Description (EN): The project will create better conditions for a more sustainable energy future in the Cross Border region through construction of energy-efficient public buildings, improving of awareness of population and stakeholders for the benefits of the energy efficiency measures and increasing of capacity of public administration staff for energy efficiency measures and climate change, promoting energy efficiency as tools for achieving sustainable development and improving the quality of life in cross border region.Project activities included: capacity building for climate change, public awareness raising campaign, capacity building-green infrastructure, reconstruction of the Municipal building - Kocani , reconstruction of the Regional Administration building in Blagoevgrad, thematic workshops and campaign tour, development of Regional energy strategy – Blagoevgrad. The project will have long-term positive impact on environment in the CB region and will improve quality of life through improvement of air quality. With the implementation of planed works for the public buildings, cost for electricity and heating fuel should be reduced approximately for 3 % annually. Achievements of the project will be used as a basis for recommendation for defining environmental sector specific policies, strategies and actions, which will be further developed by the teams of both partners, by the local authorities, by the universities and NGOs that work in the area of the protection of environment.

Проектните активности вклучуваат: градење на капацитети за климатски промени, подигање на јавната свест, јакнење на капацитетите - зелена инфраструктура, реконструкција на општинската зграда - Кочани, реконструкција на зградата на регионалната управа во Благоевград, тематски работилници и турнеја кампања, развојот на регионалната енергетска стратегија - Благоевград. Проектот ќе има долгорочно позитивно влијание врз животната средина во прекуграничниот регион и ќе го подобри квалитетот на животот преку подобрување на квалитетот на воздухот. Со имплементација на планираните работи за јавните објекти, трошоците за електрична енергија и греење треба да се намалат за околу 3% на годишно ниво. Постигнувањата на проектот ќе се користат како основа за препораката за дефинирање на конкретни политики во областа на животната средина, стратегии и активности, кои понатаму ќе се развиваат од страна на тимовите на двајцата партнери, од страна на локалните власти, од универзитетите и невладините организации кои работат во областа на заштитата на животната средина.
Read more Description (BG): Проектът ще създаде по-добри условия за устойчиво енергийно планиране в трансграничния регион, чрез прилагане на мерки за постигане на висока енергийна ефективност на обществените сгради, чрез подобряване на информираността на населението и заинтересованите страни за ползите от мерките за енергийна ефективност, чрез усъвършенстване на капацитета на публичната администрация по отношение на управлението, свързано с климатичните промени, чрез насърчаване повишаването на енергийната ефективност, като средство за постигане на устойчиво развитие и подобряване на качеството на живот в трансграничния регион. Дейностите по проекта включват: изграждане на капацитет по отношение на климатичните промени; провеждане на кампания за повишаване информираността на широката общественост; повишаване на капацитета за изграждане на зелена инфраструктура; реализиране на строително-ремонти работи за повишаване на енергийната ефективност на админстративните сгради на Община Кочани и на Областна администрация Благоевград; провеждане на тематични семинари и информационни събития; разработване на Регионална стратегия за устойчиво енергийно планиране - Благоевград. Проектът предвижда дългосрочен положителен ефект върху околната среда в трансграничния регион и подобряване на качеството на живот, включително качеството на въздуха. С изпълнението на планираните мерки за повишаване на енергийната ефективност на обществените сгради, годишните разходите за електричество и гориво за отопление ще се намалят приблизително с 3%. Постиженията на проекта ще бъдат използвани при формирането и провеждането на устойчиви секторни политики с насоченост към опазване на околната среда, при бъдещото съвместно устойчиво стратегическо планиране в широко партньорство между екипите на партньорите по проекта, местните власти, университетите и неправителствените организации, както и при извеждането на конкретни мерки и бъдещи проекти за устойчива енергия в региона.
Read more Achievements (EN): Results from the Project implementation have a positive impact to the general needs of target region shall lead to an improvement in the cooperation between regional and local authorities and an improvement of environment through reducing the GHG emissions. The project support specific initiatives and partnerships to build regional and local capacity in the area of environment. Project create possibility for long-term cooperation between the target groups, beneficiaries and all stakeholders in the environmental area, to reduce air pollution, ability to increase the intellectual potential by enriching their knowledge in the field of green infrastructure and green transport, promoting best practice and share experience. Project has a fairly sizeable impact on joint environmental protection. The project has direct and multiple impact towards sustainable usage of the energy and creating prerequisite for sustainable development of the cross-border region. Joint efforts for raising awareness for climate change among population, public administration and other stakeholder will contribute towards successful utilization, preservation and management of the natural resources in the area and improve the overall quality of life of the citizens. Number of supported investments for improving the environmental conditions in the programme region;2.00;In two facilities (municipal muilding of Municipality of Kochani and part of the Regional administration Blagoevgrad building) energy efficiency is improved which lead to the reduced energy consumption and reduce GHG emissions.
Municipal Building of Kochani - Measures for increasing the energy efficiency have been implemented. Appropriate work for increasing the energy efficiency have been implemented in order to achieve required thermal characteristics. Energy Efficiency rating of the building after implementation of measures has been improved from D to B class
Regional Administration building in Blagoevgrad has been reconstructed. Energy Efficiency rating of the building after implementation of measures have been improved from D to C.
Number of institutions/organizations involved in environmental related activities;2.00;Both project partner are institution/organizations and have been involved in the environmental activities. Both partners implemented activities for improvement of the energy efficiency in two public building and represents of the both project partners have been included in the capacity building measures related with the climate change and green infrastructure.
Number of participants in environmental related trainings and campaigns;190.00;More than 190 persons participated on workshops, trainings and campaign events related with the climate change.

- 2 Thematic workshops in Blagoevgrad (62 + 69 participants)
- Regional Energy Strategy workshop (32 participants)
- Two final press conferences in Kochani and Blagoevgrad (67 + 85)
