Connect SME Plus is a follow-up of a previous project that analysed the cross border cooperation of small and medium sized companies (SME). The research shows that more than two thirds of these SMEs are not exporting. Among them 89% shares the opinion that an external support would be needed to consider eventual neighbouring or third market entrance. Regardless the fact that some of SME products have market and innovative potential, fear, lack of ambitions, language, occupancy with local market, lack of time, staff, finances or networks as well as isolation from dynamic urban start up milieu represent the main reasons for weak or even no of international activity of SMEs. Key challenges is activation of border SMEs while exploiting and networking existing institutional and research framework, their R&D, networks, existing training programmes as well as taking advantage of new market and digital trends. General project objective is to strengthen cross border and global business connectivity of peripheral border SMEs that demonstrate the highest growth and innovation potential and thus contribute to their long term competiveness. Results, changes and innovativeness: Through empowering competences of SMEs for traditional and digital internationalisation, the project will influence change from local to global mind-set across 300 border SMEs. By practical cross border school of internationalisation, mentoring and concrete experience in neighbouring or foreign markets, 40 SMEs will raise their competences to be able of carrying internationalisation activities independently. Earlier, the promotion of cross border business cooperation depended mainly on external consultants, Connect SME Plus builds on companies and our own human resource potentials. At the same time the project creates a cross border network which will be able to provide support to SMEs in accessing neighbouring and other foreign markets also after the project is completed.

Connect SME Plus ist der Nachfolger eines Projekts, bei dem die grenzüberschreitende Zusammenarbeit von KMU analysiert wurde. Eine Untersuchung hat gezeigt, dass mehr als zwei Drittel der KMU im grenznahen Raum nicht exportieren und 89 % auf Auslandsmärkten Unterstützung von außen brauchen. Obwohl manche Unternehmen interessante und innovative Produkte haben, behindern Angst, fehlender Ehrgeiz, fehlende Sprachenkenntnisse, die Belastung mit dem lokalen Markt, Zeit, Personal und Geldmangel sowie eine fehlende Vernetzung und die große Entfernung von einem dynamischen urbanen Start up Milieu die Internationalisierung. Die wesentliche Herausforderung des Projekts ist die Exportaktivierung der KMU in den grenznahen Gebieten, wobei bestehende F&E Netzwerk und schon entwickelte Programme sowie neue Marketingtrends und digitale Trends genützt werden sollen. Das allgemeine Projektziel ist die Förderung der grenzüberschreitenden und globalen Konnektivität der KMU in peripheren Grenzregionen mit dem größten Wachstums und Innovationspotenzial, um auf diese Art und Weise die langfristige Wettbewerbsfähigkeit sicherzustellen. Ergebnis, Änderungen und Innovativität: Mit dem Projekt werden wir durch Stärkung der Kompetenzen von KMU auf dem Gebiet der traditionellen und digitalen Internationalisierung Anstöße vermitteln, um vom lokalen Denken zum grenzüberschreitenden und globalen Denken von zumindest 300 KMU beizutragen. Davon werden 40 KMU mit Hilfe der praktischen grenzüberschreitenden Schule der Internationalisierung und konkreten Erfahrungen auf Auslandsmärkten befähigt zur selbständigen Internationalisierung. Bisher beruhte die Förderung der grenzüberschreitebnden wirtschaftlichen Zusammenarbeit auf externen Beratern. Das Projekt baut auf den Potenzialen der Unternehmen selbst und auf unseren Personalressourcen auf, um grenzüberschreitende Netzwerke zu schaffen, die den KMU bei ihrem Markteintritt auf internationalen Märkten auch nach Projektabschluss helfen.

