Project objective: The key objective of this project is to contribute to fill the gap between entrepreneurial intent and action among the young generation and to infuse early on in their projects an international dimension. Main activities: The project is built around three key actions that reinforces each other: 1° Bridging the gap for international entrepreneurial action. In most cases, students are strongly focused on their local area and lack the international mind-set. One dimension of this project aims at facilitating students’ and young graduates’ networking across partnering regions by organizing joint activities (i.e. contests, start-up week-ends...), providing access to lean start-up process or supporting teams developments. 2° Providing knowledge and pedagogical support for young entrepreneurs engaged in cross-border projects. More educational support is needed to promote a better understanding of entrepreneurial opportunities, with a cross-border perspective. Most existing support is not exploiting modern technologies that young generations favour to acquire knowledge (i.e. social media platforms, including videos, podcasts, streams, Twitter...). The intention is to develop and share knowledge content and support for young entrepreneurs in each region through a common platform. 3° Research and sharing best practices across partner institutions. As the creation of start-ups by students has been a rather recent trend (at least in Europe), it is important for researchers to keep abreast of the developments in this area and gain an in-depth understanding of this phenomenon. Further, each partner institution has developed its own action plan to promote entrepreneurship in its region but there has been little sharing of knowledge, experience and best practice. Therefore, we plan to organize joint research activities to share best practices and to build a critical mass of research relating to student entrepreneurship in particular. Expected results and main outputs: The ultimate objectives of the project are to: - Increase the number of start-ups created among the target population. - Favour the emergence of cross-national projects developed by the target population. - Fasten the internationalisation process of projects. - Build and strengthen an ecosystem that supports students’ entrepreneurship in the regions. - Improve existing methods, research and support system of students’ entrepreneurship. - Position the Euregio on the international map of student entrepreneurship. - Institutionalize cooperation between the partners with a long-term perspective. Ultimately, by providing students the grounds to successfully found their own firm with an international twist, this project aims at creating win-win outcomes for the society, private and public sector.

Kernzielsetzung des Projekts: Das Kernziel dieses Projekts ist es, dazu beitragen, die Kluft zwischen unternehmerischer Absicht und Handlung in der jungen Generation zu verringern und frühzeitig eine internationale Dimension in ihren Projekten zu verankern. Wichtigste Aktivitäten des Projekts: Das Projekt ist entlang von drei wichtigsten Aktivitäten, die sich gegenseitig verstärken, aufgebaut: 1° Eine Brücke für internationales unternehmerisches Handeln schlagen. In den meisten Fällen konzentrieren sich Studierende stark auf ihre lokale Umgebung und vernachlässigen eine internationale Denkweise. Eine Dimension dieses Projekts zielt darauf ab, das Networking von Studierenden und jungen Absolventen über die Partnerregionen hinweg durch gemeinsame Aktivitäten, Zugang zu Lean-Start-up-Prozessen oder die Unterstützung von Teamentwicklungen zu fördern. 2° Bereitstellung von Wissen und Unterstützung für junge Unternehmer, die in grenzüberschreitenden Projekten beteiligt sind. Es wird mehr wissensbasierte Unterstützung benötigt, um ein besseres Verständnis für unternehmerische Chancen, insbesondere mit einer grenzüberschreitenden Perspektive zu fördern. Auch werden bisher nur selten moderne Technologien, die die junge Generation jedoch bevorzugt nutzt, sinnvoll eingesetzt. Daher beabsichtigt dieses Projekt, Wissensinhalte und Unterstützungsmaßnahmen für junge Unternehmer in den Regionen zu entwickeln und über eine Plattform zu verbreiten. 3° Forschung und Austausch bewährter Praktiken in Partnerinstitutionen. Da die Gründung von studentischen Start-ups (zumindest im EU-Kontext) ein noch relativ junger Trend ist, ist es für Wissenschaftler entscheidend, das Phänomen im Detail zu verstehen. Darüber hinaus hat jeder Partner seinen eigenen Handlungsplan zur Förderung des Unternehmertums entwickelt, aber bisher hat wenig Austausch von Wissen, Erfahrungen und bewährten Praktiken stattgefunden. Daher planen wir gemeinsame Forschungsaktivitäten, um bewährte Praktiken auszutauschen und um eine kritische Masse an Forschung in Bezug auf studentisches Unternehmertum aufzubauen. Erwartete Ergebnisse und Leistungen des Projekts: Die letztlich wichtigsten Ziele des Projekts sind: - die Anzahl der Unternehmensgründungen in der Zielgruppe zu erhöhen, - neue länderübergreifende Projekte der Zielgruppe zu begünstigen, - den Internationalisierungsprozesses der Projekte zu beschleunigen, - ein Umfeld zu schaffen und zu stärken, das studentisches Entrepreneurship in den Regionen fördert, - bestehende Methoden und Unterstützungssysteme des studentischen Entrepreneurships zu verbessern, - die Euregio auf der internationalen Landkarte des studentischen Entrepreneurships zu positionieren, - die Kooperation zwischen den Partnern auf langfristiger Basis zu institutionalisieren.

