Project - GREEN and smart Mobility INDustry innovation

Description

Description (EN): The “green mind” project transnational challenge is the development of economic competitiveness & innovation in the green & smart mobility industry, by strengthening regional & transnational cooperation between businesses, research bodies and authorities. The green & smart mobility industry is an innovation sector of the MED area; it is developing fast due to technological development, but also to stricter environmental policies. “green mind” has the objective to strengthen the transnational activities of clusters and agencies to support SMEs systems in exploiting the market opportunities of the raising demand for green & smart mobility products and services. “green mind” is a mature project in which 8 MED territorial contexts (Ferrara, Thessaloniki, Andalusia, PACA, Istria, Sarajevo, Podravska and Split/Dalmatia) cooperate to: test new market intelligence, public funding screening, B2B matchmaking services for SMEs; build a transferable model of the tested services for clusters and agencies; set up a transnational innovation network involving authorities, business and research; implement a transfer programme targeted to clusters and agencies to foster their transnational activities; and deliver a policy support programme to mainstream the project results based on the Smart Specialisation Strategies of the involved regions. The “green mind” transnational approach lies in a joint learning, knowledge sharing and capacity building process for innovation in the MED area.
Expected Results (EN): 1 New transnational services for clusters & agencies which improve SMEs innovation processes & competitiveness in the green & smart mobility : Partners jointly plan, test & evaluate a set of transnational non pre-existent services helping SMEs in exploiting the raising demand for green & smart mobility products and services. The services planning and evaluation take place in cooperation with research bodies. The services include: - Market intelligence on the development of the green & smart mobility industry, to help MED SMEs innovate in finding market areas, orienting their investment decisions, better preparing & selling their products & services on the market (product, process, marketing & organisational innovation). - Screening public funding opportunities, in terms of monitoring EU & national Programmes / calls relevant to the green & smart mobility industry and guiding SMEs and research bodies to apply (e.g. H2020 - InnovFin & SMEs instrument, JEREMIE, ELENA). - B2B matchmaking events services, which concerns the joint participation of SMEs to sectorial events & fairs to support their internationalisation processes. The test of the services results in a service model which is transferable to MED (and EU) innovation clusters & agencies to support SMEs systems innovation in the green & smart mobility industry. The contribution to the Programme result is direct as the project delivers transnational activities usable by cluster organisations (new services to SMEs developed in cooperation with research bodies).1 New transnational services for clusters & agencies which improve SMEs innovation processes & competitiveness in the green & smart mobility : Partners jointly plan, test & evaluate a set of transnational non pre-existent services helping SMEs in exploiting the raising demand for green & smart mobility products and services. The success of the network is fostered by capitalizing the solid relations of the partner organisations with SMEs, research bodies and authorities. In particular, partners already work at local/regional level as network / cluster organisations and have multiple projects and initiatives relevant to the "green mind" technical topics. These networks are capitalized /channelled into the transnational level and further enriched to build the transnational innovation network. Partners have identified the following network pillars, which are relevant to the green & smart mobility industry and which constitute challenges and innovation areas: - Clean fuels and infrastructures; - Green and automated vehicles; - ITS (including smart infrastructures); - Mobility as a Service; - New business models for green & smart mobility. The network will act as an open network. The contribution to the Programme result is direct as the project creates a transnational innovation network carrying out transnational activities for SMEs and promoting the utilisation of the "green mind" service model by clusters3 A transfer & take up programme which increases MED clusters' capacities to deliver transnational services in the green & smart mobility : The transfer and take up programme has the aim of multiplying the "green mind" results by transferring them to non-partner organisations, in particular to clusters & agencies. Channels to engage clusters will for example include the ALICE European Technology Platform, the ERRIN network, the European Cluster Observatory and National Cluster Programmes. The technical contents to transfer will strongly focus on the services model to support SMEs in the green & smart mobility industry. The Programme includes workshops & on line webinars with clusters managers to share the project results and favour their take up. At least 10 non-partner clusters will be involved. The potential to involve non-partner clusters is very high, considering the fact that the green and smart mobility industry transversally concerns different industrial & service sectors (e.g. transport and logistics, automotive, energy, IT). "green mind" will also use the EC Cluster Panorama to identify the target regions, based on the presence of industries and clusters relevant to the green & smart mobility industry. The transfer & take up programme also supports the inclusion of new organisations within the "green mind" transnational innovation network. The contribution to the Programme result is direct as the project delivers a programme to increase the transnational activities of innovation clusters4 A fostered use of Structural Funds for the green & smart mobility industry in the MED regions : "green mind" merges an operational & pragmatic approach in supporting SME systems innovation with policy support & mainstreaming activities focussed on the RIS3 of the participating regions. Local / regional fora collect & channel to regional / national authorities the project results and recommend types of actions to be funded within Regional Operational Programmes (ROP) and wider public policies. The "green mind" regions/countries include in their RIS3 the following key sectors relevant to the green & smart mobility industry: - Emilia-Romagna Region (Ferrara - IT): Information & Communication Technologies (ICT), manufacturing industry / automotive. - Central Macedonia (Thessaloniki - GR): Information & Communication Technologies (ICT), energy, transport & logistics technologies. - Andalusia (Malaga - SP): transport, motor vehicles & other transport equipment, Information & Communication Technologies (ICT), energy. - PACA (FR): transport, logistics & storage. - Croatia (Istria & Dalmatia-Split): transport, energy. - Slovenia (Podravska): transport, road transport & services. Moreover "green mind" engages in a dialogue with national policy authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The contribution to the Programme results is direct because "green mind" aims at orienting the spending of Structural Funds towards support to SMEs in the green mobility industry, including services to support internationalisation processes and innovation of SMEs systems.
