Landscape memory — cross-border development measures in Czech-Saxon Switzerland based on landscape history

The project was dedicated to the first cross-border survey and documentation of landscape changes since 1945 in the Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland national park region. The region is a cultural landscape that has been used and shaped by people for centuries — be it by mining sandstone, by forestry and agriculture or by tourism. The analyses of the project, which were carried out using historical topographic maps, as well as aerial and satellite image data, enabled statements on the development of landscapes with regard to their biodiversity. As a result, management strategies were developed for the protection, restoration and connection of local and cross-border structures in the biotope network. Project results: A cross-border touring exhibition Museum in the countryside in the National Park Centre Bad Schandau and in the Děčín City Library public presentation of the results at a discussion event and excursion in Krásná Lípa. Das Projekt widmete sich der ersten grenzüberschreitenden flächendeckenden Erfassung und Dokumentation der Landschaftsveränderungen seit 1945 in der Nationalparkregion Sächsisch-Böhmische Schweiz. Die Region stellt eine von Menschen seit Jahrhunderten genutzte und geformte Kulturlandschaft dar - sei es durch Abbau von Sandstein, durch Forst- und Landwirtschaft oder durch Tourismus. Die Analysen des Projektes, die anhand historischer topographischer Karten sowie Luftbild- und Satellitenbilddaten durchgeführt wurden, ermöglichten Aussagen zur Entwicklung der Landschaften hinsichtlich ihrer biologischen Vielfalt. Im Ergebnis wurden Managementstrategien für den Schutz, die Restaurierung und Verbindung von lokalen und grenzübergreifenden Strukturen im Biotopverbund entwickelt. Projektergebnisse: Eine grenzübergreifende Wanderausstellung Museum im Grünen im Nationalparkzentrum Bad Schandau und in der Stadtbibliothek Děčín öffentlichkeitswirksame Präsentation der Ergebnisse auf einer Diskussions-veranstaltung und Exkursion in Krásná Lípa. Austausch zwischen Stakeholdern der Region rund um die Bereiche Tourismus, Mobilität, Landwirtschaft und Forstwirtschaft.
