Der kontinuierliche Anstieg der Lebenserwartung in der Grenzregion und der gleichzeitige Anstieg an altersbedingten Krankheiten, stellen sozio-ökonomische Herausforderungen dar. Die Hauptziele des vorliegenden Projektes sind in der AT-SK Grenzregion: a.) Die Lebensqualität im Alter durch optimierte Ernährungsgewohnheiten zu verbessern, da Nährstoffdefizite im Alter stark zu altersbedingten Erkrankungen beitragen b.) Die Zahl an Neuerkrankungen von altersbedingten Erkrankungen wie Herz-Kreislauferkrankungen, Rheuma, Diabetes oder Demenz-Erkrankungen (z.B. Alzheimer, Parkinson) zu reduzieren c.) Altersbedingte Gesundheitskosten zu reduzieren durch eine Stärkung des Ernährungs- und Gesundheitsbewußtsein auf breiter Ebene im Bereich der Senioren, deren Betreuung aber auch bei den „Senioren von Morgen“ Das wird realisiert durch: a.) Einen Forschungsteil, wo vor allem mit Alter stark diskutierte Risikonährstoffe wie Vitamin D, Protein und Omega-3 Fettsäuren untersucht werden b.) Die Etablierung spezifischer „Biomarker“ für gesundes Altern c.) Einen großen Ausbildungs und Disseminationsteil wo Senioren von heute und morgen und Personen in Gesundheitsberufen und der Altenbetreuung über den Zusammenhang von Ernährung und gesundem Altern geschult werden Die Forschung wird regionenübergreifend in vitro (um Mechanismen im Alterungsprozess zu verstehen), in Experimentalmodellen (Mechanismen auf Organebene) und auf Humanebene (Interventionsstudie mit Senioren und „Senioren von morgen“) durchgeführt.

Description (SK):

Projekt má za ciele: a) zlepšiť kvalitu života zvýšením povedomia o potrebe zdravej výživy, ktorá prispeje k prevencii "nezdravého" starnutia, b) znížiť výskyt chorôb súvisiacich s vekom v cezhraničnom regióne, ako sú kardiovaskulárne ochorenia, reumatoidná artritída, diabetes mellitus a duševné poruchy (depresívna porucha, Alzheimerova a Parkinsonova choroba) a znížiť so starnutím súvisiace náklady na zdravotnú starostlivosť, a to zlepšením výživy a povedomia o zdraví v širokom okruhu seniorov dneška aj zajtrajška, ako aj zdravotníkom a ošetrovateľom v cezhraničnej oblasti AT-SK. So snahou naplniť tieto ciele budeme: a) vo výskumnej časti skúmať vplyv vybraných rizikových nutrientov (vitamínu D, omega-3 mastné kyseliny a bielkoviny) na zdravie seniorov, b) identifikovať markery "zdravého" fyzického a psychického starnutia, a c) v časti vzdelávanie a šírenie poznatkov školiť seniorov dneška aj zajtrajška, ako aj zdravotníkov a ošetrovateľov o úlohe výživy v zdravom starnutí. Výskum sa zameria na sledovanie účinku nutrientov/živín na proces starnutia dobrovoľníkov dvoch vekových kategórií, pričom v experimentálnych modeloch budeme ďalej študovať tieto mechanizmy na úrovni orgánov a na bunkových kultúrach budeme stanovovať presné patomechanizmy starnutia.

The continuous increase in life expectancy in the border region and the concomitant increase in age-related diseases represent socio-economic challenges. The main objectives of the present project are in the AT-SK border region: a.) Improve the quality of life in old age through optimized eating habits, as Nutrient deficits in old age strongly contribute to age-related diseases b.) To reduce the number of new cases of age-related diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, rheumatism, diabetes or dementia diseases (eg Alzheimer's, Parkinson's) c.) Reduce retirement-related health costs by strengthening the nutritional - and health awareness on a broad scale in the field of senior citizens, but their care also in the "seniors of tomorrow" This is realized by: a.) This is realized by: a.) A research section where risk nutrients (such as vitamin D, protein and omega-3 Fatty acids) are being investigated b.) The establishment of specific "biomarkers" for healthy aging c.) A major training and dissemination section where seniors of today and tomorrow, health professionals and nurses are trained about the effect the nutrition has on healthy aging. Research will focus on monitoring the effect of nutrients on the process of aging of volunteers from two age categories while continuing to experiment these mechanisms at the level of human body organs and on the cell cultures we will determine the exact patomechanisms of aging.seniors and "seniors of tomorrow").

Expected Results (DE):

Zwei neue Labors gebaut und eingerichtet Ein Panel von neuen Biomarkern für Gesundes Altern (Erwartung: 5 Biomarker) entwickelt unter Einbeziehung der neuen Forschungsinfrastruktur durch Forscher von beiden Regionen, zur Verbesserung der Diagnostik in beiden Regionen. Gemeinsame Empfehlungen, Ausbildungen durch Vorträge und Workshops für die Zielgruppe der Senioren, “Senioren von Morgen”, interessierte Bevölkerung und allen Personen in Gesundheitsberufen und der Senioren-unterstützung. Gemeinsame Publikationen in wiss. und populärwiss. Zeitschriften wird die Reputation der Region zum Thema Gesundes Altern stärken Gemeinsame Module in der PhD Ausbildung beider Universitäten (für mindestens 100 PhD Studierende). Zumindest 4 neue PhDs und 18 neue MasterabsolventInnen im Bereich der Altersforschung Gemeinsame Verbreitung über Medien, TV, Radio, Bibliotheken, Print Medien etc. öffentliche Vorlesungen, Workshops, Flyern und einem Buch.

Expected Results (SK):

Dve prebudované špecializované laboratóriá s novými prístrojmi na stanovovanie markerov starnutia. Panel biomarkerov zdravého starnutia vyplývajúci z výsledkov výskumu (predpokladá sa 5 markerov) oboch tímov v susedných regiónoch. Všeobecné závery a odporúčania o správnej výžive a potrebe nutrientov pre cieľové skupiny - široká verejnosť (seniori a budúci seniori). Šírenie výsledkov výskumu medzi odborníkmi minimálne oboch regiónov (lekári, ošetrovateľky, sociálni pracovníci) na seminároch a konferenciách, v odborných časopisoch - zvýšenie reputácie regiónu v gerontologickom programe zdravého starnutia. Zavedenie nového predmetu pre asi 100 PhD. a magisterských študentov biomedicínskych disciplín „Vplyv výživy a nutrientov na zdravie človeka“. Príprava nových výskumníkov v oblasti výskumu starnutia (aspoň 4 PhD. študenti a 18 študentov magisterského štúdia). Spoločné šírenie výsledkov prostredníctvom dostupných médií - televízia, rozhlas, noviny, kniha.

Expected Results (EN):

Two new laboratories built and set up. A panel of new biomarkers for healthy aging (Expectation: 5 biomarkers) is being developed, incorporating new research infrastructure by researchers from both regions in order to improve diagnostics in both regions. Joint recommendations, training through lectures and workshops for the target group of seniors, "seniors of tomorrow", interested people and all persons in health professions and the elderly support. Joint publications in scientific and popular science. Journals will strengthen the region's reputation for healthy aging. Common modules in the PhD training of both universities (for at least 100 PhD students). At least 4 new PhDs and 18 new Master's graduates in the field of geriatric research.