Connect SME Plus predstavlja nadgradnjo predhodnega projekta, v katerem je bila opravljena analiza čezmejnega sodelovanja malih in srednjih podjetij (MSP). Raziskava je pokazala, da več kot dve tretjini MSP iz obmejnega prostora ne izvaža, 89% od teh pa meni, da za vstop na sosednje ali tuje trge potrebuje spodbudo od zunaj. Kljub temu, da imajo nekatera podjetja tržno zanimive in inovativne proizvode, so strah, neambicioznost, jezik, obremenjenost z lokalnim trgom, pomanjkanje časa, kadrov, financ in mrež ter oddaljenost od dinamičnega urbanega start up okolja glavni razlogi za njihovo šibko sploh (ne)internacionalizacijo. Ključni izziv projekta predstavlja izvozno aktiviranje MSP z obmejnih območij, ob tem pa v največji meri uporabiti ter povezati obstoječe institucionalno in raziskovalno okolje, njegove RR in poslovne mreže, že razvite programe ter izkoristiti nove tržne in digitalne trende. Splošni cilj projekta je okrepiti čezmejno in globalno poslovno povezljivost MSP s perifernih obmejnih območij, ki izkazujejo največji potencial za rast in inovativnost ter na ta način prispevati k zagotavljanju njihove dolgoročne konkurenčnosti. Rezultat, spremembe in inovativnost: Skozi projekt bomo s krepitvijo kompetenc MSP za tradicionalno in digitalno internacionalizacijo vplivali na premik od lokalnega k čezmejnemu in globalnemu razmišljanju najmanj 300 MSP. 40 med njimi bo s pomočjo praktične čezmejne male šole internacionalizacije, mentorstva in konkretne izkušnje na sosednjem ali tujem trgu usposobljeno za samostojno internacionalizacijo. Doslej je pospeševanje čezmejnega poslovnega sodelovanja temeljilo na zunanjih svetovalcih. S projektom krepimo potenciale podjetij samih in naše lastne kadre ter vzpostavljamo čezmejna omrežja, ki bodo nudila podporo MSP pri vstopanju na zunaje trge tudi po zaključku projekta.

Das Projekt Connect SME Plus wird folgende Resultate erreichen: - 300 KMU erhalten Informationen über die Internationalisierung. - 40 KMU werden für die gü. und internationale Geschäftsabwicklung ausgebildet. - 100 KMU nehmen an Internationalisierungsaktivitäten für den Nachbarmarkt oder für Drittmärkte teil. - Gestaltung und Umsetzung eines Ausbildungsprogramms für die Internationalisierung von KMU, das an die Erfordernisse von gü. und globaler, digitaler Geschäftsabwickung angepasst ist. - Schaffung eines Netzwerks zur Föderung der grenzübergreifenden Zusammenarbeit und Internationalisierung. Das Projekt behebt wesentliche Hindernisse für grenznahe KMU beim Eintritt auf fremde Märkte. Wir erwarten, dass aufgrund neuer Kenntnisse und geschaffener Geschäftskontakte zumindest 40 der eingebundenen KMU zu Projektende in der Lage sein werden, selbstständig gü. tätig zu sein. D.h. sie werden internationale Businessnetzwerke aufbauen, um mit Exportaktivitäten zu beginnen bzw. erweitern.

Expected Outputs (SL):

Connect SME Plus bo dosegel naslednje rezultate: - 300 MSP bo ozaveščenih o pomenu internacionalizacije. - 40 MSP bo usposobljenih za čezmejno in mednarodno poslovanje. - 100 MSP se bo neposredno udeležilo internacionalizacijskih aktivnosti na sosednjem trgu ali na tretjih trgih. - Za čezmejno in globalno digitalno poslovanje MSP prilagojeno in izvedeno usposabljanje za internacionalizacijo MSP-jev. - Vzpostavljena stalna mreža za podporo čezmejnemu poslovnemu sodelovanju in internacionalizaciji MSP. Projekt neposredno odpravlja ključne ovire, s katerimi se soočajo obmejna MSP pri vstopanju na sosednji ali tretji trg. V tem smislu pričakujemo, da bo na podlagi novih veščin in vzpostavljenih poslovnih kontaktov vsaj 40 MSP od vključenih v projekt ob zaključku projekta sposobno samostojnega čezmejnega poslovanja in nastopanja na tujih trgih. To pomeni, da bodo vzpostavili mednarodne poslovne kontakte z namenom razširiti obstoječe ali pričeti z novimi izvoznimi aktivnostmi.
