Fostering economic growth and development, while ensuring that natural assets continue to provide the resources and environmental services on which prosperity relies, is no more a choice but an imperative for the economic and social future wellbeing of people. Although green transition will not take off without financing and assure the financing of innovation in green sectors has become a common concern for all MED countries and regions. To answer this challenge, a pool of regions, clusters, business support organisations, knowledge providers and development agencies joined in the finMED project, whose aim is to boost the financing of innovation in green growth sectors through improved delivery of policies and strategies and the introduction of innovative cluster services. The project delivers concrete outputs and results in three fields: 1- Public policies delivery, by developing and adopting new concepts, principle and practices to finance green growth strategies. 2- Innovation and business environment, by improving interaction and collaboration (at regional and transnational level) among involved stakeholders and bridging the gap among enterprises and financers. 3- Green sectors capacities, by stimulating and actively supporting their adaptability to the most impellent financing challenges. finMED also develops a proper specific position on the future of green sectors innovation financing, supporting the policy debate for 2021-2028 programming period in MED and EU area.

Supporter la croissance économique et le développement, et aussi garantir que le patrimoine naturel continue à assurer les ressources et les services environnementaux sur lesquels repose la prospérité, n'est plus un choix mais bien un impératif pour le bien-être économique et social des personnes. Toutefois la transition verte ne décolle pas sans financement et assurer le financement de l'innovation dans les secteurs verts est devenue une préoccupation commune pour tous les Pays et régions MED. Pour répondre à ce défi, les partenaires de finMED s’est joint avec l'objectif de renforcer le financement de l'innovation dans les secteurs de croissance verte grâce à l'amélioration de la mise en œuvre des politiques et des stratégies et de l'introduction des services de cluster innovants. Le projet livres des résultats concrets dans trois domaines: 1 - Mise en œuvre des politiques publiques, en développant et en adoptant de nouveaux concepts, principes et pratiques. 2- Innovation et milieu économique, en améliorant l'interaction et la collaboration (au niveau régional et transnational) entre les acteurs concernés et en comblant l’écart entre les entreprises et les financeurs. 3- Capacités des secteurs verts, en stimulant et en soutenant activement leur adaptabilité aux défis de financement. FinMED soutient aussi le débat politique pour la période de programmation 2021-2028, développant une position spécifique sur l'avenir du financement de l'innovation dans les secteurs verts.

Achievements (EN):

During the 6th RP finMED partnership had to carry out several challenging activities, while at the same time still addressing the short/medium term consequences of Covid19 pandemic on each own institution/organisation and regional/national contexts.RP6 included 3 ambitious tasks of the Transferring module, concluding the overall transfer process of the finMED tools: Capacity Building Tool for Public Authorities, Support Service Tool for Clusters and Business Support Organisations and MASDE tool. In the Transferring module, finMED pursued a more active role of clusters and business support organizations, from one side, and public authorities on the other, in assuring access to finance for innovation in green sectors and reinforced linkages among innovation actors and financers. FinMED tools had been subjected to real life “stress-test”, by determining the ability of delivered tools and methodologies to deal with the real economic and financial contexts (through Testing Module and then in A 5.2 and A 5.3). With the finalization of the Support Service Tool in A 5.4 and the Piloting of MASDE tool in A 5.7 (in Valencia Region), done in RP6, finMED is now able to offer concrete, operational and ready-to-use solutions for clusters and BSOs. These solutions can enable them to become referent points for all issues related to access to finance for innovation for their members, associates and beneficiaries; as well to propose themselves as interlocutors towards financial institutions and financers, helping SMEs in particular in accessing information and obtaining targeted support. With the finalized version of the Capacity Building Tool, delivered by A 5.5, finMED sustained public authorities in increasing the accessibility and harmonization of funds for innovation in green sectors through the use of appropriate financial solutions. RP6 also showed an increased engagement of PPs in communication activities thanks to the enforcement of communication team by the Lead Partner and stronger lead by WP2 leader. More attention has been paid to the project website, to a more attractive visual identity, to the publication of news and the sharing of events in social media. Regarding Project Management, LP adopted all necessary measures to support PPs in this difficult situation, intensifying bilateral communications and providing ad hoc support. The collaboration among PPs as well improved decisively, as more interaction and common activities took place in virtual mode.
