Projektet är ett treårigt samarbetsprojekt lett av Samearkivet i Finland, i samarbete med Samisk høgskole i Norge och Ájtte museum i Sverige. Projektets övergripande mål är att genom duodji stärka och levandegöra regionens kultur och kulturarv och stärka entreprenörskompetensen bland duojdi-studenter på Samisk høgskole. Med duodji avses inom projektet samiskt hantverk, konst och design. Med enskilda duojár menas samiska slöjdare, konstnärer och designer. Genom projektet stärks också samarbetet mellan arkiv, museum och högskola i Sápmi som var och en är viktiga institutioner för stärkandet och utvecklingen av kultuarv och näringar.Inom ramen för projektet skall Samearkivet och Ájtte museum bedriva en aktiv insamling och flera duojár arkiv skall bildas. Duojár arkiv är en ny typ av enskilda arkiv vid institutionerna och finns i dagsläget inte för duojár. I arkiven är fokus inte ligger på det slöjdade föremålet utan på de arkivalier som speglar skapande- och marknadsföringsprocessen och som vanligtvis inte tas in i arkiv. Projektet har tre delvisioner: 1) Lyfta värdet av duodji som kultuarv genom att öka kännedomen om duodji, samisk formgivning, duojár-yrket och samisk duodji-filosofi, 2) Skapa arbetsmarknad och produktmöjligheter för blivande duojár, och 3) Öka kännedom om samiska språk och terminologi inom duodji. De etablerade arkiven och materialet kommer att ingå i Samisk høgskole högskolekurser i Duodji. Kursens innehåll fokuseras på digitalisering av duodjiprocesser, marknadsföring och profilering av duojár. Arkiv och museum och duojár-arkiven används som en plattform för lärande för att skapa ny design baserad på kulturarv. Genom digitala teknik och hjälpmedel presentera nya produkter via en personlig historia.Mellan fem och tio enskilda duojár-arkiv kommer att etableras vid museum och arkiv i Sverige och Finland. Arkiven görs digitalt sökbara i de svenska och finska arkivsystem som redan är etablerade, och blir tillgängliggjorda för projektets målgrupper. Museum och arkiv tar därigenom ansvar för att förvalta en viktig del av det samiska kulturarvet för kommande generationer som hittills inte tillvaratagits. En fördjupad relation med enskilda duojár kommer också att ha etablerats under projektet som ett bestående resultat. Inom ramen för projektet kommer även ett digitalt utbildningsmaterial att skapas utifrån det insamlade arkivmaterialet. Målet är att därigenom nå ut med information om duodji och duojár till unga och barn, för att säkra en överföring av kunskaper till nästa generationer. Olika former av publika arrangemang kommer att uppmärksamma duojár-arkiven och tillsammans med samarbetspartner kommer både workshop och universitetskurser att hållas utifrån arkivens material.De enskilda arkiven kommer även att ha kommit till bruk i universitetskurser vid Sámi allaskuvla/Samisk høgskole. Studenterna använder sig av materialet i arkiven som inspiration för deras egna kreativa arbete. Genom arkiven utvecklar de verktyg för att profilera sitt framtida entreprenörskap inom duodji. Det finns målsättningar om att 10-20 studenter kan genomföra kursen under perioden 2017- 2019. I samband med projektet planeras två workshop med 10-15 deltagare per workshop (en i Finland och en i Sverige), där barn och ungdomar ska få möjligheten att lära känna duodjins filosofi på ett nytt sätt, vilket de också får använda i eget skapande. Det förväntas att samiska ungdomar blir medvetna om värdet av sitt kulturarv, och utvecklar en färdighet i bruk av samiska specialtermer. Ungdomar kan härigenom få en större förståelse för vad samiska värden och kulturuttryck är, och hur dessa kan vidareutvecklas i det 20:e århundradet.

Description (EN):

