Description (EN):

The route section between the districts of Wiesholz in the Swiss municipality of Ramsen and the Realasinger district of Arlen on the German side, which was previously only gravelled or splintered, has been made usable for inline skaters and cyclists through its extension and asphalting. This will also encourage soft tourism cross-border away from narrow roads with heavy traffic. The objective was also to close the gap in the existing cycle path network and to improve the connection of the region to the Lake Constance - Neckar long-distance cycle path. The Arlen (D) - Wiesholz (CH) connecting path used to be only gravelled and splintered, although it is highly used, i.e., particularly by cyclists. It was not usable for inline skaters in its previous condition and could only be used to a certain extent by those cyclists with narrow tyres and wheel rims prone to damage from potholes. With the joint extension of this part of the route, a gap was closed up in the cross-border cycle path network between Germany and Switzerland, which can now be used by inline skaters and cyclists. A much-used alternative route for cyclists and inline skaters is now available in this agricultural area with glorious views of the Hegau and the Swiss border region, which is also a favourite area for hikers. The objectives of this project were mobility, attracting people to the location with its soft tourism, the improvement of the infrastructure, for local recreation, and protection from traffic dangers away from busy roads.

Description (DE):

Das ehemals nur geschotterte bzw. gesplittete Wegstück zwischen dem Ortsteil Wiesholz der Schweizer Gemeinde Ramsen und dem Rielasinger Ortsteil Arlen auf Deutscher Seite ist durch den Ausbau und die Asphaltierung nun auch für Inlineskater und Rennräder gut befahrbar. Damit soll auch der grenzüberschreitende sanfte Tourismus abseits schmaler und stark befahrener Straßen gefördert werden. Ziel war auch ein Lückenschluss im bestehenden Radwegenetz und die Verbesserung der Anbindung der Region an den Fernradweg Bodensee - Neckar herzustellen. Eine Begehung des auszubauenden Weges erfolgte erstmals bereits Anfang Mai 2014 mit Vertretern des Schweizer Projektpartners. Anfang Juni 2015 wurden bei einer nochmaligen Projektbegehung die Planungs- und Ausführungsdetails festgelegt. Nach Vorstellung der Planung im Frühjahr 2016 im zuständigen Gremium der Gemeinde Rielasingen-Worblingen wurden im Anschluss die Bauarbeiten vergeben. Da für zwei geplante Ausweichbuchten der erforderliche Grunderwerb leider nicht zustande kam, führte man auf Deutscher Seite ersatzweise zwei Aufweitungen an seitlich einmündenden Feldwegen aus. Ende Juni 2016 fand die Einweihung des Radweges an der Landesgrenze mit zahlreichen Gästen, politisch Verantwortlichen der beteiligten Gemeinden, den Planern und Erstellern des Wegstücks, Interreg-Vertretern vom Regierungspräsidium Tübingen und von Vertretern der Staatskanzlei St. Gallen statt. Bei Bratwurst, Schweizer Bier und Wein war die Freude bei der Einweihung bei allen Beteiligten über dieses gelungene Werk groß. Im Zuge der Baumaßnahme entfallene Grenzpunkte wurden Ende November 2016 wieder vermarkt und das Projekt Ende 2016 abgeschlossen. Mit diesem Ausbau konnte eine Lücke im grenzüberschreitenden Radwegenetz geschlossen werden. Somit steht eine vielbefahrene Alternativroute für Radfahrer und Inlineskater in landwirtschaftlich genutztem Gebiet mit herrlicher Aussicht in den Hegau und die Schweizer Grenzregion zur Verfügung, die auch gerne von Wanderern gegangen wird. Die Mobilität, die Standortattraktivität mit sanftem Tourismus, die Verbesserung der Infrastruktur auch zur Naherholung und der Schutz vor Verkehrsgefahren abseits vielbefahrener Straßen waren Ziele dieses Projektes. Der Dank gilt allen an der Umsetzung dieses Projektes Beteiligten.

Achievements (EN):

The formerly only shaved or split section between the district Wiesholz of the Swiss municipality of Ramsen and the Rielasing district Arlen on the German side is now also easily accessible for inline skaters and racing bikes due to the expansion and the asphalting. This also aims to promote cross-border gentle tourism away from narrow and busy roads. The aim was also to close the gap in the existing cycle path network and to improve the connection of the region to the long-distance cycle path Bodensee — Neckar. For the first time, the route to be expanded took place at the beginning of May 2014 with representatives of the Swiss project partner. At the beginning of June 2015, the planning and execution details were determined during a further project inspection. After presentation of the planning in spring 2016 in the competent committee of the municipality of Rielasingen-Worblingen, the construction works were subsequently awarded. Since the required land acquisition was unfortunately not achieved for two planned evasive bays, two expansions were carried out on the German side on the side-bounding field paths. At the end of June 2016, the inauguration of the cycle path on the national border took place with numerous guests, political leaders of the participating municipalities, the planners and creators of the trail piece, Interreg representatives from the government headquarters of Tübingen and representatives of the State Chancellery St. Gallen. With Bratwurst, Swiss beer and wine, the joy at the inauguration of all participants about this successful work was great. Border points lost as part of the construction project were marketed again at the end of November 2016 and the project was completed at the end of 2016. With this expansion, a gap in the cross-border cycle path network could be closed. Thus, a busy alternative route is available for cyclists and inline skaters in an agricultural area with a wonderful view of the Hegau and the Swiss border region, which is also glad to be walked by hikers. Mobility, location attractiveness with gentle tourism, the improvement of infrastructure also for local recreation and protection from traffic hazards away from busy roads were the objectives of this project.
