The Ardennes represent an exceptional opportunity as it is a relevant territory, with a rich identity and a name with a strong reputation, especially in northern Europe. It is ideally located near the major European conurbations (66 million inhabitants within 3 hours by car), and the heart of its identity corresponds to the major expectations of the European urban tourist customers. The Ardennes boasts significant assets for tomorrow, as well as rich human, natural and architectural potential synonymous with attractive tourism offers. Finally, there is a common sense of belonging, a tradition of hospitality typical of the Ardennes and a broad range of expertise. All these strengths are at hand to create affinity, creative, relationship and experience tourism offers, in line with the expectations of customers. In this context, the Ardennes Marketing project implements an ambitious, multi-channel tourism marketing strategy, based on innovative methods inspired by new and approved territorial marketing approaches, such as in Alsace, for example.

Read more Achievements (EN): Ardenne MARKETING is one of five projects in the “ARDENNE attractivity” project portfolio submitted by the EEIG Destination Ardenne. For five years, while building on the work carried out in the ARDENNE ECOTOURISM and ARDENNE AMBASSADORS projects, ARDENNE MARKETING implemented a very large number of marketing development, structuring, promotion and marketing activities of cross-border tourism, assuming that it was for the territory of Ardennes to put itself into communication. The French Ardennes Tourism Development Agency, the Provincial Tourism Federations of Namur and Luxembourg, IDELUX Public Projects, natural parks, forest massifs, tourism houses, initiative unions and tourism offices in Belgium and France were mobilised. => five objectives •Please cross-border tourist destination in a comprehensive marketing approach; •Strengthen the attractiveness of the tourism sector in Ardennes through the mobilisation of residents and tourism professionals while integrating the best in terms of sustainable tourism; •Mutualising financial resources; •Improve cross-border destination under “a common denominator” meaning; • Involve tourism, cultural and economic partners, institutional and private, in an approach of brand ownership, then booster relay for communication. Ardenne Marketing has therefore set out to develop for the cross-border Ardennes a vast ecosystem of quadrilingual communication, in a rigorous marketing and commercial approach. A unifying and collaborative approach, shared around the Ardenne brand and its values. But also more citizen, more cooperative, experiential, human, affinitarian and sustainable. But also, more viral because more focused on the web and social networks. => three major projects -Development of a territorial mix marketing plan It specifies the necessary interactions with the cultural and economic sectors, including agri-food, all strongly connected to the tourism sector, to promote tourism communication and the positioning of the destination on the web to target audiences. In connection with the Greater East Region Destination Pact, financial resources were made available and were able to feed the two 360° communication campaigns of the 2020 and 2021 seasons, up to EUR 120,000 in 2020 and EUR 25 000 in 2021. —Development of a policy of thematic offers segmented, irresistible, human, experiential, viral and affinitarian It is based on the marketing study carried out in 2018 by the INTERREG 5 Digital Tourism Marketing project for the Greater Region, with about 4000 inhabitants of the catchment area of the destination Ardennes. The confirmed target: the Explorers, Shortbreakers and Natureloving are active within a radius of 300 km around the Ardennes. Beyond the many offers that the ARDENNE ECOTOURISM project was able to generate, others came to be added thanks to the extensive Roadshow organised in 2019 through the Ardennes, i.e. 14 workshops, 20 workshops and 10 major traditional themes or aimed at the conquest of new customers. In partnership with ARDENNE AMBASSADORS, ARDENNE ECOTOURISM, the Ardennes Forests but also with the INTERREG 5 AGRETA and TENDANCES projects, it has enabled the support of a few hundred members of the Ardennes brand in the construction of tourist offers from the point of view of the unforgettable experience. In terms of tourist routes, continuity has been achieved with the INTERREG 4 ARDENNE TOURISM GPS project. The aim was to recover existing roads but also to design new cross-border tourist routes, in motorhomes, without a train station or mountain bike. Two cycle routes from the ARDENNE CYCLO project have been put into tourism: “Between Lesse and Semois” and “Centre Ardenne” around EuroVélo routes n°5 and n°19. Finally, four marketing structures were mobilised to optimise the marketing of group tourism offers but also cross-border bicycle and foot roaming. —Development of a communication strategy that crosses customers, innovation and web Far from a simple top-down communication on the territory, it is the Ardennes that has planned itself by putting the web at the heart of its media mix. •Creation and animation of a media committee of the Ardennes •Structuration and writing in 4 languages of more than a hundred experiences in Ardennes via the club of Ardennes bloggers and via committed translators-writers. •Online and animation of the destination website www.visitardenne.com in 4 languages. •Writing, translation and encoding of various content in the CMS of the destination website www.visitardenne.com. • Study on the web position of the Ardennes destination and its components (French Ardennes, Eislek and Belgian provinces) accompanied by a web indicator monitoring process (KPI). •Valorisation of ecotourism offers built by the ARDENNE ECOTOURSIM project. • Development of a list of articles to be written for the website by the 34 future graduates of the E-tourism training led in partnership by ARDENNE AMBASSADORS. •From November 2019 to January 2021, launch and shared management with the Brussels HEADERPOP agency of a first 360° communication campaign for 2020 (EUR 240.000), on the destination’s priority markets in partnership with the Grand Est Region. •In March 2020, adaptation of the communication campaign “Going far, close” to the real conditions of travel in Europe linked to the COVID-19 crisis (containing and closing borders) and changing the concept to “Dream far near”. •From February to October 2021, launch and shared management with the HEADERPOP agency of a second 360° communication campaign for 2021 (EUR 72,000) on the destination’s priority markets. Partnership with the Grand Est Region for the Influencer Travel Part in July 2021 (EUR 48.000). •Between March and June 2021, crisis management of the consequences in terms of visibility, of the double fire of the OVH servers hosting the website of the destination. And implementation of a strategy to recover lost traffic by new content and by a lot of work on SEO tags on all pages. It should be noted that other actions have complemented this web-centered media package, including: •Printing of 40,000 tourist maps of the cross-border Ardennes. •Creation of a collection of 200,000 tourist maps including on the front the map of the cross-border Ardennes and on the back of the map of the region concerned (French Ardennes, provinces of Liège, Namur and Luxembourg). • Insertion of a cross-border brewing circuit developed by Ardenne All Access in INTERREGIV, on the media “The Belgian Beeroute”. •Insert a cross-border bike route for the Dutch-speaking public in the magazine “Routes.nl” and its communication channels. •Edition of a general quadrilingual seduction brochure drawn at approximately 150,000 copies and distributed via the network of members of the Ardennes brand and via the BHS network mainly in Flanders and the Netherlands. • Support, as an extension of the Routard guide, for the edition of the cross-border tourist guides TROTTER, ANWB and TAO. •Design and printing of maps highlighting the two cross-border routes of the ARDENNE CYCLO project. •Activating press and media relations (club and catalog of Ardennes bloggers, blogtrips, press kits and trips, etc.). •Participation in some fairs and fairs in France, Belgium and the Netherlands. => the project in 10 key points, sources of very high economic benefits for transarden tourism 1.Several hundred web pages created in French, Dutch, English and German value hundreds of tourist offers built or not by the project. 2.Progress of traffic in % compared to the objectives: France + 276 %, Belgium + 906 %, Netherlands + 740 %, Germany + 939 %, Luxembourg + 683 %. 3.Sessions on the destination website: 160.567 end 2019 2.075.023 end 2021.
