Description (EN):

MOBILITAS involve 7 Med countries / 10 regions, affected by intense tourism flows with great pressure on transport infrastructure and mobility. These flows are concentrated during summer, but in certain areas, traffic peaks also in other months, due to fairs and congresses. In some cities, due to geographical and spatial premises, even daily mobility presents a challenge without including visitors’ factor. All areas face congestion, with negative effects in terms of air pollution, CO2 emission, noise, health, un-safety roads, and loss of cities’ attractiveness. To tackle this situation, MOBILITAS elaborates different SCENARIOS to enable policy makers and stakeholders better understanding effects of different choices on improving environmental quality as a whole of destination. Within a common transnational approach, pilot testing actions range from soft to hard measures: 1.Sustainable tourism mobility policies: definition of political strategies & documents to reinforce existing POLICIES or start them ex-novo (e.g. elaboration of Sustainable of Urban Mobility Plans). 2.Reduction of traffic by electrical vehicles and sharing transport solutions: re-loading electrical stations, e-cars, e-scooters & e-bikes, e-buses, etc. 3.Information Technology tools & solutions for tourists/residents (APPs, software...) to facilitate decongestion of tourist traffic. All activities are coherently envisaged to make coastal cities of the Mediterranean more sustainable.

MOBILITAS implique des territoires (7 pays Méditerranéens, 10 régions) affectés par des flux touristiques intenses et qui amènent des pressions importantes en termes d’infrastructures de transport et mobilité. Ces flux sont concentrés durant les périodes estivales, mais dans certaines régions le trafic peut connaitre des pics liés à des événements divers. Dans certaines villes la mobilité quotidienne peut représenter un défi même en période creuse. Tous ces espaces font donc face à la congestion, avec des impacts négatifs en termes de pollution de l’air, émissions de CO2, bruits, santé, routes non sécurisées et perte d’attractivité de la ville. MOBILITAS élabore différent scénarii pour permettre aux décideurs politiques et aux parties prenantes de mieux comprendre les impacts de leurs différents choix sur la qualité environnementale et globale du lieu de destination. Les actions pilotes porteront sur : 1. Politiques de mobilité touristique durable : définition de stratégies politiques et documentation pour renforcer les politiques existantes ou en élaborer de nouvelles (par exemple élaboration de plans de mobilité urbaine durable). 2. Réduction du trafic par la promotion des véhicules électriques et des modes de transport partagés : infrastructures de rechargement, véhicules, scooters, vélos et bus électriques, etc. 3. Outils liés aux technologies de l’information et e-solutions pour les touristes et résidents (app, logiciels spécifiques, etc.) pour faciliter la décongestion.

Achievements (EN):

The Mobilitas project tends to reduce negative impact on environment and traffic of tourism flows in seaside resorts. Project partners prepared different sustainable tourism mobility plans and strategies which may help local authorities at sustainable mobility planning and tourism development in the local areas. Strategic documents which were elaborated could be integrated in local Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans. A scientific aspect of the Mobilitas project was the elaboration of mobility scenarios for nine partners’ regions. In scenarios future tourist flows and amount of CO2 emissions in coastal areas were presented for the next decades by the year 2050. Two scientific articles were published. Several pilot activities were implemented. Partners developed IT solutions in order to gather traffic data for future planning. In Koper (Slovenia) the data are being collected in the traffic information centre of the Municipality of Koper. An air pollution analysis was also made which revealed that that traffic isn’t the major air pollutant in the area, but the industry of the Northern Adriatic basin. Another important issue was raised - it is very difficult to measure and demonstrate pollution caused by traffic. In the city of Rimini and on the Moto Grand Prix circuit in Misano (Italy) visitors traffic flows were analysed using the method of big data collection. The databases will help local authorities at more efficient spatial planning. Furthermore Misano Adriatico gathers data about the number of cyclists using cycling paths in the city. A bike-sharing system in the Municipality of Misano Adriatico was renovated. 24 ordinary and e-bikes were purchased in Misano and in Biot (France) which are available to public, 3 new bus stations were installed in the Platres village. In Zadar (Croatia), Platres (Cyprus), Malta and Piraeus (Greece) APPs were upgraded or designed to provide citizens and tourists information about available means of transport and about interesting sites.
