Description (EN):

The project develops and evaluates a customised application, primarily intended for tablet/tablet — with a focus on the promotion of meaningful social activities among the elderly in the Botnia region. The planned application is aimed at home-based elderly people at risk of social isolation, and will support older people’s ability to maintain social networks, relationships and activities. In the design and development of the innovative application, existing evidence-based prototypes will be further developed and tested in collaboration with end-users and stakeholders in three different municipalities in the project region. At project completion, three different cases will be presented, where different adapted variants of the digital solution have been developed according to the specific needs and conditions identified in the different municipalities. The target group of the project is actors in the field, including smaller to medium-sized regional companies that at project completion can introduce the digital solution into their product range. Regional companies on both sides of Kvarken are also connected to the operations during the project period. An open innovation approach with strong user involvement is applied throughout the project from prototype to finished product, to secure market bases for the application.

Projektet utvecklar och utvärderar en specialanpassad applikation, i första hand avsedd för pekdator/tablet - med fokus på främjande av meningsfulla sociala aktiviteter bland äldre i Botniaregionen. Den planerade applikationen riktar sig till hemmaboende äldre personer i riskzonen för social isolering, och ska stöda äldres möjligheter till upprätthållande av sociala nätverk, relationer och aktiviteter. I design- och utvecklingsarbetet av den innovativa applikationen kommer befintliga evidensbaserade prototyper att vidareutvecklas och testas i samarbete med slutanvändare och intressenter i tre olika kommuner i projektregionen. Vid projektavslut kommer tre olika case presenteras, där olika anpassade varianter av den digitala lösningen har framtagits enligt de specifika behov och förutsättningar som identifierats i de olika kommunerna. Projektets målgrupp är aktörer inom fältet, bl.a. mindre till medelstora regionala företag som vid projektavslut kan införa den digitala lösningen i sitt produktsortiment. Regionala företag på bägge sidor om Kvarken kopplas även in i verksamheten under projekttiden. En open innovation approach med stark brukarmedverkan tillämpas genomgående i projektet från prototyp till färdigutvecklad produkt, för att säkra marknadsunderlag för applikationen.

Achievements (EN):

During the project, a tailored application for tablet computers, focusing on the promotion of meaningful social activities for older adults in the Botnia region, was designed, developed and evaluated. The planned application targeted community-dwelling older adults at risk for social isolation, and supported older adults' opportunities for maintaining social networks, relationships and activities. In the design and development process the existing prototypes will be further developed and tested in collaboration with end-users and other stakeholders in three municipalities in the project region.
