NWE ist eine der Regionen mit dem höchsten Energieverbrauch in der EU. Der Anteil an EE im regionalen Produktions- und Verbrauchsmix ist gering und es liegt eine starke Abhängigkeit von nicht-erneuerbaren Energiequellen vor. RegEnergy zielt darauf ab, THG-Emissionen durch eine deutliche Erhöhung des EE-Anteils zu reduzieren. Das Projekt fördert Partnerschaften zwischen städtischen und ländlichen Gebieten mit einem innovativen integrierten regionalen Ansatz. Diese Partnerschaften werden lokale & regionale Akteure dazu befähigen, ihren Energiebedarf mit regionalen EE-Quellen zu decken, während EE-Produzenten aus dem Umland vom Zugang zu städtischen Energieverbrauchern und Einkünften profitieren werden. Die Partner, d.h. Städte, Gemeinden, Energieagenturen, Wissenschaftseinrichtungen und EE-Produzenten aus 7 NWE-Ländern, werden durch institutionelle und vertragliche Vereinbarungen funktionsfähige neue Stadt-Land-Partnerschaften etablieren. Diese Partnerschaften werden fehlende regionale Verbindungen zwischen EE-Angebot & –Nachfrage durch die Implementierung von Pilotmaßnahmen zur Steigerung des Anteils EE aus regionalen Quellen schließen. Durch strategische Infrastruktur, Speicherkapazitäten und intelligente Kopplung werden in 6 Regionen über 43.900t CO2-Emissionen p.a. reduziert. Die Investitionen bilden die Voraussetzung zur Umsetzung optimierter Ansätze für Stadt-Land-Partnerschaften. Eine effektive Partnerschaftsorganisation und praktikable Modelle zur regionalen Synchronisierung von Angebot & Nachfrage werden die lokalen & regionalen Akteure dabei unterstützen und die Deckung einer stärkeren Nachfrage ermöglichen. Die aktive Ausweitung des Projekts auf 8 kooperierende Regionen während der Projektlaufzeit wird dessen Einfluss steigern und Investitionen i.H.v. 30 Mio. EUR befähigen. Das Klima-Bündnis, ein europäisches Städtenetzwerk mit 300 Mitgliedern innerhalb NWE, wird als federführender Partner auch nach Projektende eine langfristige Umsetzung sicherstellen.

L’Europe du Nord-Ouest (ENO) est l 'une des régions de l 'UE où la consommation d 'énergie est la plus élevée. La part des énergies renouvelables (EnR) dans le mix énergétique de la région est faible et la dépendance aux énergies non-renouvelables est élevée. RegEnergy vise à réduire les émissions de GES en augmentant la part des EnR. Le projet renforcera des partenariats offre/demande d 'EnR entre zones urbaines et zones rurales à travers une approche régionale intégrée. Ces partenariats permettront aux collectivités locales et régionales des zones urbanisées de répondre à leur demande d 'énergie par des EnR provenant de sources proches et fiables. Les producteurs d’EnR dans les zones rurales bénéficieront de l 'accès aux consommateurs d’énergie urbains et aux sources de revenus. Les partenaires issus de villes, communautés rurales, agences régionales, institutions scientifiques et producteurs d’EnR dans 7 pays de l’ENO encourageront de nouveaux partenariats viables entre zones urbaines et rurales par des accords institutionnels et contractuels. Ces partenariats feront les liens régionaux entre la demande et l’offre en mettant en œuvre les installations pilotes de RegEnergy ce qui contribuera à répondre à la forte augmentation de la demande régionale d’EnR. Dans 6 régions, infrastructure stratégique, capacités de stockage et couplage intelligent réduiront les émissions de CO2 de plus de 43 900 t/ an. Les partenariats et modèles concrets de synchronisation demande/offre apporteront un soutien fort aux collectivités pour répondre même à une forte demande. Le déploiement actif du projet dans 8 régions coopérantes renforcera l 'impact du projet, avec un levier de 30 mio € d 'investissement. En tant que chef de file, Climate Alliance, un réseau de villes européennes comptant 300 membres dans l’ENO, assurera le déploiement à long terme après la fin du projet.

Description (EN):

NWE is one of the EU’s highest energy consuming regions. The share of renewable energy (RE) in the region’s production and consumption mix is low and there is a strong dependence on non-renewable energy sources. RegEnergy focuses on the reduction of GHG emissions by increasing the share of RE. The project will foster RE demand-supply partnerships between urbanised and surrounding rural areas with an innovative integrated regional approach. These partnerships will enable local and regional authorities from urbanised areas to meet their energy demand with RE from reliable nearby sources. RE producers in rural areas will, in turn, benefit from access to urban energy consumers and revenue streams. The partners, representing cities, rural communities, regional agencies, science institutions and RE producers from 7 NWE countries, will facilitate viable new urban-rural partnerships via institutional and contractual agreements. These partnerships will close missing regional links between RE demand and supply by implementing RegEnergy pilot installations for stark increased regional RE share. In 6 regions strategic connecting infrastructure, storage capacities and smart coupling will reduce over 43,900t CO2 emissions annually. Investments will facilitate optimized approaches of urban-rural partnerships. Effective set-up of these partnerships and practical models for regionally synchronising RE demand with supply will provide strong support to local and regional authorities for their territories and will allow meeting even heavy demand. The active roll-out of the project to 8 cooperating regions within the project duration will boost impact, leveraging €30 million of investment. As lead partner, Climate Alliance, a European city network with 300 members throughout NWE, will ensure long-term roll-out even after the project’s end.

Expected Outputs (EN): Use of RE in the RegEnergy partner regions (total 2 million inhabitants) is average 12% (average NWE 17%). No active RE demand-supply urban-rural partnerships exist in RegEnergy regions and NWE. GHG emissions are at 4.2mtCO2eq in RegEnergy regions.
