Description (EN):

The project's objective is the promotion of composting as an instrument for managing organic waste, the use of the compound in a set of applications with high added value and the consequent reduction in the amount of waste deposited in the landfill. The waste streams of the region will be studied and the compounds produced will be evaluated and optimized in relation to the content of humic substances and in terms of their chemical profile and biological activity. The optimized compounds will be implemented in a set of new applications. It is also expected that this activity will allow the increase in the amount of compound produced by the project partners.

O projeto tem como objetivos gerais a promoção da compostagem como instrumento de gestão de resíduos orgânicos, a valorização do composto num conjunto de aplicações de elevado valor acrescentado, e a consequente redução da quantidade de resíduos depositados em aterro. Os fluxos de resíduos da região serão caracterizados e os compostos produzidos serão avaliados e otimizados quanto ao teor em substâncias húmicas e quanto ao seu perfil químico e atividade biológica. Os compostos otimizados serão implementados num conjunto de novas aplicações. Espera-se também que esta atividade permita o aumento da quantidade de composto produzido pelas empresas que são parceiras do projeto e outras que venham a associar-se.

El proyecto tiene como objetivo general la promoción del compostaje como instrumento de gestión de residuos orgánicos, el aprovechamiento del compuesto en un conjunto de aplicaciones de elevado valor añadido y la consiguiente reducción de cantidad de residuos depositados en el vertedero. Los flujos de residuos de la región estarán caracterizados y los compuestos producidos serán evaluados y optimizados en relación al contenido en sustancias húmicas y en cuanto a su perfil químico y actividad biológica. Los compuestos optimizados estarán implementados en un conjunto de nuevas aplicaciones. Se espera también que esta actividad permita el aumento de la cantidad de compuesto producido por las empresas socias del proyecto.
