The Ocean Power Innovation Network (OPIN) will design, test and deliver an innovation model to build cross-sectoral collaboration, to accelerate growth of the Ocean Energy (OE) sector and its supply chains. Currently, lack of cross-sectoral collaboration limits the opportunity to bring existing and already proven expertise, capabilities and products from other sectors into the OE sector. This makes OE technology development unnecessarily expensive and slow. Future growth of the OE sector can benefit from developments in other sectors, e.g. offshore wind energy, oil & gas, aerospace and automotive, exploiting positive synergies in technology developments, infrastructure, and supply chain. Mutual learning processes, shared infrastructure and innovations from a shared supply chain will be of benefit to the future expansion of both the OE sector and related sectors involved in the supply chain. OPIN will build an environment where SMEs can collaborate transnationally, and across sectors, and build wider supply chains for the OE sector. Change will be achieved by supporting collaborative innovation across sectors and territories to tackle identified common challenges. New solutions will be turned into new products; the supply chain will be developed. The development of a long-term network allows a focus for these transnational and cross-sector alliances to continue beyond the project. OPIN activities include the growth of a transnational cross sector network, challenge calls for cross-sectoral collaborative innovation projects, and tailored support to SMEs. After 3 years, OPIN will have supported over 100 companies, with 30 products tested, of which 10 developing to TRL7. Beyond the project, the OPIN network will be an established mechanism for transfer of know-how, with 200 members across NWE

Ocean Power Innovation Network (OPIN) entwirft, testet und implementiert ein Innovationsmodell zum Aufbau Sektor übergreifender Kooperationen und zur Stärkung des Wachstums des Meeresenergie(ME)-Sektors und der zugehörigen Lieferkette. Zurzeit begrenzt ein Mangel an Sektor übergreifenden Kooperationen die Chancen, bewährte Technik, Produkte und Know-How aus anderen Bereichen in der Meeresenergie zu nutzen. Dies bremst und verteuert die technologische Entwicklung im ME-Bereich unnötig. Das zukünftige Wachstum des ME-Sektors kann von Entwicklungen benachbarter Sektoren, z.B. Offshore Wind, Öl&Gas, Luftfahrt- und Automobiltechnik, durch die Ausnutzung von Synergien in der Technologieentwicklung, der Infrastruktur und der Lieferkette profitieren. Beiderseitiges Lernen und das Teilen von Innovationen in Infrastruktur und Zulieferbereich generiert Vorteile für die Meeresenergie und die Nachbarsektoren. OPIN wird eine Umgebung schaffen in der KMU transnational und Sektor übergreifend zusammenarbeiten können und dadurch eine stabile Zulieferstruktur für den ME-Sektor schaffen. Durch die Förderung von Sektor und Gebiets übergreifender Zusammenarbeit bei der Bewältigung gemeinsamer Herausforderungen werden Chancen geschaffen und genutzt; Neue Lösungen werden zu neuen Produkten, die Lieferkette wird entwickelt. Die Schaffung eines nachhaltigen Netzwerks erlaubt den entstandenen transnationalen und Sektor übergreifenden Allianzen den Fortbestand über das Projektende hinaus. Die Aktivitäten in OPIN umfassen die Etablierung eines solchen Netzwerks, Ausschreibungen für die Förderung gemeinsamer Innovationsprojekte und die maßgeschneiderte Unterstützung von KMU. Nach drei Jahren OPIN werden über 100 Unternehmen unterstützt, bis zu 30 neue Produkte entwickelt und getestet worden sein, wovon bis zu 10 von TRL7 weiter entwickelt wurden. Das OPIN-Netzwerk wird dann eine etablierte Einrichtung zum Austausch von Know-how sein und bis zu 200 Mitglieder haben.

OPIN concevra, testera et délivrera un modèle d 'innovation pour établir une collaboration intersectorielle, afin d 'accélérer la croissance du secteur des EMR et de ses chaînes d 'approvisionnement. Le manque actuel de collaboration intersectorielle limite la possibilité d 'intégrer aux EMR l 'expertise, les moyens et les produits existants et éprouvés d 'autres secteurs. Cela rend le développement technologique des EMR lent et coûteux. La croissance des EMR peut bénéficier des développements issus d 'autres secteurs, l 'éolien offshore, le pétrolier, l 'aéronautique et l 'automobile, exploitant des synergies positives dans les développements technologiques, les infrastructures et la chaîne d 'approvisionnement. OPIN créera un environnement dans lequel les PME pourront collaborer de manière transnationale et intersectorielle et établir des chaînes d 'approvisionnement élargies pour le secteur des EMR afin de soutenir l 'innovation collaborative entre les secteurs et les territoires pour s 'attaquer aux défis communs identifiés Des solutions seront transformées en nouveaux produits; la chaîne d 'approvisionnement sera développée. Le développement d 'un réseau à long terme permettra de favoriser ces alliances transnationales et intersectorielles au-delà du projet. Les activités OPIN comprennent le développement d 'un réseau transnational intersectoriel, des appels à projets d 'innovation collaborative et un soutien adapté aux PME. Après 3 ans, OPIN aura soutenu plus de 100 entreprises, avec 30 produits testés, dont 10 en développement à TRL7. Au-delà du projet, le réseau OPIN sera un mécanisme établi de transfert de savoir-faire, avec 200 membres.

Expected Outputs (EN): The EU has over 50% of the worlds’ OE companies; 156 directly in the sector, 121 in the supply chain. NWE has 34 patenting companies in wave &tidal devices. Many OE products currently stall at TRLs 4-5. A pilot OPIN was run in 2016/17 which had 80 members
