CASTWATER est le premier projet MED qui soutienne une politique touristique durable en matière d’efficacité de la gestion de l’eau dans les régions côtières. Il s’agit de réduire l’impact des activités touristiques sur l’héritage environnemental & d'améliorer la gestion des ressources aquatiques. L’objectif global est de soutenir la gestion durable de l’eau utilisée dans le cadre des activités touristiques dans les régions côtières méditerranéennes par l’amélioration du suivi et de la surveillance des performances en matière de gestion durable de l’eau. CASTWATER propose une coopération transnationale au niveau des autorités publiques & des PME touristiques. Ses résultats principaux sont: 1. Promotion de l'adoption élargie des indicateurs & des critères d’évaluation de la gestion durable de l’eau pour mesurer l’efficacité d'utilisation dans le secteur du tourisme. 2. Développement & évaluation d'un outil en ligne pour que les PME puissent comparer et auto-évaluer leurs gestion d’eau & que les autorités publiques puissent évaluer globalement la situation dans leurs territoires. 3. Ressources pédagogiques facilitant le renforcement des capacités, des moyens d’apprentissage & des ateliers locaux sur la gestion durable de l’eau touristique pour le personnel des autorités publiques. 4. Plans d'actions et de transférabilité pour que les autorités publiques en fassent des politiques concrètes & les entreprises intègrent les meilleures pratiques dans leur activité quotidien.

Description (EN):

CASTWATER is the first MED project to support sustainable tourism policies & practices on water efficiency in coastal areas. The transnational challenge is to reduce the impact of tourism activities on environmental heritage and to improve management of water resources. The project's overall objective is to support sustainable tourism water management in Med coastal areas, by improving the monitoring and assessment of the water sustainability performance of the tourism sector. CASTWATER follows a studying, testing and transferring approach of transnational cooperation, involving public authorities, tourism enterprises, and relevant agencies and stakeholders. Main outputs are: 1. Promotion of widespead uptake of water sustainability indicators & evaluation criteria to measure the tourism sector performance in water efficiency. 2. Development, validation, pilot testing and evaluation of an online tool for SMEs to monitor, compare and self-assess water efficiency status & efforts, and for public authorities to identify issues, and assess the overall situation of their territories. 3. Transferable learning & knowledge resources, and local workshops for public authorities staff on sustainable tourism water management. 4. Transferability and action plans for public authorities to support the policy integration of sustainable tourism water management approaches into policies and measures, and for enterprises to integrate best practices in their day to day operations.

Achievements (EN):

During the third implementation period the project managed to transfer successfully from module 1 to module 2. One partner withdraw and two new partners joined the partnership.At this point all deliverables, milestones and outputs from WP3 have been delivered successfully and the partnership is actively working for WP 4. The main achievements of the project at the end of June was:- Output 3.1: Evaluation toolkit for public authorities to monitor & assess sustainable tourism water management-Output 3.2: Capacity building resources for public authorities on sustainable tourism water management-D 4. 2.1: On-line tool to monitor, compare and grade performance in sustainable tourism water management-D 4. 3.1: Field-testing and evaluation methodology reportAt the end of June the Deliverable D. 4. 4.1 was under fine-tuning and it was delivered one month later.Currently all partners are working on the activity A 4.5 doing the field-testing of the online tool