Objectif du projet: L’objectif-clé de ce projet est de contribuer à combler l’écart entre l’intention et l’action entrepreneuriale parmi la nouvelle génération et d’intégrer rapidement une dimension internationale à leur projet. Activités principales: Le projet est construit autour de 3 actions-clés qui se renforcent entre elles : 1° Réduction de l’écart des actions entrepreneuriales à dimension internationale. Les étudiants restent focalisés sur leur région et manquent d’une vision vers l’international. Une des dimensions de ce projet est de faciliter l’interconnexion des réseaux des régions partenaires pour les étudiants et jeunes diplômés en organisant des activités communes, en leur procurant un accès au service « lean start-up » ou encore en encourageant le développement d’équipes. 2° Transmission de connaissances et de supports pour les jeunes entrepreneurs engagés dans des projets transfrontaliers. Un renforcement des supports éducatifs est nécessaire pour encourager une meilleure compréhension des opportunités entrepreneuriales avec une perspective transfrontalière. La plupart des supports existants n’exploitent pas les technologies modernes auxquelles les nouvelles générations sont habituées. L’intention est de développer et partager du contenu et du support pour les jeunes entrepreneurs dans chaque région grâce à une plateforme commune. 3°Recherche et partage de meilleures pratiques parmi les régions partenaires. Comme la création de start-ups par des étudiants est une nouvelle tendance (au moins en Europe), il est important pour les chercheurs de se tenir au courant des développements dans ce domaine et d’acquérir une compréhension en profondeur de ce phénomène. De plus, chaque partenaire a développé son propre plan d’action pour promouvoir l’entrepreneuriat dans sa région mais il y a peu de partage de ces connaissances, expériences et meilleures pratiques. Par conséquent, nous prévoyons d’organiser des activités de recherche communes pour partager les meilleures pratiques et construire une masse critique en matière de recherche sur l’entrepreneuriat estudiantin. Résultat attendus: Les objectifs finaux du projet sont de : Accroitre le nombre de start-ups. Favoriser projets transfrontaliers développés. Accélérer le processus d’internationalisation de projets. Construire et alimenter l’entrepreneuriat étudiant dans les régions. Améliorer les méthodes existantes, et le dispositif d’accompagnement à l’entrepreneuriat étudiant. Positionner l’Euregio comme un acteur important sur la carte internationale de l’entrepreneuriat étudiant. Institutionnaliser la coopération entre les partenaires avec une vision à long-termeFinalement, en procurant aux étudiants tous les éléments pour créer leur start-up à perspective internationale, ce projet vise à créer des solutions win-win pour la société, le secteur privé et public.

Achievements (EN):

Bridging the gap for international entrepreneurial action: Through various inspirational networking and coaching activities for Euregio students (43 events were organized by the 3 partners during these 3 years of the project). Through concrete support like specific “for change” coaching and grants to further their projects in 4 specific matters (16 projects from the 3 Region part of the project received grants to further their project). Through videos (more than 100 videos to provide educational support for student entrepreneurship and to promote a better understanding of entrepreneurial opportunities in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine. Through research (200 Euregio students answered a survey) and sharing best practices across partner institutions (12 categories of support were identified and 9 best practices were developed).

