Number of supported investments for improving the environmental conditions in the programme region;2.00;Within the project, two (2) main investments for Kindergarten "Detska Radost" in Strumica, and Kindergarten "Pyrvi Juny" in Kyustendil were made.
Infrastructure investment works in Strumica.
(1) Namely, one (1) kindergarten building (building no.2) in Strumica, which was over 50 years old, was reconstructed (walls reconstructed with insulation and proper facade; new PVC energy efficient windows installed; and new roof with eco-friendly materials constructed and insulated with thermal insulation). In total 779 energy efficient LED bulbs/lights installed in 3 kindergartens (buildings no. 2, 3 and 4) in Strumica. Three (3) solar water-heating systems for sanitary hot water installed in 3 kindergartens (buildings no. 2, 3 and 4) in Strumica. Supervisory services of the implementation of reconstruction works and other investment activities were provided. The works contracts were executed in the required terms and in high quality.
(2) The purpose of the Infrastructure investment works in Kyustendil in general were consisted of: 1) Remodeling kindergarten building in village Sovolyano, Kyustendil - the educational and working area was improved through the following works: delivery and installation of 4 flat solar collectors, renovation and roof repair, dismantling woodwork windows, delivery and installation PVC windows, construction of hydro insulation from waterproofing membrane in one layer, delivery and assembly of aluminum doors, plastering, construction of levelling mortar on terraces; 2) Remodeling kindergarten building "Pyrvi Juny" in Kyustendil - central building - delivery and installation of 4 flat solar collectors; 3) Renovation of three “green” playground in the kindergarten in village Sovoloyano, in the central building and in kindergarten "Zornitsa", Kyustendil - installation of wooden fences, benches, swing type ''balance'' - wood, jogger-wood, sandstone, mounting of tartan flooring plates, rest area.
The works contracts were executed in the required terms and in high quality.
Number of supported joint mechanisms for environmental protection, promotion of biodiversity and sustainable use of natural resources;1.00;A joint handbook “Going Green” for kindergarten teachers was developed, prepared, designed and printed. This activity was implemented in several stages, as follows: (1) Desk research was performed and similar practices for “green” handbook for kindergarten children in the EU countries and worldwide identified; (2) Two-day team building workshop for 30 selected kindergarten teachers (15 from MK and 15 from BG) organized in Strumica; (3) Joint handbook “Going green” for preparation of lessons plan for environmental education of pre-school children (4-6 years) to be used by kindergarten teachers and consistent with national curriculums and international priorities/methods developed in English language; (4) The developed joint handbook was translated in national languages (MK/BG); (5) Joint handbook printed in 1000 copies (500 MK/500 BG).

The program consisted of two (2) workshops: one three-day workshop in Kyustendil and one two-day workshop in Strumica for 15 teachers from kindergarten “Detska Radost” - Strumica and 15 teachers from kindergarten “Pyrvi Juny” - Kjustendil. The topics presented in the workshops followed the “Going Green” handbook developed and prepared under Activity
3. The first workshop in Kyustendil (25.08.2017 - 27.08.2017), with 30 participants (15 from each side), focused on modern didactic-based principles and methods, flexibility in implementation, and quality assurance. The second workshop in Strumica (04.11.2017 - 05.11.2017), with 30 participants (15 from each side), focused on sharing of experiences, practical exercises, and development of activities for children on environmental topics. Teachers were taught how to play so that they may teach the children and also have learned how to develop ideas for interactive content from internet using equipment supplied under Activity
7. It was organized as an exchange programme: two one-day visits in the kindergartens of each of the partners respectively for 20 kindergarten children, 20 parents and 5 teachers, one in Strumica (crafts part) and the other in Kjustendil (art part).

The topic of the workshop was “Creative children: Preparing demonstration green projects for energy efficiency and renewable energy sources through modeling and games for children“. The purpose of the workshop was raising awareness and the importance of responsible behavior among children from the both kindergartens and application of the previously acquired knowledge about topics in the field of environmental education, such as environmental protection, sustainable use of natural resources, energy saving, water saving, etc., through the preparation of green projects by use of interactive and creative approaches, entertainment, humor and games for children. A total of sixteen (16) green projects were prepared. The workshop was attended by 40 kindergarten children, 40 parents and 10 representatives of the educational staff from the kindergartens in Strumica and Kyustendil.
