Avec un impact économique de 40 milliards d'€ et 6 millions de passagers, le tourisme de croisière joue un rôle clé en Europe et surtout dans la Méditerranée, le marché des croisières étant élevé et au milieu de fortes pressions socio-économiques. Comme le tourisme de croisière grandit, le défi pour la Méditerranée est d'exploiter pleinement son potentiel de façon (écologiquement, socialement & économiquement) durable. Relever ce défi est entravé par 3 facteurs: 1) les connaissances existantes sont insuffisantes & des écarts de données persistent; 2) les régions côtières luttent pour profiter pleinement des avantages générés par le tourisme de croisière; 3) la coordination des stratégies/politiques à l'échelle régionale & au niveau transnational est limitée. L'ambition de SIROCCO est de s’attaquer à ces problèmes en fournissant: 1. Une vision intégrée de l'état actuel du tourisme de croisière dans l'espace MED (comme un tout et par segment) et ses impacts (environnementaux, économiques, sociaux). 2. Une prévision du tourisme de croisière en Méditerranée pour les prochaines décennies. 3. Des recommandations fondées sur des faits concrets et transférables pour le développement de chaînes de valeur de croisières durables et responsables. 4. Des stratégies & politiques coordonnées au niveau régional et transnational concernant l'élaboration d'une stratégie durable et responsable du tourisme de croisière maritime/côtier.

Description (EN):

With €40 billion economic impact and 6 mil. passengers, cruise tourism plays a key role in Europe and especially in the MED, being the top cruise market and amidst strong socio-economic pressures. As cruise tourism grows, the challenge for the Mediterranean is to exploit its full potential in a (environmentally, socially & economically) sustainable way. Addressing this challenge is hindered by three factors:1) existing knowledge is insufficient & data gaps still exist;2) coastal regions struggle to fully capture benefits generated by cruise tourism; 3) coordination of strategies and policies at regional & transnational level is limited. SIROCCO has the ambition of tackling those problems by providing: 1. An integrated view of the current state of Mediterranean cruise tourism (as a whole and per segment) and its impacts (environmental, economic, societal). 2. A foresight of Mediterranean cruise tourism for the following decades. 3. Evidence-based, transferable recommendations on developing sustainable & responsible Cruise Value Chains in the MED . 4. Coordinated strategies & policies at regional and transnational level regarding the development of a sustainable and responsible cruise maritime/coastal tourism. As cruise tourism is transnational in its service offering, its benefits rely on transnational synergies and any negative impacts cannot be confined within one Member State, SIROCCO employs a transnational approach, reflected both in its content and its partnership.

Achievements (EN):

The SIROCCO Project participated at “Made in MED” event in Rome, 18-19 April 2018, where Interreg MED Programme presented results of the projects from the first call of proposal and presented values of co-working and knowledge sharing. The project coordinator Marjan Dumanić participated in the event RE - CONNECTING TOURISM, The Med Sustainable Tourism Community’s, Community Building event and Midterm Conference in Rome 29-30 May 2018. The SIROCCO representative participated at PANEL – EVIDENCES FOR BETTER POLICIES: monitoring the sustainability of tourism to inform the policy-making process, sharing experiences and knowledge gained from the project. Dissemination of the project activities has been done with presentation of the project at AI-NURECC Workshop "Cruise sector in the EUSAIR Area: “Challenges and future perspectives", that took place on the 27th of June in Olympia, Greece.The 3-day Final event of the project took place in the city of Civitavecchia (June 20-22, 2018). Within the final event, the project partnership organized Steering committee and Partnership meeting while remaining two days were reserved for discussion of the project’s results with relevant stakeholders. E-forum of the project has been organized in this period, with the purpose of dissemination and validation of prepared JOINT ACTION PLAN and INTERREGIONAL STRATEGY COORDINATION RECOMMENDATIONS. The E-forum has been disseminated with the help of AIE Secretariat and The Forum AIC. During this period the project partnership published two articles corresponding to the project’s activities and obtained results (LIDER Magazine Croatia and POSIDONIA, Greece)