Expected Outputs (EN):

SEE-V-Lab project contributes to increase the number of new companies created. Indeed, by stimulating the target group through various events and by supporting new companies with appropriate tools, we are convinced to contribute to this indicator. More precisely, we will encourage network building between young entrepreneurs and students wishing to start-up a company thanks to the « inspire happy hours » events. During this event, they will have the chance to build a large network and to meet inspiring personalities. The Business Model and Business Plan events (contests) are addressed to the starters. The aim is to boost the creation of start-ups and develop their business ideas so that they will successfully enter the market. After these events, student entrepreneurs are guided by the coaches. Various tools are also developed in order to inspire young people, help them in their process and boost them (platforms, MOOC, Business cases…). All these actions together will participate in the development of hubs dedicated to support entrepreneurship. Indeed we are convinced that such measures are driving start-up creations since it help starters to tackle the obstacles to entrepreneurship activities.

Das Projekt SEE-V-Lab trägt zur Erhöhung der Anzahl neu gegründeter Unternehmen bei. Durch die Stimulierung der Zielgruppe mit verschiedenen Events und durch die Unterstützung neu gegründeter Unternehmen mit geeigneten Mitteln sind wir in der Tat davon überzeugt, zu diesem Indikator beizutragen (15 Einheit). Dies bedeutet im Detail, dass wir durch « inspire happy hours » das Entstehen von Netzwerken zwischen jungen Unternehmern und Studierenden mit Gründungsabsicht anregen werden. Bei diesen Events werden sie die Möglichkeit haben, ein großes Netzwerk aufzubauen und inspirierende Persönlichkeiten zu treffen. Die Business Model und Business Plan Veranstaltungen (Wettbewerbe) sprechen Gründer an. Es ist das Ziel, Neugründungen zu fördern und ihre Geschäftsideen zu entwickeln, damit sie erfolgreich in den Markt eintreten können. Nach diesen Veranstaltungen werden studentische Unternehmer durch Coaches angeleitet. Außerdem werden verschiedene Maßnahmen entwickelt, um junge Menschen zu inspirieren und ihnen in ihrem Prozess zu helfen und sie zu fördern (z.B. Plattformen, MOOC, Business Cases). All diese Aktivitäten werden gemeinsam zur Entwicklung von Unterstützungszentren in Bezug auf Entrepreneurship beitragen. Wir sind in der Tat davon überzeugt, dass solche Maßnahmen den Anteil neu gegründeter Unternehmen erhöhen, da sie helfen, typische Hindernisse im Gründungsbereich zu meistern.

Expected Outputs (FR):

Le projet SEE-V-Lab contribue à l’augmentation du nombre de nouvelles entreprises. En effet, en stimulant le public cible au travers de différents évènements et en accompagnant les nouvelles entreprises avec des outils adaptés, nous sommes convaincus de contribuer à cet indicateur (soit 15 unités). Plus précisément, nous allons encourager la rencontre entre des jeunes entrepreneurs et étudiants ayant envie d’entreprendre lors de « Inspire Happy Hours ». Durant cet évènement, ils auront l’occasion de se créer un large réseau et de rencontrer des personnalités inspirantes. Les évènements de Business Model et Business Plan (compétitions) sont destinés aux porteurs de projets. L’idée est de booster la création de leur entreprise et de faire évoluer leur idée pour qu’elle s’adapte aux mieux au marché et qu’elle rencontre du succès. Suite à ces évènements, les étudiants entrepreneurs sont accompagnés par les coachs. Divers outils sont également mis en place avec pour objectif d’inspirer les jeunes, de les aider dans leurs démarches et de les booster à entreprendre (plateforme, MOOC, business cases,…). L’ensemble de ces actions va contribuer au développement de pôles d’accompagnement entrepreneurial. Nous sommes en effet convaincus que de tels dispositifs de soutien sont moteurs de créations de start-ups puisqu’ils aident les porteurs de projet à lever les freins à entreprendre.
