Achievements (EN):

After a lot of three years working together with our Czech cooperation partners, we successfully completed our project “Lutra lutra” at the end of February. In the project funded by the EU from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), we were able to gather together with our partners a huge pool of data from which significant new insights were gained. The project objectives could be fully met. For example, we now know where important migration corridors are located and where critical hazards and migration barriers are still preventing fish otter migrations. For these areas, we were able to compile recommendations for action. Based on the analysis of genetic samples that have been extensively collected, we also know the affiliation of the otters in the project area to the source populations. As a result, it is now possible to assess how the animals migrate and open up new areas, so that the basis for the status assessment of the population is now available. The cooperation of the actors as well as public relations were part of the project, which made the work very varied and communicative.

Achievements (DE):

Nach reichlich drei Jahren gemeinsamer Arbeit mit unseren tschechischen Kooperationspartnern konnten wir unser Projekt "Lutra lutra" Ende Februar erfolgreich abschließen. In dem von der EU mit Mittel des Europäischen Fonds für regionale Entwicklung (EFRE) geförderten Projekt konnten wir mit unseren Partnern einen riesigen Datenpool zusammentragen, anhand dessen bedeutende, neue Erkenntnisse erlangt wurden. Die Projektziele konnten umfassend erfüllt werden. So wissen wir jetzt, wo wichtige Migrationskorridore liegen und wo kritische Gefährdungsstellen und Migrationshindernisse die Wanderungen des Fischotters noch verhindern. Für diese Bereiche konnten wir Maßnahmenempfehlungen zusammenstellen. Anhand der Analyse genetischer Proben, die aufwändig gesammelt wurden, kennen wir zudem die Zugehörigkeit der Fischotter im Projektgebiet zu den Quellpopulationen. Aufgrund dessen kann nun eingeschätzt werden, wie die Tiere wandern und neue Gebiete erschließen, so dass die Grundlage für die Zustandsbewertung der Population nun vorhanden ist. Die Zusammenarbeit der Akteure sowie die Öffentlichkeitsarbeit waren Projektbestandteile, welche die Arbeit sehr abwechslungsreich und kommunikativ machten.
