På tvers av grensen finnes felles utfordringer relatert til snø, blant annet i form av å kunne opprettholde lønnsomhet og konkurransekraft for vintersportdestinasjoner og arrangement i et klima i endring. Syftet med projektet är ökad affärs- och samhällsnytta genom att driva kunskapsutvecklingen kring snö framåt, samt genom att kraftsamla och utveckla det gränsregionala innovationssystemet för snö.

On two of the branches there are felles supply related to snø, blant annet in the form of å kunne opprettholde lønnsomhet og competitive power for wintersportsdestinasjoner og arrangement in a clima in endring. The aim of the project is to increase the business and societal benefits by driving the knowledge about snow forward, as well as by consolidating and developing the border regional innovation system for snow.

Achievements (NO):

Prosjektet Snörik har jobbet tett med de største aktørene i regionen Trøndelag og Jämtland/Härjedalen som er avhengig av snø for sin virksomhet. Vi har gjennom prosjektet kartlagt kostnadene og avsmeltingen rundt de fleste snølager i Sverige og Norge. Dette har ledet til utviklingen av en økonomisk modell som kan brukes til å optimalisere prosessen og planlegge en mer bærekraftig snøhåndtering. Sammen med Geosynthia har vi testet og utviklet en geotekstil som skal brukes til dekking av snølager gjennom sommeren. Den har vist seg å være mer isolerende en tidligere produkter, men er fortsatt ikke like effektiv som bruk av for eksempel sagflis. Men på områder der ikke sagflis kan brukes vil den nye geotekstilen være et godt alternativ. Prosjektet har utviklet, testet og dokumentert effekten et snøgjerder i samarbeid med Vålådalen. Dette har ledet til en veileder for bruk av gjerder for fangst av snø. Dette ble gjort da flere anlegg i regionen har testet snøgjerder, men ingen hadde kunnskap om det beste designet. Prosjektet har også gjennomført to større konferanser kalt ”Snow on Tour” med internasjonal deltagelse. Tema som snølagring, snøproduksjon, flour-fri ski smørning og lignende ble tatt opp. Her fikk prosjektet presentert mye av det vi hadde jobbet med, samt knytte tettere kontakt med andre aktører i bransjen. Vi har også gjennom prosjektet deltatt på en rekke seminarer med fagstoff. Med flere og flere ski anlegg som investerer i snøprouksjons utstyr ser vi et økende behov for mer kunnskap for både anleggseiere og driftere. Spesielt rundt snølagring er kunnskapen begrenset, og vi tror veilederen vi har gitt ut vil hjelpe mange fremover. Inom projektet har vi också arbetat med att stärka det regionala innovationssytemet runt snö. Bland annat har vi ökat det akademiska samarbetet mellan Mittuniversitetet (MIUN), Norges naturvetenskapliga och tekniska universitet (NTNU), Luleå tekniska universitet (LTU) och Peak Region/Peak (Peak). Detta har resulterat i utvecklingsaktiviteter mellan de olika aktörerna. Dessutom har vi startat upp ett nordiskt nätverk för snöforskning och involverat fler universitet som är intresserade och jobbar med snöfrågor. Vi har även identifierat testbäddar och stärkt framför allt Mid Sweden 365 i deras arbete med att erbjuda testmiljöer för både akademiska- och näringslivsaktörer. Genom projektet har vi genom god kommunikation lyckats synliggöra denna region och deras aktörer som internationellt framstående när det gäller snöexpertis och det har resulterat i flera tunga uppdrag efter projektets slut.

Achievements (EN):

The Snörik project has worked closely with the largest players in the region of Trøndelag and Jämtland/Härjedalen, who depend on snow for their activities. Through the project, we have mapped the costs and meltdowns around most snow storage in Sweden and Norway. This has led to the development of an economic model that can be used to optimise the process and plan for a more sustainable snow management. Together with Geosynthia, we have tested and developed a geotextile that will be used to cover snow storage throughout the summer. It has proven to be more insulating than previous products, but is still not as effective as the use of, for example, sawdust. But on areas where sawdust can't be used, the new geotextile will be a good option. The project has developed, tested and documented the effect of a snow fence in collaboration with Vålådalen. This has led to a guide for using fences for catching snow. This was done when several facilities in the region have tested snow fences, but no one had knowledge of the best design. The project has also conducted two major conferences called “Snow on Tour” with international participation. Topics such as snow storage, snow production, flour-free ski lubrication and the like were addressed. Here, the project presented much of what we had worked on, as well as closer contact with other players in the industry. Through the project we have also participated in a number of seminars with subject matter. With more and more ski facilities investing in snow-prouction equipment, we see an increasing need for more knowledge for both plant owners and operators. Especially around snow storage, knowledge is limited, and we believe the guide we have released will help many in the future. Within the project, we have also worked to strengthen the regional innovation system around snow. Among other things, we have increased the academic collaboration between Mittuniversitetet (MIUN), the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Luleå University of Technology (LTU) and Peak Region/Peak (Peak). This has resulted in development activities between the various actors. In addition, we have started a Nordic network for snow research and involved more universities that are interested and working on snow issues. We have also identified testbeds and especially strengthened Mid Sweden 365 in their work to offer test environments for both academic and business players. Through the project, through good communication, we have succeeded in making this region and their players visible as internationally prominent in terms of snow expertise, and this has resulted in several heavy assignments after the end of the project.
