Scandinavian Mountains. En internationell och hållbar destination med attraktiv besöksnäring i SITE. De fyra gränskommunerna Malung-Sälen, Älvdalen, Trysil och Engerdal har en politisk och affärsmässig överenskommelse om att utveckla en internationell turistregion, en ”världsdestination”, tvärs över landsgränsen. Målbild 2018: Skandinavien Mountains aktörer arbetar tillsammans som en internationell och hållbar destination med attraktiv besöksnäring.

The Scandinavian Mountains. An international and sustainable destination with attractive hospitality industry in SITE. The four border municipalities Malung-Sälen, Älvdalen, Trysil and Engerdal have a political and business agreement to develop an international tourist region, a “world destination”, across the country. Target image 2018: Scandinavia Mountain’s actors work together as an international and sustainable destination with an attractive tourism industry.

Sälen, Idre, Trysil och Engerdal utgör den så kallade SITE-regionen i gränsområdet i Inre Skandinavien. Besöksnäringen är högt prioriterad i SITE och i Interregprojektet ”Scandinavian Mountains” som pågått 2015-2018 har de fyra kommunerna vidarefört arbetet med att utveckla regionen till en internationell och hållbar turistdestination. Under 2018 nådde projektet målsättningen om att certifiera hela SITE som ”bærekraftig reisemål”. Sälen och Idre blev då de första svenska destinationerna att kvalificera sig för den norska kvalitetsmärkningen, med stöd från SITE-projektet och Innovasjon Norge. Märkningen bygger på en internationell standard (GSTC-D) som sätter tydliga krav på destinationers förmåga när det gäller hållbar utveckling utifrån natur, kultur, miljö, sociala värden och ekonomisk hållbarhet. Trysil kvalificerade sig för märket 2013 och blev ommärkt 2016, och Engerdal tilldelades certifieringen 2017. Hållbarhetsarbetet i SITE har gett en ny dimension i resemålsutvecklingen i ett långsiktigt perspektiv och bidrar till att medvetandegöra både kommunerna och besöksnäringen. SITE-projektet har även arbetat med produktutveckling och internationalisering och man har hämtat nya erfarenheter och kunskaper samt etablerat samarbeten inom regionen och utåt mot internationella samarbetspartners. Bl.a. har ett guidenätverk etablerats och man har lanserat broschyren”Guidede opplevelser i to land” med 15 olika utvalda guidade turer i SITE, varav flera av produkterna utvecklades genom nätverket. Projektet har också stöttat etableringen av åtta nya verksamheter inom naturbaserad guidning. Genom erfarenhetsutbyte i guidenätverket och med stöd av SITE:s internationaliseringsmodell har dessa företag kunnat gå raskt framåt i sin utveckling. De har även fått möjlighet att testa sina produkter i internationellt säljarbete genom visningsturer med turoperatörer och har redan haft internationella gäster i två år. Achievements (EN):

Sälen, Idre, Trysil and Engerdal form the so-called SITE region in the border area of Inner Scandinavia. The tourism industry is a high priority in SITE and in the Interreg project “Scandinavian Mountains”, which took place in 2015-2018, the four municipalities have continued their efforts to develop the region into an international and sustainable tourist destination. In 2018, the project reached the goal of certifying the whole SITE as a “bære vigorous reise goal”. Sälen and Idre became the first Swedish destinations to qualify for the Norwegian quality label, with support from the SITE project and Innovasjon Norge. The label is based on an international standard (GSTC-D) that sets clear requirements on the capacity of destinations in terms of sustainable development based on nature, culture, environment, social values and economic sustainability. Trysil qualified for the brand in 2013 and was rebranded in 2016, and Engerdal was awarded the certification in 2017. The sustainability work in SITE has given a new dimension to the development of travel goals in a long-term perspective and contributes to raising awareness both the municipalities and the hospitality industry. The site project has also worked with product development and internationalisation and has gained new experience and knowledge as well as established collaborations within the region and externally towards international partners. Among other things, a guide network has been established and the brochure “guided opplevelser i to land” has been launched with 15 selected guided tours in SITE, several of which were developed through the network. The project has also supported the establishment of eight new activities within nature-based guidance. Through the exchange of experience in the guide network and with the support of SITE’s internationalisation model, these companies have been able to move rapidly forward in their development. They have also been given the opportunity to test their products in international sales work through tour tours with tour operators and have already had international guests for two years.
