Material on the Sami cultural heritage is available in several archives and collections, and for historical reasons, material has also been stored in museums and collections in Europe. During this century, interest in research on indigenous cultures has increased especially in the Arctic regions. Therefore, it is important to develop an efficient and easy-to-use digital solution, which easily enables real-time access to the digital data and materials of the various archives and document collections belonging to the Sami cultural heritage. The material of the Sami cultural heritage has a special task in revitalising the Sami language and culture. Therefore, the digital and oral documents and other archival materials are crucial for research and resuscitation of the Sami culture. Access to the Sami archives is also important for the Sami people, the Sami private sector and culturally interested non-Sámi users. The main objective of the project is to improve the accessibility of Sámi cultural heritage. 1. Improve the accessibility of the Sami cultural and historical heritage by restoring the knowledge of the Sami cultural heritage, so that it can be used by the Sami people and other users. 2. Improve the accessibility of Sámi cultural heritage by developing new technological applications. 3. Create common ethical guidelines for the use of the Sami cultural heritage. These objectives are realised through the following measures: 1. We map the Sami collections of documents in European archives. 2. Development of IT application and user interface that enables access to digital archive material aimed at the Sami culture. 3. The user interface of the application is designed and realised so that in the future it can be easily and cost-effectively translated and put into use in various Sami and other languages 4. The service is piloted both among Sami and non-samer 5. Create common ethical guidelines for the use of the Sami cultural heritage. The project creates an information and communication technology application package according to the principle of a single instance for the already existing digital collections of Sámi-speaking culture and cultural heritage. The system links the user to various available collections in a way that facilitates information searches and requests, supports information retrieval using metadata, and helps the user access digital material from different locations and databases. The developed whole functions as a search register and search tool, with which you can reach the digital content. The metadata of the collected data is taken from the metadata of the existing collections using several computer-supported methods. The application package is designed for a broad user group with a special focus on ease of use. Potential users of the application, in addition to those who already use the archive databases, are members of Sami federations both inside and outside the Sami area, researchers and individuals in different countries.

Material om det samiska kulturarvet finns i flera arkiv och samlingar, och på grund av historiska skäl har material förvarats i museer och samlingar även i Europa. Under detta århundrade har intresset för forskning om ursprungskulturer ökat särskilt i de arktiska områdena. Därför är det viktigt, att utveckla en effektiv och lätthanterlig digital lösning, som enkelt möjliggör realtidstillgång till de olika arkivens och dokumentsamlingars digitala data och material som tillhör det samiska kulturarvet. Det samiska kulturarvets material har en speciell uppgift i att uppliva det samiska språket och kulturen. Därför är de digitala och muntliga dokumenten och andra arkivmaterial avgörande för forskning och återupplivning av den samiska kulturen. Åtkomsten till de samiska arkiven är viktig även för det samiska folket, samiska privata sektorn och kulturintresserade icke-samiska användare. Projektets huvudsyfte är att förbättra det samiska kulturarvets åtkomlighet. 1. Förbättra det samiska kulturhistoriska och historiska arvets åtkomlighet genom att återbörda vetskapen om det samiska kulturarvet, så att det kan användas av samiska folket och andra användare. 2. Förbättra det samiska kulturarvets åtkomlighet genom att utveckla nya tekniska applikationer. 3. Skapa gemensamma etiska riktlinjer för att använda det samiska kulturarvet. Dessa syften realiseras genom följande åtgärder: 1. Vi kartlägger de samiska dokumentsamlingar som finns i europeiska arkiv. 2. Utveckling av IT-applikation och användargränssnitt som möjliggör åtkomst till digitala arkivmaterial riktade mot den samiska kulturen. 3. Applikationens användargränssnitt designas och förverkligas så att den i framtiden enkelt och kostnadseffektivt kan översättas och tas i bruk på olika samiska och andra språk 4. Tjänsten piloteras både bland samer och icke-samer 5. Skapa gemensamma etiska riktlinjer för att använda det samiska kulturarvet. I projektet skapas en informations- och kommunikationsteknisk applikationshelhet enligt principen om en enda instans för den samiskspråkiga kulturens och kulturarvets redan befintliga digitala samlingar. Systemet länkar användaren till olika tillgängliga samlingar på ett sätt som underlättar informationssökningar och -begäran, stöder informationssökning med hjälp av metadata och hjälper användaren att komma åt digitalt material från olika platser och databaser. Den utvecklade helheten fungerar som ett sökregister och sökverktyg, med vars hjälp man når det digitala innehållet. De insamlade uppgifternas metadata hämtas från de befintliga samlingarnas metadata med hjälp av flera datorunderstödda metoder. Applikationshelheten designas för en bred användargrupp med särskild fokus på användarvänlighet. Potentiella användare av applikationen, utöver de som redan idag använder arkivdatabaserna, är medlemmar i samiska förbund både i och utanför det samiska området, forskare och privatpersoner i olika länder.
