The objective of the project is to increase the international competitiveness of regional SMEs by increasing their ability to create international business and innovation development, exploit digitalisation and gain a critical mass in cross-border partnerships. The problem that the BID4E project aims to solve is that many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Botnia-Atlantica region have limited knowledge, tools and networking opportunities for international business development. The consequences of this problem are serious, as these SMEs usually have a limited domestic market. They must therefore be able to cope with competition and the changes that digitalisation causes in global business in order to maintain and preferably expand their markets internationally.

Projektets mål är att öka den internationella konkurrenskraften i regionala SMF genom att öka deras möjligheter att skapa internationell affärs- och innovationsutveckling, utnyttja digitalisering och få en kritisk massa i gränsöverskridande partnerskap. Det problem som BID4E-projektet syftar till att lösa är att många små och medelstora företag (SMF) i Botnia-Atlantica-regionen har begränsade kunskaper, verktyg och nätverksmöjligheter för internationell affärsutveckling. Konsekvenserna av detta problem är allvarliga, eftersom dessa små och medelstora företag vanligtvis har en begränsad hemmamarknad. De måste därför kunna hantera konkurrensen och de förändringar som digitaliseringen orsakar i den globala affärsverksamheten för att kunna bevara och helst utöka sina marknader internationellt.
