Description (EN):

COASTING is a capitalisation project based on the ICZM principles application, aiming at enhancing the effectiveness of a multilevel governance tool like Coast Contract, fully framing coastal management and tourism sustainability issues. COASTING transnational partnership will activate synergies and cooperation to share specific solutions for an integrated and responsible management of coastal areas, particularly invested by tourism criticalities. The partnership will capitalise on previous experiences related sustainable development and landscape recovery so that a new shared methodology will be able to enhance the governance tool (i.e Marseille Bay Contract) with activities focused on tourism qualification and sustainability. The improved governance tool is the common output of the project; during the capitalisation process the partnership will reach advanced results developing strategies or action plans in each specific regional context, while mainstreaming the defined methodology with local stakeholders. The participative approach is the main project’s character both at transnational and local level. The transnational partnership will overcome common challenges related coastal areas while the stakeholders involvement will introduce specific contextual issues referred to tourism enhancement and sustainability at the regional/local level. The validated methodology will be useful for future transferring activity and institutional uptake in the Mediterranean area and EU.

COASTING est un projet de capitalisation basé sur l'application des principes de la gestion intégrée des zones côtières (GIZC), visant à améliorer l'efficacité de la gouvernance comme le contrat de baie, en prenant en compte l’exigence du tourisme durable. La coopération transnationale COASTING activera des synergies pour partager des solutions spécifiques en vue d’une gestion intégrée et responsable des zones côtières, particulièrement concernée par les enjeux du secteur touristique. Le partenariat capitalisera les expériences de développement durable et de valorisation du paysage afin qu'une nouvelle méthodologie commune contribue à l’amélioration de la gouvernance (ex: Contrat de baie Métropole AMP) pour un tourisme durable. Le perfectionnement de la gouvernance sera le produit commun du projet. Tout au long du processus de capitalisation, le partenariat aura pour objectif d’obtenir des résultats avancés en élaborant des stratégies ou des plans d'actions dans chaque contexte local, tout en intégrant la méthodologie définie par les acteurs locaux. L'approche participative est le principal caractère du projet au niveau transnational comme local. Le partenariat transnational permettra de surmonter les défis communs liés aux zones côtières, tandis que la participation des parties prenantes introduira les enjeux locaux de gestion du tourisme durable. La méthodologie validée sera utile pour la future activité de transfert et d'adoption institutionnelle dans la zone MED et en UE.

Achievements (EN):

Concerning WP1 (Project Management):- We have organized a Steering Committee in Dubrovnik in April.- Deliverables related to administrative/technical management (1-2) and financial management (1) have been produced according to the work plan.- The first evaluation report (2) was elaborated by FAMP in may, according to the evaluation plan (1).Regarding WP2 (Project Communication):- We have finished and uploaded in web platform all communication deliverables which have been coordinated and made by Sapienza University of Rome (responsible partner). - Regarding to Deliverable 2. (Web communication Pack): several contents have been updates in COASTING website and social networks (news, events, roadshows information, deliverables, pictures, etc...). First and second Newsletter have been elaborated by Sapienza with contributions of all partners in March and July respectively. COASTING partners have translated into their local languages and sent the newsletters.- Related to local communication (activity : COASTING poster, brochure and others communication materials (1) have been created for all partners for the local Roadshows. Press releases have also been elaborated ( 2.). - COASTING partners have participated in: Two Horizontal project events (1): Community Capitalization Workshop Split, March 27th-28th 2019 (attended by DUNEA); and Mediterranean Sustainable Tourism Convention 2019 Barcelona, June 5th-6th 2019 (attended by FAMP and Lazio Region). One MED programme event (1): Launch seminar of the MED capitalization plan Thessaloniki , March 7th-8th 2019 (attended by Epirus Region). Several external events (1) have been attended by each COASTING partner.Related to WP3 (Capitalization):- We have finished the Wikisource for Coastal Governance (2) with collaborations of all partners. - All COASTING partners have organized their Roadshows (1). A Roadshows report is being elaborated by Gozo as responsible partner.- A Workshop in coordination with the Horizontal Project (1) was organized by FAMP and DUNEA in Dubrovnik in April. An Event report was elaborated by FAMP.- All COASTING partners have begun to elaborate their strategies for Coast Contract Application. Epirus Region, as responsible partner, is elaborating a report collecting all the strategies (1).- FAMP is drafting the Memorandum of Understanding (1) that all partners will sign at the final Conference (1).