The project is a three-year collaborative project led by Samearkivet in Finland, in collaboration with Samisk høgskole in Norway and Ájtte museum in Sweden. The overall goal of the project is to strengthen and bring to life the region’s culture and cultural heritage through duodji and strengthen entrepreneurial skills among duojdi students at Samisk høgskole. Duodji refers to Sami handicraft, art and design. Individual duojár means Sami handicrafts, artists and designers. The project also strengthens cooperation between archives, museums and universities in Sápmi, each of which are important institutions for the strengthening and development of cultural heritage and industries.In the framework of the project, the Samearkivet and Ájtte museum will carry out an active collection and several duojár archives will be created. Duojár archives are a new type of individual archive at the institutions and are currently not available for duojár. In the archives, the focus is not on the handicrafted object, but on the archives that reflect the creation and marketing process and which are not usually taken into archives. The project has three parts: 1) Lift the value of duodji as a cult heritage by increasing awareness of duodji, Sami design, duojár profession and Sami duodji philosophy, 2) Create labour market and product opportunities for aspiring duojár, and 3) Increase knowledge of Sami language and terminology in duodji. The established archives and materials will be included in the Samisk høgskole higher education courses in Duodji. The course content focuses on digitisation of duodji processes, marketing and profiling of duojár. Archives and museums and duojár archives are used as a learning platform to create new designs based on cultural heritage. Through digital technologies and assistive devices, present new products via a personal history.Between five and ten individual duojár archives will be established at museums and archives in Sweden and Finland. The archives are made digitally searchable in the Swedish and Finnish archival systems that are already established, and are made available to the project’s target groups. Museums and archives take responsibility for managing an important part of the Sami cultural heritage for future generations that have not yet been exploited. An in-depth relationship with individual duojár will also have been established during the project as a lasting result. Within the framework of the project, a digital educational material will also be created based on the collected archive material. The goal is thus to reach out with information about duodji and duojár to young people and children, in order to ensure a transfer of knowledge to the next generations. Various forms of public events will pay attention to the duojár archives and together with partners, both workshops and university courses will be held based on the archive material.The individual archives will also be used in university courses at Sámi allaskuvla/Samisk høgskole. Students use the material in the archives as inspiration for their own creative work. Through the archives, they develop tools to profile their future entrepreneurship in duodji. There are goals that 10-20 students can complete the course during the period 2017- 2019. In connection with the project, two workshops are planned with 10-15 participants per workshop (one in Finland and one in Sweden), where children and young people will have the opportunity to get to know the philosophy of duodjin in a new way, which they can also use in their own creation. It is expected that Sami youth will become aware of the value of their cultural heritage, and develop a skill in the use of Sámi special terms. Young people can thus gain a greater understanding of what Sami values and cultural expressions are, and how these can be further developed in the 20th century.

Mål: Projektets övergripande mål var att genom duodji stärka och levandegöra regionens kultur och kulturarv och stärka entreprenörskompetensen bland duodji-studenter på Samisk Allavskuvla. Resultat: Projektet mottog 21 arkivdonationer under projekttiden. Från dessa donationer har utbildningsmaterial som lyfter fram tankar bakom duodji producerats. Materialet är tänkt att användas i skolor när samisk kultur lärs ut. Arkivmaterialet från finska sidan har också digitaliserats och hittas nu i nationella finska arkivet. Sámi Allaskuvla arrangerade utbildning i duodji med fokus att hjälpa studenter att höja sin kompetens i entreprenörskap och ska ett extra mervärde i sina verk genom storytelling (berättelser bakom duodji) som en del av deras arbetsprocesser och slutliga produkter. Projektet arrangerade även workshoppar för studenter I skolor i Inari och Jokkmokk. Under dessa workshoppar kunde studenterna använda samiska språken och lära sig om duodji och projektet. Workshopparna var tillfällen att testa en del av utbildningsmaterialet som producerats. Projektet öppnade nya möjligheter för de deltagande institutionerna för gränsöverskridande samarbete. Samarbetet gick också över disciplingränser - partners är ett museum, ett arkiv och ett universitet för tillämpad vetenskap. Projektets gränsöverskridande natur hjälpte också alla institutioner att få bättre kunskaper om kulturella olikheter inom Sápmi, om varandras arbetskulturer, förordningar, kunskap och best practise. Achievements (EN):

Objective: The overall goal of the project was to strengthen and bring to life the region’s culture and cultural heritage through duodji and strengthen entrepreneurial skills among duodji students at Samisk Allavskuvla. Results: The project received 21 archive donations during the project period. From these donations, educational materials that highlight the thoughts behind duodji have been produced. The material is intended to be used in schools when Sami culture is taught. The archive material from the Finnish page has also been digitised and is now available in the national Finnish archives. Sámi Allaskuvla arranged training in duodji with a focus on helping students raise their skills in entrepreneurship and will add added value to their works through storytelling (story behind duodji) as part of their work processes and final products. The project also organised workshops for students in schools in Inari and Jokkmokk. During these workshops, students were able to use the Sami languages and learn about duodji and the project. The workshops were opportunities to test some of the training material produced. The project opened up new opportunities for the participating institutions for cross-border cooperation. The collaboration also crossed disciplinary boundaries — partners are a museum, an archive and a university of applied sciences. The cross-border nature of the project also helped all institutions to gain a better understanding of cultural differences within Sápmi, about each other’s working cultures, regulations, knowledge and best practice.
