The project implements innovative solutions for the production of biomass from industrial-scale waste streams using micro- and macro-algae. As the algae absorb carbon dioxide and nutrients, there is a large positive environmental and climate impact. The project aims to implement innovative solutions for the production of biomass from waste streams on an industrial scale using micro- and macro algae. The project aims to create a network of stakeholders in the algae industry in the Botnia-Atlantica region. The target group is medium-sized and small companies such as wastewater treatment plants, biogas producers, dairies, power plants and pulp and paper industry. To achieve this goal, the project will also develop a cost- and energy-efficient scalable cultivation system and methods for the conversion of algae biomass for energy production and high-quality products.

Projektet implementerar innovativa lösningar för produktion av biomassa från avfallsströmmar i industriell skala genom att använda mikro- och makroalger. Eftersom algerna tar upp koldioxid och näringsämnen finns en stor positiv miljö- och klimatpåverkan. Projektets mål är att implementera innovativa lösningar för produktion av biomassa från avfallsströmmar i industriell skala genom att använda mikro- och makroalger. Projektet syftar till att skapa ett nätverk av berörda aktörer inom algindustrin i Botnia-Atlantica-regionen. Målgruppen är medelstora och små företag såsom avloppsvattenreningsverk, biogasproducenter, mejerier, kraftverk samt massa- och pappersindustrin. För att uppnå målet kommer projektet också att utveckla ett kostnads- och energieffektivt uppskalbart odlingssystem och metoder för omvandling av algbiomassan för energiproduktion och högvärdiga produkter.
