzwerk von zusammenarbeitenden Forschungseinrichtungen und Industriepartnern).. Inhaltlich konkrete, produktorientierte Maßnahmen (Modellprojekte, in denen Innovationsideen für RT vorangetrieben werden. Die Modellprojekte dienen der Überprüfung und Schärfung der unter a) implementierten Vorgehensweisen. Hierdurch entstehen innerhalb i2-CoRT Forschungsergebnisse und Dienstleistungsprodukte, die BEIDE zur Verbesserung von RT-Produkten und deren schnelleren Umsetzung führen. Hieraus ergeben sich auch neue Geschäftsmodelle. Schwerpunktaktivitäten: Entwicklung von 3 klinischen Testzentren. Bündelung der Euregionalen Aktivitäten zu einer gemeinsamen Wissenssachse „Rehabilitationstechnologie“, worin Experten aus Rehabilitationszentren, Forschungseinrichtungen und Industrie eng zusammenarbeiten und Erfahrungen austauschen.. Entwicklung und Evaluierung neuer RT-Produkte, die gemeinsam vermarktet und grenzüberschreitend implementiert werden. Erstellung eines Euregionalen Vergleiches (u.a. nach Inhalt, gesetzlichen Rahmenbedingungen und Marktunterschieden) und Austausch erfolgreicher Vorgehensweisen. Stimulierung der grenzüberschreitenden Aktivitäten auf dem Gebiet innovativer RT und (neuer) Dienstleistungen. (Projektmanagement und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit) Wichtigster Output: Grenzüberschreitender Inkubator für innovative RT mit 3 klinischen Testcentern (Arbeitspaket I1-I3 + WP T10+T11).. Erstellung von Standard Operation Procedures zur Nutzung von Testprozeduren & –methoden (WP T1). Einbindung neuer Betriebe mit innovativen RT-ideen (WP T2). Zertifizierung bereits entwickelter RT (WP T3). strukturierten, supraregionalen Implementierung von entwickelter RT (WP T4). Neue RT-Produkte aus den Modellprojekten (WP T5 - T9)Prototyp eines roboters zur Rehabilitation der oberen Extremität (WP T5). Tragbares Sensorsystem zur Beurteilung der Arm-/Hand-Bewegung (WP T6). Messinstrument zur Beurteilung der Rollstuhlsitzproblematik (WP T7). Übungsgerät zum Training bimanueller Fertigkeiten (WP T8). aktive Handorthese, die die Öffnung und Schließung der Finger aktiv unterstützt, sowie ein Orthesenkonzept, zum Training der Handmuskeln (WP T9). Implementierung und Vermarktung neuer Innovationen aus WP T5 - WP T9 (WP T10). Businessplan zum Betrieb der klinischen Testcentren und des i2-CoRT Netzwerkes (WP T11). Mehrwert der grenzüberschreitenden Zusammenarbeit: KomplementaritätAlle i2-CoRT Akteure bringen einzigartige und komplementäre Kenntnisse und Expertisen zur Entwicklung von RT und deren Anwendung ein. Patientenzugang. Beide Rehabilitationszentren verfügen über ein sehr großes Patientenkollektiv mit unterschiedlichen Krankheitsbildern. Hierdurch können RT-Produkte schnell und effektiv und mit einem relevanten Zielgruppenumfang geprüft werden. Dieses bietet auch hervorragende Möglichkeiten für regional unterschiedliche Beiträge von Erfahrungsexperten wie Therapeuten und Patienten. Grenzüberschreitende Vergleichbarkeit. Innovative RT wird unter flämischen, deutschen, wallonischen und niederländischen Behandlungsvorgehensweisen, Abrechnungsmodalitäten sowie gesetzlichen Rahmenbedingungen getestet, wodurch eine Verbesserung der euregionalen Vergleichbarkeit und Austausch erfolgreicher Vorgehensweisen entsteht.

3 most important results: Clinical test centres for rehabilitation technology (TC-RT): Three collaborating EUregional TC-RTs have been set up; Standard Operation Procedures for all TC-RT processes have been developed, including a web portal for companies to contact / interact with the i2-CoRT network. EUregional RT network: A cross-border RT knowledge network has been set up, aimed at attracting RT innovations, facilitating cooperation between EUregional partners and companies, combining complementary, trans-disciplinary expertise. Novel RT concepts: Five novel technology-assisted rehabilitation training and evaluation concepts have been developed. Supporting materials for raising awareness and provision of information: 1. i2-CoRT website for general public and a portal for companies, 2. i2-CoRT executive summary and flyer. Milestones: 28-05-2019: First ACTiCON (ACTive i2-CoRT Company & Organisation Network) member has formally signed a collaboration agreement with all i2-CoRT partners; more ACTiCON members follow. 02-12-2019: i2-CoRT portal for attracting companies goes live. 16-04-2021: Securing the continuation of the 3 test centres and i2-CoRT network, through business plans and embedding in clinics. 20-04-2021: Online closing symposium: presentations of i2-CoRT results regarding RT concepts; test centre demos; other RT-related activities from partners and collaborating companies; vision on future.

Les produits de TR conduiront à une amélioration des activités quotidiennes et de la participation des patients. Stimulation de la demande. i2CoRT élaborera des procédures pour l'acquisition d’idées/entreprises de TR innovantes. Voir ci-dessus : Mise en place de réseaux et d’innovation ouverte par la smart specialisation. i2-CoRT formera un Axe de connaissance de la Technologie de Revalidation dans lequel les parties prenantes seront réunies pour accélérer l’innovation et la mise en œuvre des TR. i2CoRT soutient la recherche technologique et appliquée, des études pilotes et la validation rapide du produit.

Therapiekonzept für (11). 13 Innovative Unterarmorthese, die die Fingeröffnung und Schließung aktiv unterstützt. 14. Therapiekonzept für (13). 15 Orthesenkonzept zum Training der intrinsischen Handmuskulatur. 16. Therapiekonzept für (15). 17 2 Aktionspläne zur Verstetigung der Euregional “Wissensachse Komplexe. Rehabilitationstechnologie” und der beiden Testzentren. Technologietransfer. 14 (SMEs) Unternehmen haben derzeit ihr Interesse bekundet, sich in i2-CoRT einzubringen und in 10 Trajektorien zusammenzuarbeiten. Zusätzlicher Technologietransfer findet zwischen den Unternehmen und den Rehabilitationscentren statt. Soziale Innovation. Patienten werden von den entwickelten RT Produkten profitieren, indem ihre Fähigkeiten durch diese nachhaltig verbessert werden. Förderung der Nachfrage. i2-CoRT wird innerhalb des Projektes Verfahren erarbeiten, auf deren Basis die Testzentren neue Kunden mit innovativen RT Ideen akquirieren können. Förderung von Smart Specialisation durch Errichtung eines Netzwerkes und Open-Innovation: i2-CoRT errichtet eine Euregionale Wissensachse Rehabilitationstechnologie in der alle Stakeholder zusammen gebracht werden, mit dem Ziel die Translation komplexer Rehabilitationstechnik zu beschleunigen. I2-CoRT fördert Technologieentwicklung und angewandte Forschung, Pilotstudien und Validierung.
