The project’s subject is the development of a Slovak-Austrian research and museum cooperation on the topic of design and innovation in which the first research topics are already being worked on and current results presented. There is a plan to develop a think tank which will deal with the research regarding the newest knowledge in the field of design look for answers and solutions on the following guestion: How the humans can make the optimal use of the current technical progress stemming from the digital revolution and how to overcome undesirable developments. Project’s partner institutions are specialized institutions for design and applied art: SCD - Slovak Design Center, VSVU - Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava and MAK - Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art and Die Angewandte - University of Applied Arts in Vienna. The project is supported by 6 important strategic partners (Slovakia: Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic, Cvernovka Foundation and Municipality of Bratislava, Austria: Austrian Institute of Technolgy, Kunsthalle Wien and Architekturzentrum Wien). A new research department will be set up within the framework of the project in the SCD, VSVU will involve the institutes of design, textile and visual communication, the Austrian partners will work in existing structures (Department of Social Design - University of Vienna, MAK - "Department of Design and Digital Culture" which will be expanded to include the research topic).

Predmetom projektu je vytvorenie slovensko-rakúskej výskumnej spolupráce na tému „Dizajn a inovacie“, v rámci ktorej budú spracované prvé výskumné témy a budú predstavené aktuálne výsledky výskumu. Do budúcnosti sa plánuje v rámci programovej oblasti vybudovať medzinárodne zosieťovaný think tank, ktorý sa bude venovať výskumu najnovších poznatkov z oblasti dizajnu a hľadať odpovede a riešenia na otázku, ako ľudia dokážu optimálne využiť súčasný technický pokrok vyplývajúci z digitálnej revolúcie a ako je možné vyvarovať sa predvídateľným problémom. Partnerskými organizáciami v projekte sú odborné inštitúcie pre dizajn a úžitkové umenie – v Bratislave Slovenské centrum dizajnu (SCD) a Vysoká škola výtvarných umení v Bratislave (VŠVU), vo Viedni MAK – Osterreichisches Museum fur angewandte Kunst / Gegenwartskunst a Die Angewandte – Universitat fur angewandte Kunst vo Viedni. Projekt podporujú šiesti strategickí partneri (na slovenskej strane Ministerstvo kultúry SR, Bratislavský samosprávny kraj a Nadácia Cvernovka, na rakúskej strane Austrian Institute of Technology, Kunsthalle Wien a Architekturzentrum Wien). V SCD sa v rámci projektu zriadi nové Výskumno-vývojové oddelenie, v rámci VŠVU sa do projektu zapoja katedry Dizajnu a Textilnej tvorby, rakúski partneri budú pre spoluprácu využívať existujúce štruktúry (oddelenie „Social Design“ na Die Angewandte; v MAK-u oddelenie „Design und digitale Kultur“, ktoré bude rozšírene o výskumne témy).

Gegenstand des Projekts ist der Aufbau einer slowakisch-österreichischen Forschungs- und Museumskooperation zum Thema Design und Innovation, in der schon erste Forschungsthemen bearbeitet und aktuelle Ergebnisse vorgestellt werden. Vision ist die Entwicklung eines Thinktanks, der vom Programmgebiet aus Designforschung nach dem neuesten Erkenntnisstand betreibt und - international vernetzt - Antworten und Lösungen findet, wie sich der sich abzeichnende technische Fortschritt, bereits als Digitale Revolution bezeichnet, für den Menschen optimal nutzen lässt und wie absehbare Fehlentwicklungen zu meistern sind. Partnereinrichtungen im Projekt sind Fachinstitutionen für Design und angewandte Kunst: in Bratislava SCD - Slowakisches Design Zentrum, VSVU – Hochschule für Bildenden Kunste und Design in Bratislava, in Wien MAK – Österreichisches Museum für angewandte Kunst / Gegenwartskunst und Die Angewandte - Universität für angewandte Kunst in Wien. Das Projekt wird von 6 wichtigen strategischen Partnern unterstützt (SK: Kulturministerium der slowakischen Republik, Stiftung Cvernovka und Selbstverwaltungskreis Bratislava; AT: Austrian Institute of Technolgy, Kunsthalle Wien und Architekturzentrum Wien). Im SCD wird im Rahmen des Projekts eine neue Forschungsabteilung eingerichtet, im Rahmen von VSVU werden sich am Projekt die Institute für Design, Textil und visuelle Kommunikation beteiligen, die österreichischen Partner werden in bestehenden Strukturen (Abteilung für „Social Design“ der Angewandten; MAK „Department Design und digitale Kultur“, das um das Forschungsthema erweitert wird) zusammen arbeiten.

Expected Results (EN):

The opportunities and risks of the digital revolution will be identified through design and interdisciplinary research and by engaging external experts, design students and stakeholders from a wide variety of specialist and creative areas. In the sense of "social design" it places people and society at the center of creative thinking as well as human-environment interactions throughout the lifecycle of architecture, products and services. Solutions in the form of design strategies will be developed. The strategies found on the basis of current challenges in the wake of the digital revolution will be presented to the general public.

Expected Results (SK):

Pomocou interdisciplinárneho výskumu dizajnu so zapojením externých odborníkov, študentov dizajnu a významných osobnosti z odborných a kreatívnych kruhov identifikuje šance a riziká digitálnej revolúcie. V zmysle sociálneho dizajnu do popredia dizajnérskej prace postaví človeka a spoločnosť, ako aj vzájomne pôsobenie medzi človekom a životným prostredím s ohľadom na celý životný cyklus architektúry, produktov a služieb. Vypracuje možné riešenia v podobe stratégií pre dizajn, odprezentuje širokej verejnosti navrhnute stratégie reagujúce na výzvy digitálnej revolúcie.

Expected Results (DE):

Durch Design- und interdisziplinare Forschung unter Einbeziehung externer Experten, Designstudenten und Stakeholder und aus den verschiedensten Fach- und Kreativbereichen die Chancen und Risiken der Digitalen Wende identifiziert / im Sinne von „Social Design“ sowohl den Menschen und die Gesellschaft in den Mittelpunkt gestalterischer Uberlegungen stellt als auch die Mensch-Umwelt-Wechselwirkungen im gesamten Lebenszyklus von Architektur, Produkten und Dienstleistungen einbezieht. / Losungsansatze in Form von Designstrategien entwickelt / die gefundenen Strategien anhand von aktuellen Herausforderungen im Zuge der Digitalen Wende an die breite Offentlichkeit vermittelt.
