Future Cleantech Solutions

Future Cleantech Solutions är ett projekt som verkar för att öka och förbättra den praktiska informationen om affärs- och samarbetsmöjligheter inom Kvarkenregionen. Future Cleantech Solutions främjar cleantechföretagens möjligheter till konkreta affärs- och samarbetsmöjligheter. Detta görs genom utveckling av metoder för spridning av praktisk affärsinformation inom Kvarkenregionen, utveckling av metoder som stödjer konkreta gränsöverskridande affärssamarbeten, samt genom att stödja utvecklingen av nya och befintliga gränsöverskridande klustersamarbeten. Projektets fokus ligger på att genom gränsöverskridande samarbete tillvarata de nya möjligheter som uppstår genom de nya etableringar, investeringar och satsningar som förbereds, planeras och genomförs i regionen.

Future Cleantech Solutions is a project that works to increase and improve practical information about business and collaboration opportunities within the Kvarken region. Future Cleantech Solutions promotes cleantech companies’ opportunities for concrete business and collaboration opportunities. This is done through the development of methods for the dissemination of practical business information within the Kvarken region, the development of methods that support concrete cross-border business collaborations, and by supporting the development of new and existing cross-border cluster collaborations. The focus of the project is on exploiting, through cross-border cooperation, the new opportunities arising from the new establishments, investments and initiatives that are being prepared, planned and implemented in the region.

Future Cleantech Solutions var ett treårigt projekt som pågick under åren 2019-2021 och finansierades till 60 procent av Interregprogrammet Botnia-Atlantica. Övriga finansiärer var Österbottens förbund, Region Västerbotten, Region Västernorrland, Umeå kommun, Umeå Energi, Skellefteå kommun, Skellefteå Kraft, Örnsköldsviks kommun, VASEK Vasaregionens Utveckling AB, Teknologicenter Merinova, Vasa stad, Karleby stad och Karlebynejdens Utveckling AB KOSEK. Syftet med projektet var att stärka den hållbara utvecklingen i Kvarkenregionen genom att skapa förutsättningar för cleantechföretagen att ta del av nya affärs- och samarbetsmöjligheter. Projektet har drivits i samverkan mellan regionala organisationer och bolag med stöd av EU-programmet Interreg Botnia-Atlantica. Fokus för projektet har varit att tillvarata de nya möjligheter som uppstår genom etableringar och investeringar i regionen, främst inom utvecklingsområdena energi, smarta hållbara städer, bioekonomi och kemi. Projektgruppen har därför verkat för att stärka värdekedjan mellan större aktörer och små och medelstora företag. Projektets aktiviteter har innefattat utveckling av metoder för spridning av praktisk affärsinformation, stöd till konkreta gränsöverskridande affärssamarbeten och insatser för att främja utvecklingen av nya och befintliga klustersamarbeten. Främjande av jämställdhet och inkludering har även haft hög prioritet i alla projektaktiviteter. Projektets publikationer och webbinarier: Projektets lärdomar har samlats till en guide, som hjälper små och medelstora företag att på bästa sätt tillvarata de möjligheter som följer med stora lokala investeringar. Guiden vänder sig till såväl små och medelstora företag som personer verksamma inom näringslivsorganisationer, som vill främja och stötta lokalt företagande och hållbar utveckling. Under hösten 2021 genomfördes en kartläggning över jämställdhetsläget inom Kvarkenregionens cleantechföretag på uppdrag av projektet. Uppdraget genomfördes som ett samarbetet mellan Ekvalita i Finland och Vkna i Sverige och resulterade i en rapport som synliggör behov och möjligheter för fortsatt utveckling inom jämställdhetsområdet inom cleantech.

Future Cleantech Solutions was a three-year project that lasted from 2019-2021 and was funded 60 % by the Botnia-Atlantica Interreg programme. Other financiers were the Association of Ostrobothnia, Region Västerbotten, Region Västernorrland, Umeå Municipality, Umeå Energi, Skellefteå Municipality, Skellefteå Kraft, Örnsköldsvik Municipality, VASEK Vaasa Region Development AB, Technology Center Merinova, City of Vaasa, Kokkola City and Karlebynejdens Utveckling AB KOSEK. The aim of the project was to strengthen the sustainable development of the Kvarken region by creating conditions for cleantech companies to benefit from new business and cooperation opportunities. The project has been run in collaboration between regional organisations and companies with the support of the EU programme Interreg Botnia-Atlantica. The focus of the project has been to seize the new opportunities created by establishing and investing in the region, mainly in the development areas of energy, smart sustainable cities, bioeconomy and chemistry. The project team has therefore worked to strengthen the value chain between larger actors and SMEs. The activities of the project have included the development of methods for disseminating practical business information, support for concrete cross-border business collaborations and efforts to promote the development of new and existing cluster collaborations. Promoting gender equality and inclusion has also been a high priority in all project activities. Project publications and webinars: The lessons of the project have been gathered into a guide to help SMEs make the best use of the opportunities associated with large local investments. The guide is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises as well as those working in business organisations, who want to promote and support local entrepreneurship and sustainable development. In the autumn of 2021, a survey of the gender equality situation within the Kvarken region’s cleantech companies was carried out on behalf of the project. The assignment was carried out as a collaboration between Ekvalita in Finland and vakna in Sweden and resulted in a report that highlights needs and opportunities for continued development in the area of gender equality within cleantech.
